  1. Well yes......, I have. I was told the brass would be a special order.,NO REFUNDS and a 90 day wait on special orders.... O.K. So after 120 days I called., All I got was it has to go thru customs. 160 days same. Then I got we need to get a big enough order to warrant a shipment ? 180 days again the customs story. Finally at 8 months I got No-Refund......., So Capital One got me my refund tho Cherrys did not like it. At 10 months the gun came to Cherrys., they called I paid it back again from the refund., and all was settled. We are done. I love the pistol I am glad it came but I was very un happy during the process.
  2. Tough-one...., another choice. That may be a question of where do you live? The steel will hold up well however it will rust. I guess thats ok for some., they think it looks to store bought if it shines., myself I dont let a gun get crappy. I was taught to keep them clean and immaculate. Now the Brass will not rust but is a softer metal and needs cleaned with a little more care. Perhaps even a little lighter loads. say back off 5 grains or so from a really hot load. Oh one more thing about this also.., A steel barrel can take a roundball or lots of shot., even fleche (be careful loading fleche) However a Brass barrel should only get a round ball to avoid scarring the inside of the barrel., brass is tough!., but its not steel which is tougher ! Again tho where do you live? I live in the tropics part of the time..., I ship my belongs there and will retire there. Steel will rust fast in the tropics., its 95% humidity...., but the SCUBA cant be beat !!!! Go Brass Man.., it says nautical. I waited for my brass.,we ordered it and it took 9 months to make it from David Pedersoli's shop in Italy to my desk.., but yea...,it was worth it..,but so is a Brass barreled Blunderbuss too and they generally have them in stock.,my new MH came within 8 days.
  3. That depends on the shape of the handle and the shape of the buttcap. The mixing of the "Dog-Lock": and the sea services wood seems to be what I am getting from this thread?..., A dog lock has a much more uncomfortable feel to its flat stock that positions your wrist forward., but thats the way it was............, the sea service or even a betterexample still is the lightinfantry dragoon., positions your wrist more like that of a modern weapon .,much more comfortable.,however not as GAoP. Myself I have 1 loyalist pistol., 2 from the Disciminating General MH and 1 from Middlesex. It would seem these threads are always pointing to loyalist. Please dont cut yourself short on choice by only shopping with loyalist after all these vendors are all pretty close competitors and have all their wares made in India. A fine job indeed I may add..., however I would not put one above the other ALL have been kind to me. Personally I go for the comfort., therefore I do not own a doglock., I have a Pedersoli Queen Anne.., (Now theres a new one PEDERSOLI has not been brought up yet) and I have a Ketland trade pistol.., a sea service a light dragoon.., to be honest., the queen anne is tops amongst them all in parts machining quality and exacting measurement for easy replacement by a long standing company with a long standing gun pattern. If you are uncomfortable with the doglocks postion but NEED a doglock instead of a flinter., you might re-consider and just go for a blunderbuss., problem solved. I just bought my Flint Buss (Not dog-buss) from MH and wow I am impressed., when I drilled the vent hole., wow the barrel thickness is 5/16 !!!! Its buffed !!! Heavy loads will be no-problem. Good luck on your correct choice...., almost any will be great.
  4. Yes..., And if you like Robert Louis Stevenson., dont forget to check out some of his other work as well..., Kidnapped was pretty good too.., excellant material for all.
  5. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe "Shiver me Timbers" was derived from 12 pounders or better slamming in the ships hull or even better one of the masts during an engagement. The smell of black powder (nothing like it *S*) smoke.,probably fire death and destruction.,and in a creaky and near death voice a shiver me timbers shortly after the hull is breached and the ball settles into the main mast., a heavy blow from a 24 pounder.
  6. Huzzah !!! Congrats Coastie !!! A long and happy life to ye both.
  7. You can support mast if you have the Keel to do it.., given enough hull breadth to displace enough water to keep the weight positively bouyant Its nothing more than arithmatic.
  8. For a strap I wouldnt want to drill or screw into the Keg. You probably would be better off to make a sort of harness from leather. The XXX or the Rum logos would be a personal thing. Please post photos when you get this figured out. I saw some "Blue" bottles used for water last year swinging from people at the Washington Renn Faire. It seemed plenty of people were wearing them and all the vendors were selling them.
  9. An onion bottle and a cork should do nicely. If you want you could fill it with rum before corkin the bottle .
  10. Bangus ., Talingan., and Lapu-Lapu.
  11. Pirate_Cannon if you dont want to spend much ., you can make one.., quick. Yahoo weather siad it would be really hot at the beach., so we decided to get straw for the day . We went to Walmart and spent 2.57 each (3 of us) The wife wanted hers left alone however I took mine and Swifty_Morgans home., dabbed a little hot glue on them at the right spot., then used a felt pent to mark the 4 holes per the 3 differant sides......, then proceeded to drill thru the straw.., located some black leather shoe lace., and cross-boned all our hats but the wifes. It make for a fun project a cool hat., Keeps yer mind thinkin "Pirate" and its on the cheap. (Get the widest possible brim ). Now down below is what NOT TO DO !!!! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Please do not do the Pintel-Regetti thing with your new hat...., its unbecoming of a "Pirate". Cheers and Good Luck.
  12. I think you get my meaning Mr. Nash. So your saying someone owns some beef and a place to grow it....., yea that certainly qualifys. That person is doing something., thats really the point .
  13. Thats Your way Monterey Jack ., your post vents your way. Mine vents mine. For me I will do the best I can do at a certain interest. If I cant give something my all......, then I will focus it on something I can. This biker does putt down the road on his bike.,and this pirate collects his cannons. I do not play cowboy., I am not good at that one., so I did not get the horse...., I will not play half ass .., its not worth it to me and it doesnt look good. I cant fly fighter jets so I just drink as much as I can on 747's. Ahhh but there is a right way.., and that is DO YOUR BEST. " play it right" Yes that is the capper...., this is it., life. This is not some dress rehersal and after we get it figured out then "Its show time".., no man this is it ! So infact we do the best we can ..., that is playing it right.., doing the best we can.., always trying a bit harder., keeping our focus., and making it happen the best that it can be.,for whatever your thing is. ! Pick one thing and strive to be really great at it......, whats wrong with that? Yes that is thee capper giving your all That is all. Sheila and Lady Seahawke., I do believe YOUVE GOT IT. cheers to you both Lady Seahawke take your dream .,then turn it into a plan..., then stick to the plan......, I like you.
  14. Thank you Sir Beachem Quick That was an awesome read ! very much appreciated.
  15. .05 just doesnt provide enough windage. Especially with your patch. Also consider this., after 1 shot the barrel will be fouled and it would be difficult to load a 2nd or 3rd time., youd be cleaning between each shot. I usually keep a tooth pik in the vent during loading.,then pull the pik and prime the pan.., only cleaning every 8 to 10 shots. Definitely run the 4-Ninety :)
  16. I shoot .490 with a greased patch in mine.
  17. Just the same mate., Brits got it pretty good too. Talk is cheap., if someone claims to want to do these things., let them do it., otherwise they may be missing out. Imagine a "Biker" with no bike., how many of these do we know?.,how about a cowboy with no horse? A drag racer with the., "Well back in my day I had a 68 camaro., and a 68 vette" Right., how many of these losers do you know? All I am sayin., is if you want to claim it., then do it., otherwise it makes a person a "wanna-be". Theres no fun in that., for me. I have to try to make my dreams come true. If not why dream them to begin with ? Playin pirate is cool., but if you want to play it...,play it right.
  18. I am sure I would be considered in the "Looney bin " myself. However like Hurricane I am proud to say I did it my way. See Hurricane got up and left his home and made his life in an enviroment that accomodates his piratical desires. That takes gusto. Its alot easier to BS people or finess them with poop., as opposed to gettin of yer duff and actually makin yer world happen the way you want it too. This in fact is hard..., If it was easy everyone would be do'in it..., thats what makes it so great. If the pirate re-enactment is so important to you all., then whats stopping you from taking it to the next level? Whats wrong with moving right up to the water., lining it with cannon., and having a view of your ship when your eye opens in the morn? Sound a bit too much...., maybe?., but we can try. I have not accomplished all I have set in goals., but I am working on it. We are not rich., but if we really try it will happen..., for those who dont....., nothing. Actually anyone can do it. We live in America., if you cant make your dreams come true here with the tools you have as an American., you couldnt make them happen anywhere. I refuse to lay down and accept an average life. If you really want to live a life like this..., then you HAVE to get up and go for it.
  19. Wow ! ., theres alot to agree with here., however at the same time I dont really fit into any of it ? I dont act.., you know pretend . I dont speak with a phony accent., or pretend I cant really spell or properly pronounce words., I am not a re-enactor.., paid or otherwise. I am not a historian., (A historian is a paid person .., not just a history buff.., that part I am.) ., I kinda dont really fit into anything., thats probably why me and my little circle of 3 dont do many events and such? I will however wear garb ., clothing., kit., or whatever you want to call it on a tallship cruise.,weather or not anyone else is. I will wear a tricorn.,straw or leather quite often., around the beach., at work (on my backhoe) blowing cannons on the 4th., or touring on an airplane 1/2 way around the world in a "Poet" shirt and a do-rag an tricorn.,on a flight to Asia and go Island hopping ., Scuba diving and hang out at my tropical beach. All the while wearing heavy gold including a gold tooth. I know its a bit bold perhaps to dress this way and be your own party where ever you go...., but for me., being a bit bold and doing my own thing IS thee essence of the thing.,no., I have not stole a ship., No., I havent raped., or robbed., but for some., to them., I am the pirate. *Grinning* ...., weird aye ? I collect properties on the islands as well..., something I heard Henry Morgan did as well ( on a budget I am not Mr. Morgan). I enjoy having buildings built and talking to the bank and my workers wearing a silver skull ring and a tricorn and do-rag about a concrete structure facing the water for 4 families. Its great to see their reactions as you qualify for whatever your doing! I do believe you can do whatever you want., I do., I enjoy a pirate look..., in my everyday life., I enjoy a tropical enviroment., and I enjoy wearing what You may feel is costume event stuff., in everyday life living the way I want to today with an 18th century flavor in a 21rst century day with a little Hollywood., blended a long-long-long-long way from home............, making this Dive-Pirates Scuba dreams come true . By the way the Philippines has now been rated the No# 1 . in the world over the Caribbean and the Great Barrier Reef in Scuba diving.,coral .,and marine bio-diversity by the International Diver Association ., PADI., NAUI., Project AWARE ect.,ect. :) . Like I say I am a bit alone in my adventures., In Washington we get some looks., we just look back., what is strange howeveri is in Asia no one really seems to gawk ., or find it funny., they just sort of take it as you are as anyone else...., I LOVE IT.., you really have no idea
  20. you could always go to ebay and just buy coins. last year I got a few hand fulls of british coins,. portuguese ., spanish .,and dutch coins and french coins.. It your not looking for MINT coins., authentic but worn are pretty fun to collect !! yea there not cheap.., but you can gettem.
  21. This is about all the photos I have from this years trip of without people in the photos of our beach. This is north of us by 1 1/2 kilometers at the Tampi Ferry terminal . Lots of people usually in thier !! waiting to make the crossing from Tampi to Bato. This is a little of the progress the workers have done for a us on our north side sea wall. the photo is very late afternoon and a low tide. This is about 100 ft south of the seawall. Someone abandoned a scuba boat at about our center ? I am sure by next year it'll be gone? Since we are only thier once a year., or every other year we cant keep a watchful eye and just rely on the neighbors to watch things., right . The island in the distance is Cebu., the photos dont do it justice., Cebu is but only 6 kilometers away and you can see the lights at night from the nieghboring islands., Siquijor is visable also to the south but at 12 kilometers.
  22. Can you define the timeline the list is from? Was this whaling ship during the golden age of piracy ?
  23. I will see it on DVD where by for the price of 2 admission tickets you can own it.,and see it again and again for free. on your own nice system at your leisure . I can drink rhum in my theater !
  24. I dont know if this clears any of it up or not but..., FOX news ran extensive reports last year about a "Gay Day " at the Florida park which offended its nieghbors., and apparently Disney makes alot of porno. If this is not true., I am certain Disney would have sued FOX........, they did not., and FOX ran this for a few weeks on prime time. As I have always said., Disney is about making money., pure and simple., its not a magic kingdom or anything like that., it is simply trying to make bank any way it can. If Cinderella sister was a man., and others were kicked out., It was biased and kept in the closet., and they wanted to watch out for their "Image" and they still do., even tho they are into many things other than childrens entertainment. The topic here is "Gay Pirates ? Sounds Interesting? No-one here seemed to answer this topic squarely., or took a straight forward response to address the question., mostly a bunch of dancing., except of course from Lady Barbosa., she seems to be the only one who did not actually avoid the question. "Gay Pirates ? Sounds Interesting? For you probably it does "Sound Interesting" or you would not have brought it up., am I right? For me I recognise the gay community wasnt prominent aboard late 17th century and early 18th century shipping. probably it would have been very secretive when on a rare occasion something might have happened. It this thread is just to pose the question., is it interesting..., well since there were not many women involved in piracy., we would have to assume you are refering to men. To answer the original question. No I would NOT find it interesting to see for example Edward Teach taking Stede Bonnet's temperature., while Bartholomew Roberts was counting the Korne in Jack Rackhams Poo-Poo. Did I get it right., Did I answer the question., "Do I find it interesting" ? No I do not. Actually I find these mental images., depressing., degrading., and sic? I imagine there may have been a few incidents that no-one has heard about..., and I can also imagine a few were killed..., and that was the end of it. Society today is more tolerant of such debauchery.
