Pyrate Con 2008

Pirates Alley is not where the feast will be held, mates. . .it'll be at the Original French Market Restaurant! There'll be plenty of room for all!

Trust me, PyrateCon be more than ready to handle everyone as the promoters putting this year's 'Con together are über-organized. . . . expect the best that New Orleans has to offer and more.

Keep an eye on www.pyratecon.com for updates coming in the next week or so.

Rhumba - looks like we owe you some more filthy lucre! We did Scarlet's Mid-Winter in OKC and I think Captain Jasper sold a couple of your items. I'll check the books and get a check out to ye! See ya in the Big Easy!!

'Tis freedom and the promise of a better life

Funny thing, a lot of us are getting there on Thursday.

Hmmm Pub meet-up....That's going to be a hard one....how about when we all go and do the parade?

That way we can get some group pictures.

Blackbead, I'm bringing more feather hat pins - well the ones that don't sell at the Escondido faire the first weekend - second weekend we'll be in New Orleans.

Hangin at Execution dock awaits. May yer Life be a long and joyous adventure in gettin there!
As he was about to face the gallows there, the pirate is said to have tossed a sheaf of papers into the crowd, taunting his audience with these final words:

"My treasure to he who can understand."

Yo, I got 'funny money' with my magazine!

Does this mean I get to spend it at the Con?:lol::lol::lol:

Actually, that "Funny Money" will get you a dip into our Pyrates Way Treasure Chest with wrapped gifts! There are books, DVDs, toys, CDs, and several small treasure chests with $100 bills in them!

Everything you need to know about the 10,000,000-dollar bill (Winter's booty) is on page 16 of the Winter issue.

Don't forget to bring it!

I have a GREAT idea for spending $$ in New Orleans. . . . instead of using paper bills, go to the bank and convert all of your spending money into those gold $1 coins!

It be much more pyratey to throw down five gold coins for a drink than some wimpy paper with a dead guy on it.

All the change we give at our booth will be in the form of gold $1 coins!

I know. . .it's heavy. . . but make a cool sound in yer pouch!

Uuggghhhhh!

As a vendor at other events I've had people give me up to twenty-five dollars in those gold dollar coins....I've got a bunch of them now, I get them so confused with quarters in my wallet (especially in dark places), I forget about them being worth a dollar. So I just ended up putting them away and not using them.

its sad when the post office does not even want them back. the stamp machine sends em out as change, but won't take em back- thinks they are quarters. thats the only local place that dishes them out anyhow.

we use them alot here. mix them with some gaudy costume jewelry and period repro coins and you can get a good once over as you are paying bills- not in attire. last month there was a new waitress at the local watering hole (shameless plug for marker 20). we rolled in before a meeting, had dinner and paid for it all in coins. poor thing, the bartender had to explain it to her.

now pack to pyratecon, Blackbeard's Crew will be sending a raiding party. Madam grace (#2 hot wench last year will be returning), willoughby will have her own program on music, myself and atleast a half dozen more.
