I just caught this flick last night. I didn't think it was too bad of a mystery movie. There were a couple of corny bits at the end, but Johnny did a good job of protraying the character. I know this movie is old, but just saw it for the first time. I was wondering what others thought and what other Johnny Depp movie's they liked.

I remember from the DVD extra from DMC about the sash material for Jack's wardrobe...how they had to go back to a little mountain village in Turkey or Afghanistan or something to get it woven. Long trip for a bit of material...but oh how much fun it would be to scouring the world for just the right bit. Or, it is just as much fun as experimenting with distressing techniques. I remember the techniques that were discussed for Michael Jackson's "Triller"....the zombie outfits where litteraly dragged through the streets. One of the cable networks had a great mini series about Odysseus "The Odyssey". Calypso was Vannessa Williams and wow..she was a hrny thing in it for him. IMDB

You know there is a point there that Will does not need the locker, nor is he really associated with the locker. Yes perhaps the locker is part of Davy Jones' hell. Davy Jones Locker is probably an arena all to itself apart from the Flying Dutchman...but here is the problem...the Flying Dutchman I believe is associated with Davy Jones....if I remember the research I did a few months back. Correct me if I am wrong on that point. Also I agree with the fact that Calypso is not just crabs...she probably has many forms of the sea. Charisma upgrade...cracking up :angry:

I still don't think Joe Don is that bad. I liked what he said to Louie about his lame obsession to get rid of him. I don't think a hateful captain is what I want to sail under. I much rather sail under a stern one than a hateful one. Hate blinds your eyes sometimes. Too bad they got rid of Cheryl she was a smart and well spoken. Again the haters (associating her with the first captain) have prevailed again. I think Cheryl would have been the best Lady Pirate Captain, and then second Jupiter.

Sigh I miss the drumouts at the end of the day at Southern Faire..they have trully gone by the wayside. They used to get really the people to get their tribal spirits out. I love drumming...have gotten into it more since Belly Dancing. I would love to learn the Doumbek. I was researching one day about them and found a center in Los Angeles that teaches it and the teacher is one of the musicians in Naked Rhythm, which in turn I bought one of their CD's and I like it very much. "Bloody", thanks for clearing that up,...as I mentioned I only saw it once in and stuff goes by so fast! :lo Thoughts on Davy/Tia and Will Also by doing the change from Davy to Will mucks up the sea myth about Davy Jones locker doesn't it now. I think they shoulda kept good old Davy and had him mend his heart with Tia, and continued to be the Ferryman. Then they coulda brought them back for a bit part in the next one for some sort of help....I think that woulda tied them back to the story nicely. I think it was a short change when Tia/Calypso says she was fickle and so oh well sorry missed ya fella. That was lame because she loved him so in the beginning. I think a better story line with a barter deal between Davy and Will to save his father would have been better. Will could have retrieved the chest from Beckett and struck a deal...chest for father? That would have been a lot nicer a story line! They could have gotten rid of the happy couple in the end sailing off to Honeymoon....! And the end could still have slap happy Jack and Barbosa to find the Fount of Youth. Heck they could have taken Bootstrap and Norrington and Daddy Gov with them!

Bess, if they they knew Orlando was not going to do any more POTC's, then why in blazes add him to the finale? I know neither of the kiddies wanted to come back (stamps them with the pirate roles too much). Perhaps they will use Young Will Turner the III? I kinda feel sorry for the Kraken.... (bet a sushi stand opened up there really fast...lol) The whole Fountain of Youth thing will be interesting...bringing them to American shores...hmmmm a bit of Louisana pyrates thrown in would be good eh? Perhaps they need to go from Fl to La for some sort of key/icon? Just a thought for POTC . I have a question for everyone to ponder. Why in the heck would they have needed Jack Sparrow for the Pirate council...if Daddy was there? If Jack Sparrow was the Pirate Lord of the Carib, then what was Daddy? I know they voted him King (one vote from Dad and one from Jack?) so what was he there for except a nice bit role and a touch of strummin? Did he put anything into the kitty (spell for Calypso)? (sorry only saw it once)

I think playing 'daddy cool' will be the downfall of Asmuth. I certainly would not have given all my winnings...no way...a bit o taste I would pass around equally but I would have kept the brunt of it myself. If you are 'too easy' as a leader you will get steamrolled. I am sure you see that out in your workplaces yourselves. No one will take him serious after a while.

I as well think they short changed a lot of characters in this one...including Norrington...what a silly way to get rid of his character..should have been much more dramatic...think they definelty wrote this one waaaaaay too fast for it to become a money maker in the end. DMC is the best by far of all three now. It would have been a nicer twist for Norrington to grab daddy Gov and say let's get the hell outta here...and go to the dark side again...lol!

Well I finally saw the movie and was disapointed on how it was shoveled together. A lot of inconsistency's. They must have wrote it as they went along while they were filming the third installment in the location they were in. What a shame...it had a lot of great elements that were badly put together. They totally diss'd Davy Jones, which I thought needed to be brought to redemption with Calypso. I thought they did a poor job with Bootstrap's portrayal...it should have been stronger. The part were they were all losing their fishey parts was not filmed well at all. The whole story line in the beginning should have been better on explaining bringing the crew together to Sinagpore. The whole heart thing and her tasking Davy Jones thing was not explained just infered. I know they want to leave the door open for continuing the saga...but not like this...too many confusions! I think it should have been re-written a whole lot tighter and filmed then as such. I know for the hundreds of POTC website groupies they all could have written a tighter script :angry: I hope if they do another POTC it will make up for the sloppiness of this one. Why they killed off so many big names so shabbily is beyond me, Norrington, the Gov, The Chinese Pirate Lord (and then he gives the boat to her? what????) Could have been a million times better if they took the time! I have to say though to give credit..they did give a grand role to Barbosa...he stole the show in this one for sure!!!

Bloody, it was filmed in Dominica... Good question about the clothes I have been meaning to inquire about that at the Pirate Master Wiki website. I will generate a Post for that there. They do look a bit 'pyrated' up for modern day pyrates. I wonder what kind of make up Jupiter is using...I would think she would use Henna for her little bindi makeup jobs. Rumba are you sure they used the Picton Castle for the XXX Pirate movie...now you got me wondering..they don't mention it at their website. (now I have to get out that DVD and see if I can see if they give credit to it or watch it to compare to the one on their website) Picton Castle website Also folks at the Picton Castle website they will have a Training Tour for Bosuns...looked interesting.

OF COURSE I REMEMBER IT. I re-purchased it as a CD due to my turntable has a problem with pitch. ELP was one my all time favorite bands. In fact yesterday I wanted to find it and play JUST THAT SONG...I love that song. When ever I really want to feel in the pyrate mood I play that. I saw the concert that showcased that album. I even still have the t-shirt I got with the crossed swords and ELP in the center. They also blew a cannon at the concert for that song!!!

Man you couldn't even wear materials to any events in Cali...you'd bake yourself. I made my boyfriend some new ones..just altered a harem pants pattern and made them to length just below the knees and then put in drawstrings in the waist and at the knees length. Added some pockets sewed some really cool vintage looking buttons at the knee drawstring opening. I bought some kind of polyester/cotton blend at the cheapy fabric store. The material was black with very very thin stripes of purple (alternating thin stripes of black and purple. You can only tell there are stripes if you look very closely. They look great with his black shirt.....cause black on black is kinda boring. If you look at Jack Sparrow pants they have stripes...seems I see that alot. Thin stripes. Not historical but who is going to inspect at a Pyrate/ Ren Faire..lol

I am sure some Antique shop owner or a Fish Market or Restaurant would love to have him. I think there are probably peeps in Key West that would adore him for their backyard! Heck I would like him if I had a yard big enough to sport him...arrrrrr!
