I don't know if this is old news, especially to those out on the west coast, but after the Irving Johnson ran agound, I began thinking of that fine little schooner Larinda again. In tracking down her wherabouts (she was refloated and sold at auction), I came across some interesting info at www.larinda.com. It appears that the Hawaiian Chieftain will be renamed the Spirit of Larinda and sail on in loving hands. They plan on operating their program again by May of this year. Coastie

I remeber when I was a wee little pirate (around the age of 8 or 9) my pirates rented a cabin in Cape Cod and when we went in town, there was this tour called "Pirate Cruise" or something like that. It was a fake sailboat, a motorboat with a sail boat body, but the sweet thing is that they had a sister company that would take kids out as the British navy. And so half way through the journey, the captain would said man the guns and we would fire upon the ship, now not with real guns but with Super Soaker cannons. It was super fun time, so i was wondering if anyone has been to Cape Cod in the last 8 years and if this company was still running. Becuase it was part of my chil…

My family and I (being my wife, 15 year old son, and sister-in-law) take an annual summer road trip. We were considering Key West as our destination this year, but we want to make sure our son enjoys the trip, and he's dreadfully at "that age." While the ocean alone is enough of a reason for the rest of us, our son requires a little more excitement these days. I know there's the new pirate museum, and he's fond enough of pirates, but he's mostly excited about creepier things - haunted places, cemetaries, vampire tours, and such. We took a trip to Salem a few years back and he adored it. So, being as I'd love nothing more than visit Key West this summer, but have to conv…

I went to Australia and New Zealand over the summer and it was amazing. when i was in Syndey about to climb the sydney bridge ( amazing a must if you go) i saw next to Captain Cook charater tours was a man dressed like Tim Curry from Muppets Treasure Island, he was adversting a Pirate themed tour of the Australian coast. It was about 300 $AUS for two, i think, but it sounds like fun. Then in Auckland, New Zealand, at the nautical muesum they talked about Maori "pirates". So it was just great seeing pirate-like history from other places then the Spainish main. also, i was wondering if anyone has been to Austalia/New Zealand? and would like to talk about what they saw th…

I am planning on visiting St. Augustine by the end of the year. Anyone have any recommendations on what to do and where to stay? My lovely Brit friend Jayne moved down and is a ghost tour guide with a new tour. She's really delightful and I can't wait to take the tour. No pirate ghosts on the stops but I'm sure it's a blast. Anyway, if anyone can help with any firsthand visits or if you live there and can give recommendations it would sure be appreciated. I've gone on-line to find stuff but so far only touristy frou-frou kinda stuff and nothing piratical. Thanks (Moderator Cap'n William, sir? Is this within the Port o'Call boundries? How did I do? If we say, talk abo…

Anybody ever seen the Maritime Pirates of Greenport Long Island, NY in action? On their site they talk about having a Pirate Museum in Greenport, but unfortunately they haven't updated their site. Has anybody seen any of their performance work, or been to the museum??
