  10. Which song do you mean? If it's The Derelict then it was originaly a poem by Young E. Allison written in 1891 then later set to music for a muscial version of Treasure Island in 1901. The original quatran "15 men on Dead Men's Chest Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum. Drink and the devil have done for the rest yo ho ho and a bottle of rum " is from Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. This song is about a legend that Blackbeard marroned a numberf of men on Deadman's Chest Island ( now Dead chest Island of St. Peter Island in the Birtish Virgin Islands) with not but a pistol and a bottle of rum a piece. Stevenson purtpotenly heard this shanty whilst crusing the Caribbean. If you mean Yo ho Yo ho a Pirate's Life for Me. It was composed by Gorge Burns (no not that Goerge Burns) and Xaiver Atencio in 1967 for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland The Derelect influnced A Pirates life for Me How come I know all this stuff? Well I can play both by heart on the fiddle and the band I'm in sings The Derelict and I announce it.
  11. You are 73% Strange You are pretty darn strange. You're quirky and odd, and definitely not normal. But that's great--it makes you an interesting person. You aren't exactly as strange as they come, but congratulations on being quite unique! Yep! That about sums me up! :)
  12. Should I say hello to Nelson's main squeeze Emma Hamilton too?

  14. To tell the truth the Blackbeard movie with James Purfoy was better. Not by much better as history goes but better acting and authencity with the maritime aspects. At least there was no stupid Maynard's sweetheart subplot!
  15. I can think of Poc (early form of poker) 31 (early form of Blackjack), Shut the Box and Sweatcloth. The person who really knows 17th c. - 18th c. games is Mike Lampe of No Quarter Given.
  16. I had a great time even though I was burned out by the end of the weekend. I was gld to see familiar faces like Ace, Billy Bones, Casacabal, Jacky Tar, Patrick and others and to meet new faces with familiar names Oderlesseye. I know there are thoses I didn't get to meet since I was bust performing and with various other duties. Sorry I missed you maybe next time. Is our group photo posted anywhere yet? It was a wonderful faire and I look forward to next year without the fire danger. :)
  17. At a Anitquarian book faire I work at back in Febuarary the booth across from us had besides books various optics among which were a sample case of glass eyes and two pairs of period eyeglasses. One was 16thc. the other 18thc. the 16thc. werr hand held the 18thc. had ear peices. I do recall an 16thc. portrait of a cardinal wearing eyeglasses with ear pieces. Personally if I don't wear my glasses I get teribble headaches. I try to wear as period eyeglasses that my perscription will allow.
  18. Just heard from our New Providence musical director Barracuda d'Morte that it's clear blue skies at Lake Casitas and the fire appears very far away. So I'll be there with the Port Royal Privateers and preforming with New Providence. I forgot to add Iron Bess and Durty Lillie will be there too! New Providence has its own stage this year! The Port of New Porvidence will feature the band plus story tellers, belly dancers and the Naughty Stircthers. We're suppose to be next to PRP. Come on by and check it out. The first New Providence performance is at 11am. Stay and at 4:30 it's the Balck Hat Society sing-a-long. Bring your favorite sea chany or song and join along! Clear saling everyone! :)
  19. On the set of POTC everyday is Talk Like a Pirate Day. ARRGH! :)
  20. She has a heart? Porr thing she and her mother are Stepford females. Altough I admit the Old chum bucket and Mad Sally's house could have stand a flea bomb or two (hint pretend they're stink bombs abaord an enemy vessel ) The Fines OTOH have serious issues. I think they need to be dropped in the middle off nowhere with only thier wits to help them survive. AND NO LABEL MAKERS! Under the circumstances I think you Baurs did yourself proud. :)
  21. From Zorg http://loadingreadyrun.com/showmovie.php?x...klikepirate.mov
  22. All I can say is (since I have not read the book) Robert (Roy) C. Ritchie (author of Captain Kidd and the War Against the Pirates also Driector of Reasearch at the Huntington Library) was not impressed by this book. More like annoyed at the extreme by Zacks book. Nuf said :)
  23. A publication notice just came in for this four voulme set. This looks like a real good one mateies! Britsh Piracy in the Golden Age: History & Interpretation, 1660-1730 http://www.pickeringchatto.com/piracy.htm I'm hoping The Library gets a copy. :)
  24. Captain Whilst you're in the Maryland area you might want to contact Zorg. He's been hard at work building his own sloop and learning blacksmithing. Hear tell he's smithing at some living history place. Hope everything is going OK with you and the crew.
  25. I don't see my favorite vile pirate act! Where Francis L'Ollonais ripping someone heart out and biting into it while it still beating?! Now that's vile! :)
