Finals are over, and I'm free of law school until January 3. I'll try to hang around a little bit until HMS George Washington University calls me back aboard. I don't know how I did; one of the nerve-wracking things about law school is that you don't have any tests in most of your classes until the final. I feel pretty confident about Criminal Law and Torts, not so sure about Civil Procedure and Contracts. I did have one mid-term test, in Civil Procedure, which I screwed up royally, but I think (and fervently hope!) that I learned from my errors. I'm celebrating my liberty by reading my first pirate book in ages: Peter Earle's The Pirate Wars, and it's interesting st…

Happy Birthday my dearest love. We have had so many amazing years together and I'm looking forward to 5 times as many more. You are the wind in my sails. Thank you for your constant encouragement and support, and for always making me laugh. Thank you for liking all the things that I like, and for not pretending to be anything you aren't. I'm so very happy to continue sailing this ship with you! All my love and admiration, Maeve O'Treasaigh

Ahoy all, I have decided to put my writing and nosey-ness to use for something other than news and am going to start writing regular articles relating to the pirate community. I have done a couple of reviews of fests in the past, but then I decided to start writing about the people I have met, and that I see on here, doing little profile articles. First up - Dutchman! Pirate Profiles Blog Link Enjoy and let me know what you think!

(AP) Maybe pirates took the bronze ship's cannon from the front of a Charleston store. The Post and Courier of Charleston reported Tuesday the owner of Galleons Lost reported someone took the 18th century cannon last week. Owner Rich Mutschler said he put the gun out front about 9 a.m. Friday and it was gone 90 minutes later. Mutschler says he had put the cannon in front of the store for weeks and no one bothered it. Mutschler says the gun could be fired. It is three feet long and weighs about 250 pounds. It's valued at $10,000.

Every year, for the BC Renaissance Festival Ed Appleby (Firstmate Cobbs and http://www.edsrus.com )custom designs our cards. I know we are not the only one as I see plenty of custom cards posted on my Walls (Myspace and Facebook) and sent to me either by email and/or by post. I do love displaying the cards so if it is sent electronically I print it out and it gets put on display. So I got to thinking. There must be a ton of custom cards here, in this group. Pictures of folks modified to have a greeting on them, an already existing cartoon card that has been sent around or unique cartoon cards that get made but never really spread as far as the artist deserves.... S…

Ahoy Maties! I'm hoping you all can help with some advice and suggestions. I've zero experience with piratey things, but agreed to play a pirate for a friend's 6yr old son's birthday party. The idea is to have him find a treasure map in a bottle on the beach. Then the pirate arrives and leads the kids on the hunt for buried treasure. Eventually we dig up a chest filled with candy, crafts and pirate novelty booty for the crew to split. Has anyone here played a pirate entertainer for a children's party before? If so, what suggestions do you have for songs, games, jokes, funny bits, etc.? I've already scoured the web for lame pirate jokes and memorized part of the Dr…

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, or if there's already another thread about this somewhere. I'm still trying to get my bearings. So, I'm thinking of purchasing a pair of the Loyalist Arms GAoP shoes, and I wanted to get opinions from folks who have them or who have seen them. I'm curious to know how they fit, how they hold up to abuse, and generally how they look when worn. I've only seen a couple of pictures of people wearing them, and from what I've seen I really like them. From a thread I perused over on the Pirate Brethren forums, I understand that the fitting can be kinda' tricky. Has anyone here had this problem? Also, I'm undecided on whether to…

I found the Pub last year and have spent the last twelve months discovering further internet pirate goodness such as Bilgemunkey, Pirate Magazine, many merchants, etc. And while these are great things one and all I must confess to getting crazier than a starving bilge rat being stuck here in the landlocked Rockies far away from all of these lovely events, festivals, and the like. Any other similarly afflicted scurvy dogs out there or am I truly stuck in this hell of a locker alone? Misery love company and a nice shot of rum after all…

The pirates will come off the Bounty into town and wreak Havoc and Mayhem. Greetings to all! I recently attended my first Pirate Festival (Southern Pirate Festival 2010) and had a blast! I joined up with the Cursed Few, and am stopping in to say hello to all of you. I am working on garb and the like, but could use pointers on language of the time and basics on interacting with children/normal people. Thank you all so much, and I look forward to getting to know you. Red Laura Coughlin

Hello Everyone! I'm completely new to the site and somewhat to the world of pyracy. It's something that has always interested me and the fact that I am planning on marrying a pyrate in the near future; I thought I'd better get my act together. He said this was the place to go to get tips and to get an idea on where to start. But to be honest, my pyrate is a bit of a history buff; so to ask him for help, other then the address to this site, is a bit intimidating. I feel a bit lost and overwhelmed on where to begin ; so if anyone is up to help school a complete newbie on where to start I'd appreciate it. Thanks a bunch! L

Hey pirates, 55 year old male and just recently stumbled onto the exciting world of nut cases who "do pirates." To think I have been unaware that there really WAS a place for me all these years! And to have come to it so late in life! I'm originally from Maine but have been marooned in Montreal, Quebec for 7 years. Not only are there no pirates in Montreal, they dont even speak English!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anwyay, I am in the process of spending a small fortune putting together a pirate look that befits a giant like myself: 6'3", 270 lbs, 52" chest, 40" waist, size EIGHT hat .... (Try and find a size eight hat!!! But! I do have Capt. Jack custom making me one now... Goo…
