Hey all, I've been browsing various muzzle loading sites looking for the best prices for a long land brown bess. The best I've been able to come up with for a working musket is from the Middlesex village trading company for about $600, complete with sling and bayonet, hammerstall and flashguard. I was wondering if anyone else has found any good prices for a brown bess musket. (Or if you purchased one from MVTCo, I'd like to get your input about it.) Cheers!

I've recently busted my bucket boots to the point that if I dare wearing them, my feet will be covered in blisters within half an hour. So I need a new pair. I'd like to get some in the style of these preferably: http://www.piratemerch.com/pirate-boots-ma...ther-p-328.html The problem, however is, that I have small feet. I have a US women's 7, which makes it next to impossible to find bucket boots. I don't want to get a pair of the typical women's pirate boot, because I personally don't like how they look and I can't walk in heels. I'm half tempted to just get an oversized men's pair and stuff some left over fabric down the boot to sort of compensate for the oversiz…

(note: I looked back a few pages and couldn't find anything like this so I'm now posting it) Ok, so we all know there is a big debate on the types of shoes to where. Buckle vs Bucket(like in the movie POTC if you didn't know). Now what I want to ask is what years are each shoe from? When was the bucket shoe invented, who and when were they worn? Same with the buckle shoe. Also why is the bucket shoe frowned apon so much? And thoughts, questions, insight post them here.

Lindberg models be jumpin' on the pirate craze by reintroducin' a series 'o pirate pistols. Around $20 each at the local hobby shop. Picked up the blunderbus fer me daughters' kit. The plastic be very thin almost as in a vacuformed kit so go easy on the cement. Scale wise the buss is kinda sad. The too short rifle stock on a pistol seems wierd an the 3/16"ramrod has ta go. So , I's cut off the top 'o the stock, added a ball finial , shoved in a piece 'o 1/2 pvc fer a barrel an shot the whole thing full 'o insulation foam fer rigidity. It'll work fer the kids but I's perty sure I'd be snickerin' iffins I sees one at the renn faire www.lindberg-models.com if ye be w…

Well, since I'm new to this game, I was wondering about black powder (for firing pistols and whatnot.) Where is it possible to purchase black powder? And also, how legal is it?

These were linked on a kilt forum: http://www.pyrate.org/sporrans.html It is familiar to me, but can't remember who makes them. Any form of response is fine, I just have a few questions from some to shy to ask.

In Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End, Will Turner, Elizabeth Swan and Captain Barbossa were in Singapore... When they sailed through the ice fields (assuming that was the North Pole) they would have gone right past Japan. So does anyone know where I can get an Authentic Stainless Steel Pyrate Katana, just like they could have gotten if they had stopped in Japan?

Ahoy! I'm looking for opinions on a sword. I currently own a sword that was used a prop in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. The thing is it's bothersome because I'm a lefty and it's hilt is a righty, so I want to find something more lefty-friendly. I was seeking opinions on the following two swords as a replacement to my existing one: Classic Pirate Cutlass from Dead Men Tell No Tales and Pirates Captain Hanger fro Museum Replicas My goal is to get a cutlass that looks about right and that I can wield, even though I doubt I'll ever use it for swordplay. I am also hoping to keep it to less than a few hundred dollars in hopes that Santa might forge me one for …

OK, you lot. During the maelstrom battle, our favourite little pirate is shown firing a double barrelled blunderbuss. Any clue where this came from? Was it a real piece or a movie dummy? I'd really like to acquire one of these. Hawkyns

Ahoy mates! I am currently customizing my doglock dragoon pistol from Loyalist Arms. I am specifically looking for a grotesque face style brass butt cap that would fit it, similar to the ones on the Queen Anne pistols. I have found one at Dixie Gunworks, but does anyone know of anywhere else that supplies these? Thanks in advance for any help!

My friends tell me that all firearms need an orange tip at the end so cops know that it's not a real gun. See, I was thinking of buying some flintlock replicas that had the working mechanism but didn't actually fire. Is the "orange tip" necessary for these? It kinda ruins the historical accuracy. Also, if I were to get working pistols, would I need any liscence or something? I'm under 18, so I dunno if I could even buy them...

I was wondering if I could get some help on picking a fabric for my next pair of breeches. I've got a black pair, but I want to go with something lighter, like a dark tan or dark green. I'm looking for something to go with a pair of black boots. Eventually leading to a matching waistcoat... Despite the boots I want to keep the breeches historically accurate. I'm at a loss for historically accurate colors and fabrics. I've hit the internet and I'm torn between doing a wool or cotton canvas. Any input would be greatly appreciated, Thanks. Pantless Pogue

Well this was an adventure. I've never really made anything this precise before. There are still minor issues with the fit. Due to my own inexperience. But here are some pics. These include the period shift (chemise) in white light weight linen. Two petticoats, one underneath white light weight linen, and the outer one in blue medium weight linen, all knife pleated. Using Kass' instruction from pattern #713. (I'm not on the payroll I swear. ) The stays are made out of multiple layers of linen and the outer was hand dyed green and is a linen/ cotton blend. Fully boned without busks. I used plastic boning instead of reeds at suggested per Kass. (I wanted to be abl…

Thought I would start a new thread. I loaned my slops out ages ago, and have not seen them since... So I am in desperate need of some clothing to cover my legs. I have been sitting on RH706 for some time, and I am now taking the plunge. Let me first say, that I am no tailor. I have only made a few projects, and for those I have "drafted" my own patterns, as, until Reconstructing History came out with their line, nothing caught my eye as acceptable for GAoP. What that means is , I have less understanding about sewing terms, technique, and pattern reading skills than most of you do. I am working through this as a sheer neophyte. In short, if I can do it, there is n…

A couple of members of Tales of the Seven Seas started throwing Hawks and Knives, (We had a lot of fun throwing sharp objects at the Queen Bess Faire..) so I decided to start doing it again also.... As I was waiting for my internet conection to get hooked up again, I didn't waste the time, so I made a few throwing knives.... From the top down... a chunk of 1/8" x 1 1/2" - 3FT. "WELD STL-FLAT" that I bought at the Hardware store for about $5.00, marked for cutting... a 2" blade after cutting it with a metal cutting blade in my jig saw.... before grinding ... Three Finished blades. I epoxy heavy leather scales to the blade, and then use a cut off nail for a rivet. T…
