It was about this time last year, son #2 found my Imperial Guard helmet, and suddenly wanted to play dress-ups. So we came up with this impromptu costume.

my myspace list... hasn't been evaluated in three years so this may be a little out of date... # The Duelists # Shakespeare in Love # The Matrix # Conan the Barbarian # The Thin Red Line # The Princess Bride # Treasure Island (the good one, with Charleton Heston) # Star Wars # Ferris Bueller's Day Off # Kung Fu Hustle # Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon # Jeremiah Johnson # Hero # The Three Musketeers # Bulletproof Monk # High Fidelity # Empire of the Sun # Blade Runner (original version!) # Little Big Man Hmmm... yeah, I can see some things I'd change. Like... where's Silent Running? Aliens? Fifth Element? A Bridge Too Far?

Indeed sir, indeed. Think of all the wonderful and amazing places... and chances are you'll only ever see just a small bit of that...

Cool. Can't wait to see what you've got! Accckkkkkphhtttt... I can't get my ftp software working... aaarrrrgggghhh... I have at least one or two more photos to share (of the missus and the youngin's)

We chart Kingman Reef... Kingman Reef is just about as likely a candidate for the "middle of nowhere" as you will ever find. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingman_Reef That's got to be a fascinating place... a pile of gravel a meter or so above sea level, sometimes awash, in the middle of Pacific Ocean. Boggles my mind...

...or... from the reenacting department... a full GI kit! with a Browning Automatic Rifle! That would so rock! Someday I really want to do Willie and Joe reenacting.

Agreed. If you liked High Fidelity you may want to try another John Cusack film titled Serendipity. They are similarly themed, yet somehow antithetical to one another. I enjoyed them both. Not sure which I liked better. Serendipity has the benefit of also having Jeremy Piven in it, as Cusack's Epictetus quoting friend. And any movie where someone quotes Epictetus is ok in my book!

I know a guy that knows a guy. It has some delicious fighting scenes. Nice. Well, hopefully that guy who knows a guy know a guy who is in the movies to video business and we'll all get to see it someday. I love the 'hot shot' scene. Same here. It captures that "oh shite" feeling quite well. In the "I know a guy" category, at the last event a guy I know was going to bring a copy of 1612 to lend to me, but he left it sitting at home. He told me there were no subtitles, but still very cool to watch.

You mean, like... The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes??? I can't think of anything piratey... so... hmmm... I'd take a full scale mock-up of a Firefly/Serenity... that'd be cool!

Aye, here's to ya Cap'n Jim!!! Hope you have a fine birthday with plenty of rum, women and song!

We're talking MASSIVE battles in Europe... Ramillies, Oudenarde and Malplaquet to name the more famous. At Oudenarde there were 100,000 troops on each side. On each side! And Malplaquet was huge, and a bloodbath. It's a fabulous time period to study, imho far more interesting than the Napoleonic Wars. Queen Anne's War is just the American theatre, just as the French and Indian War is the American theatre of the Seven Years War and King William's War is the American edition of the War of the Grand Alliance.

WOW! My dad was just telling me about crocus cloth! He said my grandfather used to get it, and it was great stuff, but he didn't know if anyone still made it or not. Cool! http://www.onlineindustrialsupply.com/crclsh.html

Have you seen it?!?! I didn't know it had been released on video. Another movie that I haven't seen that looks awesome is 1612. Ok, so my people are the bad guys in this... still looks cool. (warning, contains scenes of graphic violence)

We just watched Zathura again two nights ago. The missus hadn't seen it, and the kids were like, "you gotta see it." I love that film.

HA! I knew I'd get a fun answer from you Mission!

I think next week I'm kick starting my old Firefly campaign. It has gone through a couple different iterations (in fact, it started life as a GURPS Traveller Interstellar Wars campaign), and now I think I'm going to do another switcharoo and turn it into Mongoose Traveller Firefly.

Ha! Every time I posted a reply, I had to flip back to the first page, and every time, BLAM! There's Dark Phoenix blasting me! Bravo!

Now that's fun. I gotta hand it to ya Harbormaster, you know how to have fun!

I know what you mean. Somewhere I have a couple of me and the missus in classic Trek uniforms. Also, somewhere I have one of her in a NextGen uniform. But where...??? And then there's one of me in my Old West/Firefly outfit, taken just about the same time as the one here... but I'm holding a Tommie Gun with a drum magazine!!! (Some of my other friends were doing a moonshiner vs G-men camp at that same event.)

Those pics of you and your guyfriend &c dressed in the classic Trek stuff just make my day. Perfect!

I agree with the Rev. The Green Lantern totally rocks. Good stuff!!!

Thanks. It's sad... it's sitting in my library collecting dust... no wait, it's even more sad than that... it is now sitting on the hammock strung across the rafters of the storage room, where both are now collecting dust.

BING! When you have something that says Firefly, you really have to put it to good use, wouldn't you agree. Some people say I look like Badger... ha... I see I can add another to the list.

Brilliant! You have one of the best collections of fun pictures William. I still think of that one of you in the lockup now and again.

You using an airsoft gun??? Those are sweet.
