I am using 320 grit sanding belts on my 3x132" bader belt space savers. Then going to a 3 stage scotchbrite wheel set up on a 1.25 hp spindle buffer. Then to a cloth buffing wheel on a 1 hp spindle buffer. I cheat.

I am trying to get som many projects finished for Fells Point so I am taking some shortcuts and just modifying the easy parts before the event. Here is the trigger guard polished and engraved. I still want to engrave some things on the points of the gaurd, but that may have to wait untill after Fells. We shall see. It was hard to get a good picture of this engraving. It is much cleaner then it looks here. This is my Logo with some classic scroll work on either side. "1st Mate Matt" with a scroll on either side! I cant wait to antique all of these shiney parts! It is going to look sooO good. All of the bright engraving will go black and the shiney will go grey.

I love my crew(Press gang) and the leaders at the helm. My home port of the Pyracy Pub just the same. Well said! This is going to be a great time. There are some bumps that we would all love to get rid of, but in the end its worth working around said bumps and having a blast. There hasnt been a gathering like this. So many from all over are coming. Some I have yet to meet and some I havnt seen in years. This to me is what pyrate con was always suposed to be about. I just feel lucky that it is in my home port. -

"Privateer Day: Has a strict no-weapons policy. The only exceptions to that are the entertainment crews when they are on stage, and the LH camp participants." This is a none typical event, but not one to be missed this year. Im telling you. I dont even know whats all in store for this event. Talderoy finds a way to supprise even the closest of his crew. -

Good to see you here Talderoy my Capt! Yes we had no issues and we will check yor weapons for you if needed. We realize that for the many many photo ops that will happen that weekend that some wont go without their weaponry. Play it safe! Hawk I dont understand...the LH most certainly is allowed to have weapons. Besides in all reality pirates didnt run around in a city like Fells Point with weapons all over then. Maybe a knife and maybe the officers had a sword. Not much more. Hell I make my living off of weaponry and I dont have issues with the policy. If this were a gated event then Iw ould push for weapons but we are in the already crowded downtown Baltimore. Baltimore maybe south of the mason dixon line but it sure doesnt act like it sometimes. And yes Sunday! We told you all last year that we would do the best that we could to make it a 2 day event or at least 2 days of events. If you can't make it Sunday then dont fret, but good times will be had by all. Last year we did fort Mchenry on sunday and that was fun. This year we are going a bit further. More updates coming...Stay tuned! -
Wow did you see his hawks and axes? now those were cool.

Yea I would say for the average re-enactor, that those are beyond starter blades. Nice though. Maybe alittle too aged for my taste.

Since there is no gate I would have to assume that no1 can stop you from having replicas or toys. -

Can't please them all! Your loss! Everyone with Fell's Point has tried everything that they can do to make it better each year. They have done a damn good job of it. Maryland as a state is liberal as hell and it just doesn't workout to allow weapons. I mean the Maryland Ren fest is by far one of the top 3 ren fairs in the country and it hasnt allowed weapons at all for a dozen years or so. You cant please them all Duncan, all you can do is try your best to make it the best you can. Certain people...you can never please(not giving an example but you dont have to look far for one). -
Good to hear. Sounds like this worked out to be another perfect trade!

Cool. I will try to touch on re-hardening the springs too. I will get back to this project soon. I am spread awfully thin right now so hang in there with me.

Fair enough! I am personaly going to lean hard on some owners of private owned grass plots. Maybe I can trade them a sword or something to let us use the space. Would be great to double the LH camp and get some period vending. Next year! FYI there is now a facebook event page for the show. Not much advantage of joining it but its a fun way to chat about things and see who is coming. Please join the event group if you would like. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=30525323&id=1276237692#!/event.php?eid=107958832555860 :) cheers -

I had a few pms of people asking me to make sure the spring isnt too hard. Some said that pistol often comes with a spring that is too hard so it breaks flints like crazy. No issue here. I will walk you all through the steps on how to temper the spring back a little so it's a none issue.

To back Duncan up a little...Baltimore has a manditory jail time law for unlawfull firearm carry. Last year the cops that I talked to were cool about the weapons as long as they were tied, but all it takes is one cop that wants to put an end to it and if that happens you could find yourself in a cement hotel room for a night. I dont think that would happen, but we are strict here in Baltimore. As for the Devil's Dozen event: Weapons are allowed, but must fall within the law. We have permission from the establishment, but not the police. Its more of a "at your own risk" kind of deal. I sell weaponsat the event, but I said that I would escort each buyer to their car with any purchase. After that it is our of my hands what they choose to do. -
Just looked over both of your sites. Lookin good. Ive been in need of some good period folding benches for awhile now. Ever since my older bro thought he was done with the re-enacting and gave our full bar set up away...Shame...

awesome! remember if you need to tighten or loosen it that the pommel is the nut so crank down on it to tighten or loosen. Right Tighty...Lefty Loosey.
