  1. Damn yet another fyne event I missed. Practically in me own back yard too. Well I'm glad you all had fun. Sorry to have missed it.
  2. Ooh, I currently have a show scheduled for the first 3 weeks in July. Keep us posted.
  3. Sounds like a new companion book to go with the new exhibit.
  4. mmmmm, I'm not sure. I just used what I could find at your local big box home improvement store.
  5. I just watched an episode of "How it's Made" and they did a short on Stetson's hats. They said on the show that they used shellac as a stiffener for their hats. So seems to work for them, works for me. :)
  6. Of there is always the Edison for those in Cali. Edison L.A.
  7. I would try a diluted solution of shellac and denatured alcohol. Brush on lightly. If your just doing the brim I wouldn't worry about the hat losing any size. If you have to use some on the crown or the were the sweat band would go, use a form to keep it's size. The blank will shrink otherwise. Try not to use to much shellac mix it will be hard as rocks. Also bear in mind the brim will get floppy when you use shellac. you'll need a "form" (if you want it to stay flat just place it on a flat surface) to keep it's shape as it dries. Have fun!
  8. 7 is my choice but then again I am working for the enemy.
  9. Yes in the line of "Sparrow" look a likes, its nice to see something Hollywood with some originality. Well done!
  10. (Buys Diosa & Hurricane a drink) Hurricane abso-freaken-lutly hilarious! Nice from one video nerd to another. Happy Birthday Diosa! PS Are you sure she's not 29.97? Or is that next year?
  11. My one cousin used to hand sew soooo much that she actually put a pc set of bed hangings together faster by hand then I did by machine... the more you hand sew the faster you get, the smaller and nicer your stitches are, and a lot of time, aye they look better than machine stitching Also keep in mind that a hand worked buttonhole and prick stitched coats are still prided by tailors even today. Take a walk through Nordstroms or a high end department store and check out the expensive suits.
  12. Oh yeah, I'm going to finish the last goggles tonight. I almost forgot. Thanks Mae!
  13. Seen the green flash. I need to make a point of it next time I'm there to keep a weather eye on the horizon every eve.
  14. By jove I think i got it. Yay! Not too bad. Still annoying enough though.
  15. (Gathers up some scrap fabric and notions to take a crack at it.)
  16. It's supposed to be a knot? Oh crap, I'm doing it wrong. Yeah I need to see this one in person. Crap.
  17. If you look close I have a wrench.
  18. Ok this isn't my first attempt at these but it's my best to date. So how'd I do? Please be honest. Oi, this is one hard stitch to get me head around.
  19. Oooh, I'm getting soo close to being done with my mechanics belt. Here's is a pic. I'll post some close up's of my new flash light tomorrow. I think i'm going to go with a mallet instead of a regular hammer I just don't have one yet.
  20. If I remember right this was a GAoP grapling hook on ebay. I don't remember the details though.
  21. Yep I did a few things to them. The originals were bought here. Genetlemen's Emporium I stripped the black paint off and that was a chore. Removing the lenses and straps I used a chemical stripper and very fine steel wool and a lot of elbow grease and time. I didn't want to use coarse sandpaper and mar the surface. The steel wool and chemicals did just fine. Gave them a final clear coat so they don't tarnish. Then I sewed the remaining leather pieces on and I used the original tie straps for your head.
  22. Here's the other pair. And one of me posing with them No its not part of any outfit just me with a black button up and a cravat from me pirate kit.
  23. Thanks Stynky! I've just finished another pair lemme go take some more pics. PS There is no camera filter, just good lighting. :)
