I have a basic black baldric for my cutlass, but I don't care much for the chromed donut of a buckle it came with. Anyone know of a good source or two for period buckles? The baldric is about 3 inches wide, and needs a buckle with a single clasp. Ideas?

I'm sure a lot of you have seen the really nice Cutlass that Museum Replicas has had for a while... but at almost $300, it's just a wee bit prohibative. Well, messing around on eBay the other week I found a dealer, the name is fivestardeal (search his store if'n you're interested). He's got either an exact duplicate or he really is a distributer for the actual swords. Regardless, my sword cost me about $75 including S&H. And they're auctions, so I'm sure you might be able to get them cheaper than I did. It's well built. Nothing bent, broken, or flimsy on it. I recommend it!

Check this out mates, some folks in Florida saw our photos of the Land Shark and decided to creat their own pirate ship parade float modeled after her! Take at look at the Blood Lily at the link below, I think you'll see a lot of family traits from her 'mother' the Land Shark!! ...Gads!!! I think this means I'm the GRANDMOTHER of a pirate ship!!! Guess I'd better start carrying ship photos in my pocket book when I go play bridge!!! LOL Click to see the Blood Lily

Many of ye have made mention that ye seek a proper coat, but'n can't afford the number of sheckles most be asking fer one. If'n ye go to the gallery here, look for the pic called "couple of lucky pirates". It be two of me best coats. The one the lusty wench be wearing can be bought for $300, less if'n you don't want all that fancy trim. Either way, if'n ye could take a looksy and tell me what ye think of me work, i just got a case of spiced rum at port.

It costs more to have a flintlock rifle or musket customized with a left- handed lock, and stock left-handed pieces are not common. I'm interested in hearing from any who have experience firing right-handed flintlocks, left-handed. Do the sparks pose any safety problem, or annoyance? Capt. William

So I have these two suede leather pelts. I'm using part to make cuffs for off the shelf suede boots I have. I was hoping to make something else, which is why I bought two pelts. I was thinking of making a leather pouch for my cell phone/keys/money. Will this work or am I doomed to forever own suede pelts with no projects?

I've now seen two of these really cute pirate antenna balls. (Sorry I was driving and couldn't stop to ask) They are black with a black pirate hat with a small skull and crossbones on the hat. Anyone have any idea where these things might be purchased? Rumba Rue **I want one!**

Me Pop's a retired state trooper and i ended up with lots of his old stuff. I found that a policemans duty belt works well for a pirate. Look for your local uniform or police supply store. They sell used gun (duty) belts and other leather goods. You can get a thick leather belt in black or brown that is about 4 inches wide for about $5.00. Most come with a nice copper or silver buckle! Another cheap way to go is head to yer local GoodWill Store (thrift store) and look in the dress racks. Find a womens chemise (dress-like garment that hangs from the shoulder). Find the right size and with a little trimming and stitching.......Bang! Ye gots a waist coat fer $2.00…

I could not find a sword frog that suited me so I cut up an old weight lifting belt and made this. The outer surface was black but the edges were raw leather...cured that with a fat black sharpie. Cut the leather with a raiser knife, drilled the fastening holes with a 3/16 drill bit then installed 3/16 x 1/2" binding pins.....thank God for keeping junk and Home Depot.....lol Cheap camera so I outlined the frog to make it easier to see.

Many a pirate has been mislead by seachering for "pirate" on eBay. If pirate garb be what ye seek, start by searching clothing-costumes then pirate. The plundering is better and you don't get all that baseball stuff.

Having been in the process of designing me garb for a while, I think I like the idea of a fabric sash instead of a belt. Any experience with this? And what sort of fabric should I use if I should need to just buy fabric and make one? Is there someplace that sells them?
