Oh, I 100% agree with you Hawkyns. I suggested that a few times. They would get more vendors and that would allow them to charge less per booth aswell. I am hoping that the vendors improove a bit more over last year as there wasn't much. -I have yet to talk to Duncan. I went to most of the meetings last year for the event but I have been way to buisy to do so this year. I have had a few re-enactors and weapons masters that are attending Fell's Point this year ask me if there was at least one set time that they could join in on the firing and if so where did they need to get there weapons checked in the morning. Anyone here know anything about that?

Perfect. Lets do it together. Hury up and catch up, next I am doing the trigger guard. My plan is to show how you can alter something pretty fast and make it much nicer. Sure, some of the detailing you will have to work harder at because you wont have the machines that I do, but most will be done with sand paper and a file.

I recently aquired a rusty but working pistol that I decided was a perfect donor to have some fun with. I figured you all would like to join me on this journey. I forgot to take pictures of the butcap before I polished it but judging the rest of the gun I think you can imagine how rusty it was...in other words...it was perrrrrfect. here is the cap removed. Here you can see how they brazed the pieces of the cap together. After I did some polishing... Here she is engraved. I still plan on doing some more engraving but this was an hours worth and my fingers cramped. To be continued...

Got the pistol yesterday. This is a perfect starting point for a highly modified/personalied pistol that I will be making. THis thing wont look anything like it does now when I am done. I plan on altering the wood, engraving the crap out of it, adding a small hachet to the end and doing all sorts of other crazy things. Follow along shortly in Cascabels Firearm Forum.

Nice work. That is just awesome. If you worked that design large enough and made it into a chairback then you would have one hell of a sellable product. Everyone would have to have one.

I would suggest a mount like one of these http://www.baltimoreknife.com/fencing.htm not a D-ring cutlass, but if you want something original then I could do a simple d-ring hilt with a small slot.

J8ksdad asked me to make him my version of the cutlass that Larry Nowicki did in the fall issue of Pirates Magazine. What he didnt know is that sword was a copy of one that I had done before that was a copy of an original. So this sword is a copy of a copy of a copy. He wanted a few things refined and a stage combat worthy blade with a faceted pommel. This is what I came up with. I took some shots of it with the Cable damascus sword that Larry made, so you could see the changes and how close I got them. Would make a nice lil pair! The handle is Oak and yes she rings! Nice sword. I enjoyed making it and I will be making more for general stock soon.

You need to dish that hilt a bit more. Got anything round that you can use as a form and beat it over?

The pics are wayyyy to small to tell. I would assume its a fencing blade of some sort by the sqaure tang into threads. Anyway we can get larger photos? Looks like it would work for a smallsword mount or lite rapier mounts.

Recently at the antique arm show in Baltimore I took a few pictures of a steam punk gun. Turns out it is a prob from the movie Wild Wild West. Thought this would be up your alley Mr Hand.

Every year I do my best to make it to the Antique Arm Show in Baltimore. It is like a museum where you can hold and look at weaponry from all ages up close and talk to the owners and even purchase if your pockets are deep enough. Baltimore is known for rare items showing up. Years past I go right by the firearms and pay attention to swords and bladed weapons. Always a ton of basket hilts and rapiers not to mention top notch small swords. This year I have been hooked on flintlocks so that is where my eyes took me most of the time. I found some out of this world pieces. I saw at least 5 blunderbuss with spring loaded bayonets(I will be altering mine now and adding one I think). I saw some beautiful dueling pistols, Carved monster faces in stocks, I saw a mini patent model for a 1920's tank consept(So cool). It was black powder porn to say the least. Since I am into all barrels that flair, I thought I would take a few pictures to share. Here is an Austrian Beauty. I had never heard of ovate flairs like this. Then after I saw that one I found a few more examples like it. Some in pistol form...AWESOME!!! Mini Blunder...took this for VintageSailer! Here is a blunder with a warthog carved in the stock. I got to hold this and boy was she heavy. Awesome! Another mini blunder with tons of engraving and inlay work. A SteamPunk gun from the movie Wild Wild West. Neat... I should have taken more pictures. There were thousands of worthy items. I feel wierd asking to take pictures at every booth so I tend to just go with an objective and only take selective shots. There were cannons and swivvel guns everywhere. From 650$ repros to 18,000$ original carved with gold inlay pieces. Just mind blowing. I will be making guns and altering guns in the near future and I only plan on doing top notch pieces...I am so inspired that I am shaking. I may have to go back this afternoon for more pictures.
