  1. Gee I wish I had known about this earlier I would have like to have seen her. My dumb luck.
  2. Don't forget Queen Mary! Remember she was James II daughter from his first marriage. She was a Protestant. William was The grandson of Charles I by one of his daughters. The whole country was pretty much against another Catholic coming to the throne. In fact after that Glorious Revolution that brought William & Mary to the throne it became illegal for anyone other tham a member of the C of E to sit on the throne of Great Britain.
  3. I'd love to see the QAR project. I've been e-pals with Dave Moore (head archeologist for the project) for years. You're lucky Hurricane! :)
  4. There's a man making 17th-18th century redware pottery: http://www.hendersonsredware.com/ His prices are pretty reasonable. You can set the Captain's table in style!
  5. Interesting side note there is an island off of Peter Island in Deadman's Bay called Dead Chest Island. At one point its name was Deadman's Chest. It's small with no fresh water or anything edible on it. A stark desolate place. You can imagine what would happen if 15 men were marrooned there. (eerily the Derelict is heard in the background). Might be a fun place to visit! :) hee hee
  6. That National Geographic movie was not accurate as far as the facts shnwn on Blackbeard's life and death. They left a lot out and changed many things. Check the topic about it on this forum. OTOH the details on shipborad life etc. was fairly accurate.
  7. The best known Scottish pirate was Willaim Kidd. There were others and when I can rember their names I'll post them Oh one thing the man who killed Blackbeard was a highlander with a broadsword. Sad but true.
  8. More about it here: http://www.huntington.org/Information/Even...Cal.html#pirate
  9. It has been said that when Capt Morgan sacked Panama City he found no treasure. This is not entirly true. There was one thing he found that was worth is weight in gold. Here's the story: http://www.pasadenastarnews.com/news/ci_4039652 "Not all treasure is gold mate" -Capt Jack Sparrow
  10. All the advisors in the world can't create the proper budget or change the minds of the makers of the documentary. They had plenty of advisors including Michael & Chrisitine Lampe of No Quarter given, Gail Selinger author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Pirates.
  11. My Recontructing History patterns are here My Recontructing History patterns are here! (jumping up and down like Steve Martin in The Jerk when the new phone book arrives). Both patterns will need to be taken in at the waist. Kas 100 % wool is a bit hot for out here in Southern California. Can fustian or linsey woolsey be used instead?
  12. Like I said someone who was invovled with this ("Roy" Robert C. Ritchie) said this was done on the cheap. However lacking incredibility the re-enacment was the information given was very good. Kudos to Roy, Christine. Gail , Dave and all the others! And also to my friends Jerry, Louie, Micheal, Dwayne, Frankie and the late Jon Rose for having survived what had to be a miserable filiming experience. Remember they were being paid to do a job and had little or no input on how that job was to be done. :) As too using the same people in scenes over and over again it isn't only cheap documentaires that this has been done. I saw my friend Mario atttacking himself in the last battle scene in "Master & Commander ..."
  13. If you live out toward Mystic, CT. Mystic Seapoert offers boat building classes: http://www.mysticseaport.org/index.cfm?fus...8B25D94EC524B68

  15. I heard this was done on the cheap. Them proably couldn't afford them.
  16. If you want historical openly gay pirate look no further than Robert Culiford the bane of Capt. Kidd's existance. He even had a partner named John Swann who was called his Great Consort (or was that Grand Consort ). Took half of Kidd's crew away from him too. :)
  17. If you note that section only Congress has the right to issue a Letter of Marque not the President. Article 1 deals with the powers of the Congress. So write your representive!
  18. Featuring Christine Lampe (No Quarter Given) and Gail Selinger (Complete Idiot's Guide to Pirates) Who you will remember from the Pirate e-list Capt William. :)
