Thanks, and likewise! As I was saying, I may act upon it, but not this year. Son#1 celebrates his birthday that weekend, and we have made camping plans. But... I'm filing it away for next year, because this event does look like a ton o' fun!

Thank you very much! I appreciate the info! I may act upon it... but...

I'm curious, do they have RV camping areas at the site? (yeah, I could go to the website and look for myself, but that takes all the fun out of it...)

If you did post it in the wrong place, it gives me a reason to fool around with the "move this post" button.

Hmmm... I think at least two people hit me with PMs yesterday, so I know mine is working a-ok!

Speaking of... do you know a good restaurant in Havre de Grace for steamed crabs? The thought had crossed my mind for going out for them this Friday night with some of the pirates who will be in town for the Lockhouse event.

If you go to the link I posted, there's a button for "where is it showing?" I don't recall if it is playing anywhere, or if it even has hit the big screen. Eh... it's not that big a deal really... RevWar reenacting afforded me some opportunities that I wouldn't have had with more mundane hobbies... by far the coolest of these was honor guard at George Washington's tomb.

Warehouse 13 - full of steam punk stuff
blackjohn replied to Littleneckhalfshell's topic in Pyrate Pop
I recorded it on the hard drive for later viewing. I'm skeptical, as usual, especially since it seems to be something of a rip-off of GURPS Warehouse 23, which is, I suppose a rip-off of the warehouse in Raiders... but c'mon, at least they could have changed the name to something a little more creative. Also... the premise reminds me of the old Friday the 13th tv show. -
Tragic... so much senseless violence... My thoughts are with him and his family... Reading a post from myspace, it sounds as if his condition has improved, thank god. He posted on myspace: Lets pray for the best.

Yep, in the original version if you know where to look and have the widescreen edition you might be able to find me at 2hr18min. I'm in a block of soldiers marching off to the big battle. In the new cut, I'm 10 minutes later. And since I haven't watched the new version all the way through, it is possible I'm in some of those extra 10 minutes. But I doubt it. Oooohhh... get this. The costume designer in the film is interviewed in the bonus features. She says something like, "... and all those uniforms were made just for this film." Uhhh... excuse me?!?!? I think not. The only thing that I wore that wasn't mine was the wig. In theory, I'm also in an IMAX movie called "We the People." There's a group of soldiers marching. I'm on the end closest to the audience, in the front rank, I think. http://www.wethepeoplemovie.com/behindscenes.html We started out with a big block of soldiers marching in that scene. But we were on a pier, and the IMAX camera we evidently too sensitive, so they kept dropping people out of the line until the camera stopped shaking when we marched by. At that point, there were only four of us. So hopefully I made it onto the big screen!

Dune back to reading it after a short hiatus... fantastic book... I don't understand why I've never been able to get this far into it in in the two other times I've tried reading it in the past.

I got the impression that it wasn't a canyon so much as a quarry.

Huzzah for US! Had a good one too. Fired the brown bess four times out over the stream valley in the backyard. Got some nice reverbs. Then I cracked open that bluray of The Patriot to show the kids I was in a movie. That was amusing (and no, I didn't show them the whole thing... wow... I forgot how bloody that film was!). Called my brother to wish him a happy 50th(!) birthday! And saw some of the best fireworks I have ever seen! USA! USA! USA!

Like... 25? Actually, I think I own it on dvd, but if I do I haven't watched it. I haven't watched that film in a long time. Funny thing is, I've been kind of "craving" it for some reason. Probably because I've been watching too much Spongebob, and Clancy Brown does the voice for Mr Crabs. So I can't watch Spongebob without thinking of either Buckaroo Banzai or Highlander. How's that for odd?

hahaha... So how do you feel about the "no-win" scenario?

The AFI right up the street from me is playing some classics... Escape from New York, Buckaroo Banzai and The Wrath of Khan sound like movies that might be worth watching. http://www.afi.com/silver/new/nowplaying/2...ome3.aspx#adven

Times like this I'm tempted to convert from taoism to buddhism... Life... can be so full of sadness...

My friend David, the brains behind the Howard Pyle Festival, is part of a team working on a new festival for 2010, to be held at Fort Delaware State Park (location of two episodes of Ghost Hunters), and with any luck to include the Kalmar Nyckel. Here's the original message... As things take shape I'll post more. Yrs&c, Blackjohn

Agreed! I have seen Night at the Museum 2. We actually took the kids to see it at the Smithsonian. Hit the museums first. That was a blast... so it probably improved my opinion of the film. It was pretty good. Two thumbs up for Hank Azaria and the lady who played Emilia Earhart. Up was a massive downer. The first 30 minutes was probably the most depressing 30 minutes of any kids' film I have ever seen. The only other film I have plans to see is Moon. This looks fantastic. Like 2001 meets Silent Running.

I'm glad you said it, because I was thinking it!

I have an excuse. The Pirate Brethren's mail list celebrates its 10th birthday today! It's also Canada Day (think 4th of July, but in another country)... Oh, I almost forgot... Congratulations on being the longest standing Pirate Re-enactor groups I have encountered! Thanks! And here's to Canada! A lovely country! And here's to rum! In all it's forms! In cake! Drizzled over bacon! etc!

Whodathunkit! Here in Maryland most counties follow the same rules. No alcohol sales except in liquor stores, which can sell any type of alcoholic beverage. However, at least one county went the other direction, with the county owned liquor stores. The county owned stores are of two types. Basically, one type sells hard liquor, the other beer and wine. More or less. It gets a little arcane when you start delving into the rules and regs. Which makes it even more fascinating!
