Music.... 1 2

I wanted to start getting better organized with this. I will admit I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to the songs that are periodish. So does anyone have a set list, with the keys, that they already know? Then I could hunt down the music and post it here so others can learn it. I play a few tunes on a tin whistle and play harmonica (not period) and sax (also not period). My sister has been taking fiddle lesson. for a couple of years. If I can get her a list of songs to practice, she will be able to play them at PiP. So where are the musicians?

Ahoy ya black hearted scalliwags, judies, wenches, salty dogs and Sea Wolves. Welcome to the First Annual BIB Pyrat Olympics. We want to introduce new fun and exciting events for the patrons and participants each year. This year, we thought of a lighthearted competition among the crewes. These events are based on some real nautical tasks, knowlefge, maritime skills and just some maddening inventions of our own. Once each crewe arrives they will receive a packet that includes the rules, detailed schedule, and list of events. We invite each competing crewe to march with their colors in our Entrance Parade on the first day of the Fort Taylor Pirate Fest, 12/04 at 11:00 AM, …

We had such a blast with the encampment folks this year that we plan on moving the "Catt & Fiddle" beachside near Silkie's wonderful ordinary. Diosa wants to be a buxom serving wench to Silkie and Hurricane loves making the period rum punch. So why not set up our period tavern out where there are the best rogues and wenches to enjoy its games of skill and chance and sit a spell to tell tall tales into the wee hours. Diosa will also be bringing her Tea Shoppe out there as well since most of our customers were our mates from the encampment. Hope all of you that earned commemorative bottles of the Pyrates of the Coast's best enjoys them. Already working on next years …

Because it is never too early... This list is provided as a roll call throughout the year to gage the number of attendees who are staying inside and outside the Fort Zachary Taylor Historical Park at PIP 2008. The attendees will be listed by camp (period or modern) or hotel. Attendees may be a part of any encampment without camping inside the park and interaction during the festival is not limited to camping arrangements. The list merely reflects names and sleeping arrangments of attendees and the list will be updated towards the end of the year with a "confirmed" status for those attendees who have secured their transportation to and from the event. There are many peri…

To give you all a little heads up, there are a couple of new events planned for this year. One is the crew march on Friday at 10am. All crews with their respective colors are supposed to open the festival by marching into the parade grounds at the fort. In regards to the Mercury Crew, Rusty Nell and Chrispy (now with the Bone Island Buccaneers) have generously offered to loan us their old flag. If this is acceptable, I will make the arrangements. The other is the pirate olmpics. You'll find out the details when you get here. hehe Ok, time for me to get ready to head out. See you all soon.

Ok I could do the math, but I am wondering how much it would cost for one person to go. Now let's say that the flight is NOT in the math. What all would I have to figure in?

They will be at our Tea n' Tings Shop which will be in the casement at the far side of the parade grounds. 100% of the proceeds from all tea shop will go to the American Cancer Society through our Relay for Life fundraising efforts. The Good Captain Callahan wanted me to post a Topic to give him an idea on arrival times, so that we can make sure that we get ample photo ops of all the crewes this year. Also, so that we can let you know that we come bearing gifts...We have a DVD of last years pics, and some other loot in our holds, ready to give to you all. If you could post the day and time here, we can also assist with any pickups at the airport as needed. Can't wait to see you all!

The subject of camp coordination, and specifically delegates of representatives from each camp, has been discussed in more than one thread in this sub-forum, but it needs to be addressed once more in preparation for Pirates in Paradise. Any crew or group camping in or out of the fort should pick a representative to meet with their representatives from other camps each morning and evening to discuss the matters of the day, schedule and any other instructions being sent down from the fort to the re-enactors. This person should be picked by each group and the name of that person should be added to the list here, so that Harry and the other park rangers will no who needs to…

I may well be going about this all wrong, but I checked the pirate crews area and found the general thread locked and that the Florida crew had not posted since January of 2007. Thus, since my main concern has to do with PiP, I figured here was likely the best place. I'll walk the plank if I'm wrong! (I'm an excellent swimmer) Anyway, the reason for my missive is that I would like to attend PiP for the first time this year. (Yay!) However, I am somewhat of a lone pirate in these parts (Boo!). It rarely impeads me, as I still intend to drive to the keys and get a hotel room and all that, however, I would like to have some cool folks to meet once I get there. That's wher…

To move a question to it's own thread: Sorry Capt, but the coffin I have is best seen at night with proper lighting. Not to mention the fact that it has an air operated pop up skeleton with light up eyes inside. Not quite PC. I know the schedule is really full for all involved but, what if we built a coffin in camp? I know we can get wide pine boards at H. Depot, Bone Island has said they have been making forged nails at the fort, and we should have enough folks with at least a passing interest in carpentry to pull together a simple toe pincher style pine box with rope handles. With the right tools could do a little demo on woodworking for the kids on Thurs. If …

Please note the following from Spike of the Bone Island Buccaneers: The festival hours for each day will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. -- it runs an hour later each day this year. You'll need to adjust crewe meals accordingly and any watches you have in place during public hours. I should have a pdf of the final, final schedule in the next day (or so -- island time, ya know). -- Hurricane

If you've ever been to Captain Tony's during PiP and met Captain Tony, you would have never forgotten your encounter. Always filled with tall tales and a love of the ladies, the good Captain died Saturday at the age of 92. It's a shame many of you will never get to meet him... he was a real part of the old Key West. http://cbs4.com/local/captain.tony.key.2.854313.html -- Hurricane

PIP 2007 has come and gone, and with great success. Not only did the festival itself and the encampments come off without any significant hitches, apart from some five dozen unpleasantly worn feet, the Mercury crew has already evolved. We've gone from a small gathering of many strangers and a handful of old friends, to a serious group of re-enactors bent on portraying various positions aboard ship and demonstrating historical aspects of the period. Take Mark for example. He shows up at the beginning of the event with a cautious enthusiasm for all things pirate and in less then a few months he's a died in the wool period surgeon. The man is an 18th century surgeon. N…
