Hot buttered rum! Again! Cheers! Maybe after this one, I'll go back for seconds using your recipe. There's another variation that replaces the hot water with hot cider. And... there's a new variation that replaces the hot cider with hot hard cider!!! (and now I think it is time to start rolling cartridges...)

May I have an order of steak on the side please? Btw, how you feeling?

I think we'd all be happy if we could have a batman to carry our bag of swords... "Oh Jeeves, bring me my cutlass, and look sharp while doing so!"

I'm all for the Bull Moose Party! Bring back Teddy!

Also, I will say that I have handled this fine hand mortar, and having seen my fair share of John Buck's work, this is a really nice piece.

First your sword, and now the hand mortar... I wish you luck on whatever your big project may be! If you don't mind, I'm going to pass this along to the Baltimore Rangers on the chance that they might be interested.

Happy Birthday Christine!

Hot buttered rum from my toby mug, made with Cruzan Black Strap. Needs extra rum. Maybe I'll go top 'er off...

A classic. Somewhere in my cube I have the entire transcript of the speech.

From a poem by Li Po... Tangled grasses lie matted with death. But generals keep at it, and for what? Isn't it clear that weapons are the tools of misery. The great sages never waited til the need for such things arose.

ps - I love this guy's site. He did some incredible experiments to powder made from a variety of charcoals and found some to make better powder than others. Pretty cool.

Hold on... I know I've seen it somewhere... http://www.musketeer.ch/blackpowder/lunte.html

I'm kind of fond of... Pirates... I bet they liked potty humor.

Hahaha... "run on mind" I know that all too well.

I remember as kids we found a Ouija board at my grandfather's house and one of my relatives (I don't remember witch... ha...) had major issues with us playing with it.

Lurid tales that remind me of the time I had a great job reading the official history of the Medical Corps in the European Theater and making maps to go along with the text. Never make the mistake of thinking a manure pile is good cover...

Call me Ishmael. Some years ago--never mind how long precisely--having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation. Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people's hats off--then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can. This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to the ship. There is nothing surprising in this. If they but knew it, almost all men in their degree, some time or other, cherish very nearly the same feelings towards the ocean with me.

And just what will happen when Christine hits 10000 posts? Can the system handle it? (you go girl!)

My e-vile gaming ways have distracted me from piracy... ... suffice to say, pirate reenactors and militia reenactors will be shooting at each other this coming Saturday at the Lock House Museum in Havre de Grace, Maryland. If you find yourself dressed as a pirate or a woman of the town or a militiaman this Saturday, and have nothing better to do, feel free to join in the fray. Bill and Ted's Excellent Tavern will be there again this year, and I believe we'll see a special appearance by the Polish Light Artillery. Also, the Lantern Queen will be running a special Pirate Cruise that evening. http://www.lanternqueen.com/Scheduleoctdec.htm PM me for more info.

I'm not sure if I trust them or not. It is tv after all. But I do believe in spooks, I do, I do, I do. My wife has had more than her fair share of odd encounters. The most fun was the time we were visiting some old house on Cape Cod. She was standing in front of me and kept acting like something was touching her. She told me to stop, and I, who was a good five feet away, said, "it's not me."

My two favorites were the dark shadow thing peering down from the upper levels of the inside of the lighthouse and the glass shattering on the nightstand of Jason's room in the haunted hotel.

How very sad... I just don't get people who would do such a thing... I guess they don't have the same sense of awe that some of us get when setting foot in a graveyard...
