  1. Wheeeeeee! Gosh the story I've written many, many years ago (rated X), 'bout me character is sort of similar. I actually got the orginal manuscript copywrited. But so far, I've had little time to work on the story. Someday I'll get back to it....

  2. Arr...fer a minute, I thought I be smokin' some bad tobakee. So you were in Agoura, eh? Then you know all about the Patterson clan I shouldn't wonder.

I haven't been ter their new fair (The "Heart o' The Forest" Faire)...(is it any good, anyone?). What's scary, is that I haven't been going to a variety of faires...just The NorCal "Pleasure Faire" (now Casa de Faire)...So I'm surprised in my own disappointment.

My relative who has been with numerous faires for a while told me about the politics that have kind of made the Casa de Faire a bit less hospitable...oh well...

...Perhaps I should check out Ojai meself, next year...?

    Know them is an understatement.

When the fair moved to San Bernadino, I worked in the costume department, and yes I had to be a 'costume nazi' as I was checkin' people's costumes to make sure they were acceptable.

Phyllis just pissed everybody off- one day she came into the costume shed with a couple of male guests and took two really nice men's shirts that were assigned to two stage players, and GAVE them to her guests as GIFTS!

Talk about some pissed costume shed workers...

But the real hellion is Leslie Patterson....Personally I don't even want to talk about the grief she gave me and others...it's really, really, really, bad.

There's no way on this Earth that I would go to any of the fairs run by the Patterson clan.

*The best times o' me life were when I was workin' the fair when it be up in Agoura. I belonged to St. Cuthbert's Guild, till the fair moved locale, and by then I was unable to keep up with the parading around the guild required, so then I worked the costume department for a season, then worked for a vendor for a few years, then went into the Military Guild as a serving wench in the Queen's Guard, where I finally said, "adios" to all the bull after eight years.

  3. As the owner of a small Senegal parrot, all that article says is true. But the reason most birds - usally cockatoos, pull out their feathers is because they aren't getting enough attention.

Parrots of all kinds are very demanding in attention, and can't be ignored.

Though, I do let me bird eat a number of things (sweets too), chocolate and avacodos can be deadly to them.

Yup, birds are messy, I keep a very clean home and vacuum a lot!

If anyone is interested in getting a parrot of any kind, be sure and do LOTS of reading about the type of bird you are interested in before buying one.

Also remember, those birds will OUTLIVE you! Better be sure there's someone whom you can give the bird to after you're gone.

That be my problem right now, no (sucker) person I know wants a bird.

  4. Well ye see, I started out workin' the S. Fair in Agoura, CA. then when the fair moved to San Bernadino, I was there for many years, before leavin'.

One o' the problems with that particular fair includin' N. Fair that ye went to, is the polictics and costume nazi's are very strict. There's been a great many o' people who 'ave left because o' that bull.

I do know that Slo Fair up in San Luis Obispo, CA. doesn't allow pirate groups of any kind to do their fair. They want to keep it all Reniassacy and stuff.

Even the recent Ojai fair which use to be called a "pirate fair" has been changed to a 'Ren-fair with a pirate flair'.

The person in charge o' that fair gots many, many complaints 'bout why there was Queen Elizabeth at a pirate fair. Well, by changin' the name a tad, the 'in charge person' suits 'is own fancy.

I 'ave been to the Arizona Ren-fair and found it to be really good (I love the Ded Bob show), and politically incorrect I think be their motto. I am plannin' on goin' again next year (it's been two years since I first went), sometime in Feb. or March. Their fair runs weekends from Feb. through the end o' March.

I prefer the smaller fairs (such as the Escondio Ren-fair) as they be much more fun, more intimate and a closeness to the vendors and guests that attend.

One can get o' big burn out when doin' too many, an' perhaps expectin' too much.

  6. What am I sewing? Well, I have been beading, beading and more beading (until me eyes fall out o' me sockets) on a beautiful tapestry frock coat that's a burgandy/brown color with a flower type pattern. Been carefully putting one bead on every friggin' flower - and there's lots! Not to mention the fabulous trims already sewn on....

Ok, I admit I've won awards for my beadwork on other costumes....

I may finish the coat by Christmas! In any case when it is done, I'll take a picture of it so you can all see it.

The next project after the coat will be the vest and breeches to go with it.

*If anyone knows where I can buy buttons in quantity, please let me know (is there web site I can go to?), the fabric stores never have enough.

    **Beady eyed gal**

  7. A question comes to mind (one that was discussed recently at Tall Ships) that what sailor would be able to wear boots of any kind trying to do regular sailor duties on a ship? None! Trying to climb rigging and the sorts the boots would be useless.

To me boots are more for the 'landlubber' pirates. Now don't get me wrong, I love boots on a guy/gal, but for the sailor guy, a sandal or simple leather shoe would be more appropriate.

Well gosh, it seems that my idea for little red riding hood has gone out the window....well, now, with me handy scissors, needle and thread, a chop here a cut there, a bingo, I just turned it into Little Pirate Red Riding Hood, oh yea gotta have the fishnet stockings! Hmmmm, gotta push the 'girls' up a little higher for the right look (pushing boobs up in tight bodice).

  11. Actually, there's two versions of Barnacle Bill the Sailor, both of which are in the songbooks, that NQG sells.

But since I'm a 'nice' wench, I won't be writin' them here, but if'n ye wants the words to that an' other bawdy songs, contact Christine Lampe, cuz she's got the books for sale.
