  1. Hubby and I finally made it home safely this evening as well, and have sent M.A. d'Dogge on his way home....we're exhausted, and we smell funny.... And just wait till you hear of the Misadventures of M.A. d'Dogge and Rats (or Rats and M.A. d'Dogge)... Pictures yet to come.
  2. Keel hauling...by far...keel hauling is my favorite. Wouldn't want to be on the receiving end, tho...
  3. Yep....gots me a nice man slave. His English is still so broken that I may need to get him that Rosetta Stone "Learn to speak English" set. Can't handle it otherwise. Too many "aboot"s and "eh"s.
  4. Hey now.... He was making grilled cheese when I got home from work....his fault entirely.
  5. Michael is eating a grilled cheese....so you get answers from me. :) The costrels are about 4" wide, 4" deep, and 5" tall...they hold approximately 20 fluid ounces (which is about a watter bottle sized bottle of water). Although, he can do them bigger if need be. :)
  6. You're welcome. And thanks for the compliment.
  7. Just found a photo of her on MySpace....she's a doll...just like her mama.
  8. 8 pounds, 13 ounces, 22.5 inches long and arrived at 3:47 am.....according to Mae's myspace page. *sniffle* Kiera is precious too....
  9. Michael was kind enough to go to the post office for me today and put my book in the mail.
  10. Cheeky....you're killin me....lol.
  11. Well I tried to mail my book out to pyrateleather today.... Got to the post office at 4:35....4:35....and went inside and they started having a cow that they were closed. Apparently they close at 4:30. The main post office is open till like 5...so I just assumed. But no. There was yelling and hissy fits thrown. So I turned and walked out. And Michael will be taking the book to the post office closer to our house tomorrow to mail.
  12. Ok- I am going to go ahead and send my book out to pyrateleather tomorrow or Wednesday (depending on how the day goes at work each day). Just to clarify....whatever book we get, we send to the same person each time? So I am going to be sending each book I recieve from LadySeahawk, to pyrateleather....correct?
  13. Those are lovely....the swivel is a very unique and interesting idea!
  14. http://www.wmboothdraper.com/ This website....under the link for tapes and lace. It's the only inkling I could find in regards to "lace" on hats. http://www.woodedhamlet.com/tapes_braids/w...sted_twill.html This too. Although it really doesn't have any references per say. As a side note- grosgrain ribbon is relatively difficult to get smooth on the edge of something round...because it's polyester. Worsted wool stretches nicely to fit things like hat edging, which is likely why it might have been used. Edited to add: I have never seen a grosgrain ribbon that was anything but polyester, that's not to say that someone out there hasn't made it out of a natural fiber....but if they have, I haven't seen it in looking at many different ribbon sources. :)
  15. I bet you're handsome all gussied up like that... But I would have no idea who you were!
  16. Oh Dutch....your garb is loveleh... I told you in PM that I started calling it "Dutchifying" when we were on the SantaMaria and all those pirates we met were all pristine and clean... They were too clean....
  17. Well I decided to send the book I made with the sketchbook paper, not the handmade paper....can't part with it, it turned out so pretty! I'm going to work on my art for the first few pages and then will mail it out end of this week, early next week. :)
  18. I tend to handwash most of my things in the bathtub or the bathroom sink and then hang them up to dry. My question is....how does one clean a set of stays? I would imagine that handwashing in the sink would be alright, but what to clean them with? I would be afraid that the reed boning would be difficult to get detergent out of. Any suggestions?
  19. I can certainly ask her. I am sure that I will see her today.
  20. She's a crazy bronzer....that's about the extent of it. The stuff she makes is just very simple...and she can make just about anything you show her a photo of too.
  21. I found this on the Jamestowne website... http://www.apva.org/store/item_view.php?id=10 I bought Michael a viking style one (from when we were still doing viking re-enacting obviously) from Raymond's Quiet Press and it's made of bronze. And my friend Jen makes very very plain bronze ones...
  22. Well since the books you have are going to be coming to me when you're done, I'll take photos of your pages and email them to you. sound cool?
  23. I also whipped up a bound book with hardcovers and paper from my art sketch book...in case I can't part with the one Michael is making for me. The only problem I see....is that the handmade pages are a little bumpy, as handmade pages are, and some folks might have drawing issues with that. But like I said, there are regular smooth cardstock pages in there too. Oh....and none of the page colors match....at all. It's so fantastically random!
