I have recently posted a topic in the Thieves' Market regarding my Sign Carving & Banner lettering abilities. I thought that I would post a link here as well, to offer my services directly to other Vendors, Merchants, and Sutlers who plan to attend PIP. I am a professional woodcarver & signwriter with over 30 years of experience (yike! Have I been at this for THAT long now !?). I would like to assist in any form of Booth Identification and Display lettering that you may need. Please see the full post for more information and links to images of my work. Captain Sterling suggested starting this and it seemed like a fine idea to me. I was going to post my thoughts on every restaurant I have enjoyed there, but that could take years and cost millions of lives. So I figure I'll post my thoughts as they come to me. Feel free to contribute your thoughts and experiences from these and other restaurants as well. BTW, be forewarned that Key West is usually one damned expensive place to eat if you're not going for the chain restaurants. If you're on a strict budget, I heartily recommend eating at the fort and buying your own supplies (and even the groceries are a bit pricey because everything is has to be trucked down A1A from Mi…

so I am way too excited to wait for the fall to do this, I booked out rental in the Truman Annex for PiP. I will share with you my experience in case you want to save some time on to locate an affordable place (many different types of rentals pending on budget listed below)- I do not camp (let me stress DO NOT CAMP, I willingly admit, I won't even try camping anymore). This is also a bit of insight into my brain of advanced planning obsession- so if anyone needs help with any planning related activities, I will nominate myself as the resident project manager after this. Much of my research is to avoid the additional walking and cabs we spent the last 2 trips to ke…

Recent events has forced me to reconsider my means of travel to and from PiP this year. I had originally hoped to drive and make a road trip out of it... But now I have to start thinking flight. Anyone else flying? And what airports are decent to fly into? I know flying into Key West would be most ideal, but flying into Miami or somewhere else would be cheaper (correct?)... If you could share what info you have I would greatly appreciate it, as it should be getting close to the ideal time to book flights.

In 1733 the Spanish Galleon sank and much of her cargo was salvaged. In brief . . . Over the past 60 year salvage has been off an on consisting from hand faning to the use of mail boxes. We currently hold the legal lease to recover artifacts from the wreck and are attempting to do so (remember the wreck is under feet of sand). This year at PiP we are thinking of bringing artifacts (namely ship pins and ballast stones) to sell.

OK... anyone from Searles Buccaneers - Post something... I'm thinking of consolidating alla the Buccaneers into one camp..... From what I can figgure ... the "Buccaneer Camp" will only have two (maybe three if Animal can make it).... so why not have one good camp instead splitting up.......... Hey...we are only off by one year.... so I think it's doable...........

As crazy as it sounds, we're seriously considering the long drive to PIP. We're talking two full days of driving with one good night's sleep in between. Why would we even consider it? One, no luggage restrictions. Two, cheaper to drive a family than to fly them. Three, it's just too crazy not to be considered. Life is short. One of the considered courses would take us through Laramie, Lincoln, Kansas City, St. Louis, Chattanooga, Atlanta and Gainesville. Is there anyone along that route willing to feed and shelter a few crazy, tired PIP runners? Who else is driving this year? Sound off! We need to figure out our combined miles for PIP. I'm painting PIP or bust…

Note, this post was taken from the Flying to PiP thread by Mission and put here in a topic created by Captain Sterling. My biggest problem is that I dont know of anyone near me that I could swindle into doing that...apparently I need to work on my pirate skills (persuasion). It would save me a heck of a headache trying to get a gun and a sword through security and trying to explain why...NYC TSA...ugh! If anyone happens to know of someone passing near the state of NY that wouldnt mind hauling one more case to PiP for a few coin, please send me a PM so I could "persuade" them to give me a hand if possible.... closer to the dates....there will be a flurry of folk k…

It is with a sad and blackened heart that I must pass on to my extended pyrate family that I will no longer have any part in the organization of the 2009 Fort Taylor Pyrate Fest or any organizational part in future Pirates in Paradise events. The mrs. and I are leaving Key West. My final day with the Florida Park Service will be June 30, 2009. The 16-year Florida "experiment" is over. This personna has expired... it's time to re-invent a new one elsewhere. We are relocating to Arizona where our biological family lives. There are a number of reasons--far toooo many to go into here--for us leaving. But the reasons that I will go into here are that the mrs. needs to be clos…

Here are a few of the new designs that Poppa has been working on for PiP 2009. What do ye think? Wording etc. will be changed as needed, but we wanted to see what ye thought of the ideas.

The girlfriend and I (mainly the girlfriend) were wondering about bathrooms and showering accommodations at PiP. Like what is available at the fort. My parents have a rental down in KW but I rather have that as a last resort. Reading everything in the pub I've gotten a pretty good idea of what goes on at the camp and whatnot but what about the days before that? what do you all do? I know I have more stuff to ask but I cant remember any more questions right now so I guess I'll post them when I do remember.

For those already planning for next year, the dates should be as follows (unless I'm reading the Mayan calendar by mistake): Fort Fest is: Thursday, Dec. 3 through Sunday, Dec. 6. For those with more time to burn, PiP begins Nov. 27 and continues through Dec. 6. -- Hurricane

I am a member of the Mercury crew and hope to add another crew along a similar time frame that would be open to people to reduce the numbers of the mercury crew and work with them. The time frame would be 1715 and the hurricane that sent many spanish ships to their graves. I would like to recreate this as a shipwrecked survivor camp but it would take a few people and if we got absorbed into the mercury camp that would be fine

I've lived in the Florida Keys for about 9 Years now and only heard about PiP a few years ago, but seeing as how I never had an outfit that wouldn't make me look like a fool to much more serious pirate folk I've never bothered going. This year though I am hell bent on going! So I'm now starting to actually buy the outfit I've always imagined (starting off small though ) And I'd thought I'd ask everyone's opinions of my choices of clothing and ask about PiP in general. So my clothing choices: The shirt The pants (I'm getting them in brown) I'm considering getting this with a brown hemp fabric. I'm considering going barefoot or in my kinos lol...I want a good pa…

...to go movie pirate at PiP this year! I was looking at the photo of myself from my trip to San Francisco two years ago and I think it might be fun to be a movie pirate for a change. (Whew! Glad I got that off my chest...anyone know where I can borrow some bucket boots? Size 9-ish...)

Boats?! I don't see any stynkin' boats. Wot ye need boats fer??? All they do is leak and sink and stufff!! Aminal Boats!? Boats is what we're all about. Boats is what gets us to and from da Rum, and boats is what gets us in and out of da Trouble. Speaking of boats... I have every intention of bringing down one, or maybe a few lil' boats in which we might knock about. I would like to get a thread going with others who might be interested in building and sailing a fleet of skiffs. Any recommendations for where to post this discussion? Although one of these boats is being built especially for PIP, should this discussion move to its own topic in a different cate…

Ok, I'm sicka' trying to find stuff on my own website from the web page for the surgeon's journal. Since I use the Pub as my back-up navigational tool for my own site, I'm listing all the extra (or Easter Egg) pages here. First, here is the first page of the Surgeon's Journal PiP '08.
