I have too agree with Capn' Glen., I been workin and savin a long time for my venture., I hope to get it soon., It wont be as grand as the Royaliste but itll sure be mine. ., I have a new name for you Capn' Glen., and its a compliment after my own thinking., "The Realiste".., Theres alot of respect in there for you as well. Yea it takes a lotta bux and Pepsi .,Nike and Coke arent part of it., that is a dream. Just hard work gettin it and keepin it. Kinda reminds me of that cool song Neil Young did ., "This Notes for you"

I am going with Cascabel. I have never had to mess with any frizzen on the Guns I have bought. And they have all been reliable.
-
I'm impressed., I had no idea., Capn Mac you got some talent!. I may be in the need for a Bell Ringer and a clevis and suspension rope for the bell as well., for our vessel. I will send you a PM when I am ready., wow nice stuff.

My new queen anne is showering sparks.,I tried to google Persoli tempering kit .,as well as Pedersoli tempering kit ? and dont see it? I am curious and now confused? I thought tempuring was heat treated the right way> Have ya got a link or what do you mean? Are you using Kasenit after heating up the part (Frizzen)

Aye capnwilliam the Ketland is substantially lighter than my sea service (both 9" & 12" version) Also for me it is alot more comfortable., and I prefer the barrel also. The Ketland is really alot nicer than it might appear in a photo., when youve got it in your hand its very comfortable.,balanced.,and fires everytime. The frizzen is good on them. I recommend MTVC very much .,they are FAST and stand behind their product and are very courtious to deal with. After these two peices came my Military Heritage Sea Service became a firable wall hanger. We will take it for a shoot.,the .62 caliber is a great pistol to fire. Just not as much fun to lug around as the 2 shown here. Then again if your into collecting a bit .,the Sea Service cemented its place in history and is a must have item.

Callendish You Are a Lucky Man !!., They are not offering that anymore., you got the Hot-Rod Collectable., very nice indeed!!! Now the choice is a Nickel plated steel or a Swamped Brass (mine) ., You got the Gold plated Ivory !!!., JoshuaRed You cant go wrong on this pistol in whatever form you buy it. Kit or Completed because the manufactor makes them all . It was 50 bones cheaper than anything I have also. And like I say the machining is the best of the bunch. I am finding out Pedersoli makes alot more pistols than the Q A and revolvers......, They also are now making a few beautiful Napoleonic Flinters. I may spring for this one later. An XIII I know., I know., Its french., but it is purty too!!!
-
Just a few photos of a new pistol. I have never owned a Pedersoli before . The machine work is noticably better than all of my other pistols. The walnut and the machining to the wood is also noticably better as well. Pedersoli just got a new customer. After a comparision with the other 3 brands i have (Which I like as well) there is alot more precision to the parts manufacturing with the Pedersoli. The one thing that wasnt good was the 9 month wait. If your in a hurry I dont recommend them. If you have the time to order and wait for something in a pedersoli that a dealer doesnt carry .,then its worth it. I added this last picture with my Ketland trade pistol just to show the size differance. The Ketland Barrel is only 1/2" longer yet there is a lot more bulk to it.,and it is alot smaller than my Sea Service pistols. For those who havent got a Queen Anne .,it is alot smaller .,lighter and easier to deal with. After handling this trim pistol it makes my sea service feel like I am weilding a 2 X 4 . However a Sea Service is considerably more fire-power. The Queen Anne will probably be my first choice to carry.

*Wicked-Grin* Yer a bad Pirate Capn Pete Straw.

Actually on felt., you can steam it over a boiling pot of water on your stove. this will allow you to shape it. On the leather., they have a wire under that "trim on the brim" that allows you to shape it., also you can untie the leathercross's holding the sides up and use contact cement to hold in place what you want for a shape., then retie the cross and press your glue., and it will stay where you put it. Another thing on leather most are not blocked., therefore you get a good crown., the only messed up crowns on leather is when they are blocked.,just dont buy one of those and one more thing., alot of leather hats are 4" brim., if you buy one from excaliber., over the phone., you can request a 5" brim., this is key to a better looking tricorn., just as most felts are a 5 and not a 4. Also you can request whatever color and leather type you want at excaliber., for no extra charge., the price is for whoch ever the style cut. there fore say the Jack sparrow they sell., with a requested 5" brim and in a differant leather type or color is the same price.

ROFLMAO I am with ya GoF ., *Wicked-Wicked-Grin* Arethusa., Dont know what to say., if you want a leather you can do a little bending.,its easy. If you want it out the box ready to go., Captain jacks is your best bet.,unless you got 480.00 As a side note I have a custom (Blocked) key word here., blocked .......leather hat., trust me you do not want it., a block hat is where the crown of the hat is watered down to a point it can be stretched over a wooden head., to give that domed look you get in a 27 dollar Jas townsend felt hat., "a period correct crown look" however in a leather that leaves the leather., stretched thin and Brittle feeling., dry and easy to crack., I have softened mine up with mink oil., and even that is good for only a few weeks. It ruins them. that 480 dollar hat crown looks no better than my custom., Take the Captain Jacks if you want the easy road to PotC ..., Get a Jas Townsend blank for 27., and do your own for a crown not ruined., or by a leather and reshape the brim . I have not found a good leather crown that wasnt sewn to be a crown.
-
If you want a leather hat its pretty easy to shape it almost any way you want it. I sort of did my own bending to an Excaliber to get what i wanted..,but if your wanting an exact replica., you may have to settle for a felt., Its up to you.,it would have been just alot easier to say you wanted a Jack Sparrow hat., instead of Now I am really confused. It may be easier to go with the felt Captain Jacks as opposed to the $480 Baron hats or shape your own from a leather one . At least this way you can get a PoTC hat. Ya gotta admit they are good looking., and felt., and water proofed and cheaper., hard to go wrong there . The main visual differance I can see right away is., the leather hats., and the one in Depps .,Captain Jack pictures is., there is a piece of material sewn over the edge all the way around the brim., and felts dont have that unless you add it? course thats not necessary.,Thats a bit Superfluous really isnt it? Unless you want a hat kind of like Capn Sparrows almost but not exactly like a PotC hat kinda sorta? Savvy ? Did I just say that? Parlay.,Parlay.,must be french !! Is it not?

I chickened out after reading Capn Macs post., I bought one already assembled. I bought it last June !!! After going rounds with the people i ordered it from., Finally getting my money back., then finally notice its arrived then doing the credit card again., and well., now its finally upon me., this is Queen Anne Eve for me.., My new pistol arrives tomorrow...,The Long awaited Queen Anne Pistola should be on a UPS truck in my driveway . I hope to post a few Photos of it P.S> Capn Mac if you need more Grey Star trunnion caps I got 2 more sets I dont need.

Here is a little of my own design., its on the nose of my van., I figure a little truth never hurt anybody. Its honest.,Its humble.,and for me., it is the truth. Its what I do. From where I am standing .,most dont really have much to complain about.

Here is a leather hat on a budget., however i haver never seen it., but its a start and you can do anything you like once its in your possesion., and for a leather its cheap The Tudor Shop Then there is the Winfield Cover Co. which is probably the better of the 2.
-
can you post us a link to this person that makes these., so we can look at their stuff as well.,I am interested. I love hats., i collect them. Good luck on your quest but it sounds like youve already found what you want really.

Perhaps ? However I can see the point of literally using a big ol' chest for a table or too stack. A "Treasure Chest" or a Jewelry box or a small sea going "Coffer" I cant really see being big enough for charting or gathering around to play poker. Probably it would have been hidden from the majority . Again A Big TREASURE CHEST would need to be built of steel so it wouldnt blow itself out fromthe weight of its own contents.., and call for a forklift to move. I dont believe there is a such thing as a sea going BIG treasure chest. Gold is HEAVY Silver is HEAVY. Ever try to pickup a 5 gallon bucket of tire weights or some other lead for molding your own shot for your flintlock (Used tire weights from Les Schwab make good lead shot ) ? I dont care how big you are.,you wont get far and a 5 gallon bucket isnt very big. A portable coffer wouldnt be big. A portable coffer probably wouldnt be getting stacked with the average seamans clothing box. Logic would dictate a heavy little chest.,and it would be kept low and hidden out of sight and made of tougher materials. Heavy is never stacked high. I can see a small coffer being more decorative than the average seamans chest., you bet. Be it steel strapped., Finer woods.,a fancy top., nicer handles..,Poor people didnt have coffers., Admirals did., Merchant Captains., Rich travelors.,ect.,ect., If your going to hunt for treasure....,the first thing to do., is look for the ships manifest., find out who was on board and from that you can make a more educated guess if the hunt is worth it?
-
For me? Personally I did it for the challenge .,also I wanted something not everyone has.,and lastly.,because I can. With this in mind we have to remember a sea chest is for storage and would indeed be easier to stack (basically a portable clothing compartment) . A "treasure chest" or a jewelry box however isnt just a wooden block., they are sometimes ornate and with a degree of style .,some boxes are more attractive than others used as a decorative piece perhaps in a room as the center piece for the top of a cabinet or dresser. You wouldnt want to display an old sea chest on a nice dresser would you? Sometimes the detail and skill involved in a given project is a reflection of the artisans work and the price someone is willing to pay for it. Its the same idea for why was a ship so decorated at the aft or the bow? Why was a Cannon decorated with a Cypher and a crown? Why would a person choose a curly maple when a lesser grade wood is somuch more easily affordable ? I am going to have to give this one to personal preferance and point of purpose as well as place of use.

Actually SP Carter there were ALOT of Asian Pirates., just they dont talk about it here., The fact is .,there were many many more Asian Pirates., and probably the most successful pirate of all time was an Asian woman with over 4000 vessels in her flotilla.

JoshuaRed .,Thank you sir., Thank You ! I weighed the Mortar by itself when it arrived., its at 54lbs and now with the Sled we are at 66lbs. I can still make the 70lb weight limit on FOREX cargo shipping to the PH with out having to seperate the two. I FeEL gOoD all over . Yea its a nice compact big bore for someone to easily move around and go shooting. Its also damn handy as a sort of trash compactor--SLASH--disposal. With a little black powder you could fill it with old shoes.,underware.,spoiled food.,just about anything you dont want and send it up an over a 2 story apartment complex at close range and then it usually comes down to earth about 4 blocks down the way .
-
Aye Patrick ., With thunder in the air an Sails o' Fire., "Its Miller Time". We are done ., this mortar is ready for some beer and testing. Probably in May after I get back home.,I will field test it. After wards I will post a video much like the 1" bore cannon video. With Elevator Screw added and tie down/carry hardware added this Coehorn Project is now finished. If anyone is interested in one., or anything else for that matter.,Wes makes toys for big kids that like to make noise. He makes anything anyone wants in a cannon. He is the one building my 4 new cannons., I will post the blueprint as soon as Wes has them finished. HarborMaster
