  1. What do you mean? Grab one for you and bring it to PIP or just send you one? If you want to order one to be mailed then just do it at PiratesMagazine.com. Sarah does all the shipping and she is no slacker! If you want one for PIP then fret not. There will be plenty.
  2. Seems that my period shoe hook up may fall through. I ordered a pair of shoes in brown that were to be done by October but I still dont have them. That was my plan to have some period footwear by PIP. Always tough doing bizz with friends... Im sure I will figure something out but if there is any chance that you could have something in a 9ish size then I would surely purchase them.
  3. Oh sure. We will be bringing boxes of them. No problem.
  4. FYI it would work well as a paddle too..
  5. Oh I agree. Should be at least one "how to" thing in each issue. I think Capt Nichols has been trying to work more of that in. Maybe that would be a good thing for me to try in my Blades of the Brethren column. Maybe how to age a shiney cutlass or something. Seems I may have posted this a few days to soon. I just got my mailed copy yesterday. If I dont get more feedback here I will be pestering everyone at PIP !
  6. HAHA. Glad you like it. Tell the wifey that I will gladly make another if she wishes! I have a ton of posting to catch up on. Been slacking on my online stuff as the orders are piled up.
  7. In my Trade Thread POD offered to trade me two custom sword belts for a Boucan Knife and this is what I came up with. We also took a pattern and put it into our production line on a bit longer blade. We are calling it our Caribbean. Look for that soon. I already made 2 of them for a stage combat show in Jersey. I think it turned out well. The production version flares a bit more towards the end to make it a bit nicer fit to the tang. This is a nice and simple design that allows us to keep the peice down.
  8. Oh good! Glad to hear that. I am going to try and make some finished items to donate to the event or fort or whoever to sell. Should be fun! I have to leave some time for fishing though!
  9. Im glad to see that you feel the same as I do Miss Bright and with the next magazine coming out so soon after this one I just can't wait. With PIP in the air and with all the great writers joining our team I am just overwelmed with excitment.
  10. I will be joining the chaps at the forge while I am down there. I will bring some material with me to forge some sword and knife parts. Some knuckle bows and maybe some clamshells and such. I am going to try and rough forge some blades as well. We will just have to see how it goes but I am sure it will be of interest to many. I will try to use as many period techniques as I can during these times. If there is a crowd I would be happy to explain what I am doing as I go.
  11. Well I have not posted about a specific issue in quite some time now, but I feel this issue warrants such a post. I strongly feel that this issue is the best to come out of our camp and feel that Capt Nichols has so much more locked a ready to go for the next issue. I believe it will only get better! This issues cover has the prizes for the Devil's Dozen contest on it. A sword from Tony Swatton and one from myself that you can just see the point. It also has the Order of Leviathan ring that will be given to the 13 winners. First time that the cover has had only an object and I think it works great! The back cover has a lovely yet simple and clean ad by yours truly. I think the colors work great with the front cover. Now for inside of the magazine. We start it off with a great full page ad for PIP. Next is the letter from the helm. If you can not tell how excited our captain is by reading his letter then I dont know what to say. He is bringing in the top writers in the realm of piracy to help create magazines that will be cherished by their owners. Next we have the Devils Dozen entry bit. Gives a brief description for each of the DD hopefuls of which I see at least 4 Pyracy.com members. Next is an interview with Author John Drake. Love that guy. Right after is an article by John Drake about the true story behind buried treasure...CHEESE! A new look into where the digging began. Next we have a nice bit about MacKay and his creations. I got to meet Jeff first at the original PyrateCon. What a nice guy! Then we have a nice piece on ships of the GAOP by Steve Buckley. Ton Frey graces our pages once again with another great Blackbeard article and the findings of the QAR. There are loads of scientific findings in this one. Sam Menefee gives us a peep into the other side of pyracy. This issues Blood and Thunder column is picture happy. I love the Duckfoot pistol. Next we have my article, The Blades of the Brethren. I focus on a dear friend of mine and his early American pieces. Next we have Graybeards piece. He seems to always make my laugh a few times while reading his articles. Captain Slappy focuses in on a certain PHD that is pushing some great studies into the history of Piracy. Our Pirate queen brings us a fun "tail" about a mermaid specialist for our fantasy fans. Then we have Tiger's ongoing search for beauty...that guy never gives up. He also has a little write up about Monica Braugner and her band of female fighters. Terri and Jack bring us another great addition to the "el Lobo del Mar" saga. Always a favorite of mine. Next we have a few pages of festival coverage. You can find a few pubbers hidden in those pages as well. BilgeMunkey rings in with a few great reviews and then we end it up with our Knots page. Cant go off to sea without knowing your knots. This one teaches us a nifty way to carry our rum! Another note that I would love to hear some feedback is the new paper that we are now using. With the overwhelming support of late we decided to go with a thicker and much nicer paper. I feel it adds a since of class. Im sorry that I just wote a book on this issue, but I feel it deserved it. I job well done to the Pirates Magazine crew on this one. Enough of what I think...what do you the readers think about this new issue and the direction that we are going?
  12. In the latest issue(#11) of Pirates Magazine there is a nice little write up on each of these scallywags. It starts on page 7. There will be more website updates coming soon. For now, if you want to know more you must purchase the magazine.
  13. As much as I like the old crew I am happy to see that they are willing to move on to a new story with new characters. We have 3 movies with those guys. Lets add some fresh blood in the mix. Gibs is a must but other then that...I dont know.
  14. No no Oderless. Thats fine for your wife to vote. Just get her to vote from another IP. Remember there isnt 1 winner of this. There are 13! We are well over 500 votes now and counting. 15. As a Merchant Craftsman and member of this Pub; I am interested in seeing if (with product review, permission and payment,of course)I could get my ad to run in the cycle on our pages. Do you have any information or leads on how this might be done? When searching through Google's info, it seems that it would just be a random "happenstance" Many Thanks Before the pub change I was targeting my google ads for BKS and my ads came up quite often. I could show you how to target the site. Its not hard. Instead of activating your google ad words for search you simply select the "site targeting" option. Then type in pyracy.com and it will show you a list of banners on that site if there are multiple. On this site I only see one banner at the top and that makes it easy. I am not sure if they have graphic banners active so you will have to go with a text ad. Although they should prob activate the image ads becuase they get a much higher click through rate. All this said we should prob make our own rotating banner addspace for pub members that is run outside of google. That can be done with a little effort.
  16. The poll system that we use breaks down the votes in several dif ways. It is quite easy to tell when someone has voted over and over. It is set up now for one vote per household but there are ways around it if someone tried real hard, but we would know. We are trying to keep it is fair as we can. Instead of voting several times yourself, why not spread the word and get more people to vote. Anyone can vote on their favorite pirate.
  17. Works on my new computer with Vista but not on my old one... We will continue to work on it. For now those that can vote, please do.
  18. It's a good link. The page is what is failing. I will get right on it...
  19. http://www.piratesmagazine.com/ddvote.htm Be sure to get your vote in for the Devil's Dozen. There are several pubbers on that fine list so show your support and place your vote. http://www.piratesmagazine.com/ddvote.htm
  20. It's a tradition at most blacksmithing events to "blow an anvil". Start the event with it and end with it. You wouldn't believe how high some go.
  21. I was asked to bump this thread. My friend has added some new stuff and is working on some huge projects. Feedback is welcome.
  22. I just re-watched the 3rd movie and I was thinking to myself "man they gotta do another".
  23. I wouldn't mind making one of these.
