  1. Looks great! The Duchess
  2. A Better Business Bureau for piratey shopping experiences. Let's try not to be inflamatory here. Just state the company and a brief description of your experience. This could be a good resource for those of us who do lots of online buying and selling. It can be very difficult to correctly guage the quality of work and customer service by just viewing a website. This doesn't have to be a complaints only section, feel free to cite instances of great service or work.
  3. You could also take a length of fabric twice as wide as you want the sash. The double it over "right sides together" and basically flat stitch a long bag and turn it right side out to finish. The Duchess
  4. On one I used a rolled hem stitch. On the other I just folded it over twice and straight stitched it. My sashes are fairly wide, so I fold them over once or twice, it makes a nice pocket and hides those edges. The Duchess
  5. Hmm, I don't fit any of those. Cut and style is not period, I'd have probably been hung. But I do use only natural products (some sort of fear of burning and shrink wrap) , sew most things myself and aviod hot glue like the plague. The Duchess
  6. I made Guiness pretzels once. They were...a little...solid. I think that is the best description. the Duchess
  7. I better not say anything...... and I already typed the part about a Dirty mind....... If it is really dirty not even the whole ocean can get it clean? The Duchess
  8. You own more scarves and sashes than you have socks. (O'course that could also be "you might be a belly dancer if...") The Duchess
  9. I've listened to it quite a bit since I bought it. I even had a little 25 hour road trip where I conducted a pseudo experiment. I listened to Swagger, Drunken Lullabyes, then the Real McKenzies (Oot and ABoot) and finally Within a mile of Home. My initial opinion still stands. The Duchess
  10. Like a Marble Adonis? The Duchess
  11. Your pocket knief is a cutlass.
  12. Guess not. I didn't know the studio had sold her. The Duchess
  13. Hmmm. I would imagine that The Rose is being 'kept' for future Master and Commander sequels. But that is only my speculation... The Duchess
  14. Cool! He's one of my favorite actors! The Duchess
  15. Do an ebay search for "belly dance shirt" or "bellydance shirt" If you would be more interested in a website and straight forward purchase, I can post some of those too. The Duchess
  16. Ah Diego. That was phrased much kinder than anything running through my head. The Duchess
  17. Some people are SO picky!
  18. Thanks Stynky! My sewing machine is a hand-me-down Kenmore, around 30 years old. The only time it has ever balked on me was eight layers of suiting. But for hat trim, I use a large upholstery needle and do it by hand. I should hope that none of you have heads that are large enough to make that a truly onerous job! The Duchess
  19. That struck me as unreasonable funny! The Duchess
  20. Ha Just scrolled up the page a few posts and there I am. I guess I meant in reference to myself... The Duchess
  21. Single too. Though I cannot remember posting here before. The Duchess
  22. I wouldn't wonder too much about it. It is generally better to buy these things in person where you can inspect the quality of the crafting and of the leather itself. You might pay more that way, but you know that what you're getting is good. The Duchess
  23. Personally, I'm against glueing anything on a costume. I know that it is quick and easy, but it really is just so 'tacky'. :) I'm a proponent of the "if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right" costuming technique. The Duchess
  24. I enjoyed it. Though on the scale of things, I probably won't see it again for a while, and don't feel a desire to own it. It was a well developed plot line and Cage did a good job doing 'his' in trouble but still humourous character. In defense of the black powder thing, it is a whole lot more dry, being frozen under the ice than yours is on the open water. While watching the movie I kept trying to figure out what they took out to make it a PG movie. The only thing I could come up with is there is a reference to the girl swearing, but I don't recall that she did. The Duchess
  25. Uhh... seems to me that once the propaganda be removed there isn't anything left... The Duchess
