WOW!! Thanks for the recipe. I will definitely have to try and make it. I have recently become interested in making Mead's and such. And I am hoping to become an apprentice to a master brewer that I met this year at Pennsic. His encampment is right next to ours. The group shared alot of their Meads, Wines, and Absinthe with us. Thanks again.

After checking on their patient, BriarRose, went back up stairs to get dressed. Quietly as not to wake Maeve, she donned her clothes and brushed her hair out. Splashing water on her face from the basin on the dresser she looked at her self in the mirror after drying off her face with a cloth towel. Her gleaming red hair framed her heart shaped face. There were slight smudges of gray beneath her blue-green eyes indicating that she had not gotten enough rested sleep. Pinching her cheeks to give her a bit of color she smiled at herself in the mirror as she pulled her hair back tying it securely with a black ribbon. Turning around she quietly went down the stairs. Once down the steps she went straight to the kitchen to boil some water for tea. There were still embers in the fire place that she gently stoked bringing the fire to life once more. After setting the pot of water up on the hook above the fire BriarRose went to the cupboard to get out a mug and the canister of tea and the canister of sugar. Once the water began to boil she carefully poured the hot water in to the mug. “Nothing like a nice hot cup of tea in the morning, “Briar said to herself as she savored the aroma of the tea. With a steaming mug in hand she went out to the main room where there was a small desk. Sitting down BriarRose took a sheet of paper and dabbing the quill pen in to the ink well she began to make a list of items that she required for her apothecary kit.

You made me laugh Lily, thanks. I became addicted to coffee when I was in college. I had night classes and needed to stay awake or focused depending on the professor. The tea in the machine was horrible so I switched to drinking black coffee. I love coffee and the different flavors. But aye, I usually need a cup of Joe in the morning to give me a kick start especially since I am a night owl.

Right now I have been living off of coffee to help my asthma. I have found out recently that a spoonful of honey in black coffee is very smooth and delicious. As when I am drinking tea, well, now with that I have been making some hot toddy's, either using Drambuie or Disaronno.

Mmm, I like Captain Morgan's with ginger ale. It is a crisp cool drink. My next favorite rum would be Parrot Bay, what can I say "yum".

At the moment I am listening to the pouring rain outside. And in the background the T.V. is on tuned in to the weather channel to see the progression of Hurricane Dean.

Last night we had Mexican Scrambbled Eggs with taco seasoning, garlic, and black pepper with sour cream, salsa and shredded cheese. Tonight we will be having chicken asian fried rice with chicken stirred fried in to the rice with soy sauce, with a bit of pepper and garlic. And I am making homemade biscuits seasoned with pepper, anise, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg. Once they are done I will add butter and honey to them. MMmmm, delicious.

Thank you Blue Puppy for the website. I have it booked marked. And it was a great find for me too, because the website also include a section on the Bronte sisters. Perhaps one day I will get to go there to Scarborough. I will put it on me wish list for sure.

Black Anne Rose, are you gonna be continuing your saga? I have been waiting to see what you were gonna come up with next.

my opinion there- a tattooshould just be porportionate to the area where its placed.a small tattoo on a small part (writs, ankle),larger tattoos on larger areas (calf, upper arm) and it should be the right shape a tattoo on the forarm should be taller than it is wide, on the upper back usually wider than tall, etc. thats how i (and most professionals) would explain it. the rest is totally up to you Aye, BlackBonnie is correct in the location and position of where and how tattoos should go. You should also be aware of the placement as to whether or not you want to show off your tattoo or keep it covered or have a choice of doing both. For me tattoos and their placement are very personal. Each of the 8 tattoos that I have were well thought out, placed accordingly and have a special meaning to me. I am hoping to get another tattoo soon, and I am trying to decide what I want for I have several ideas I have been going back and forth on.

What's your favorite smell???
BriarRose Kildare replied to Capt. Marcus Keys's topic in Beyond Pyracy
The smell of a summer rain and wet mud. Apples.....mmmm, I love the smell of apples. It is one of three scents that I use for shampoo, soap, lotion and perfume. The other two being vanilla and lavendar. It all depends on me mood. -

I am so glad that this thread has been resurrected. I am very much interested in the medical aspects of the time period and the use of Surgeons upon ships. I am starting to put together and apothocary's kit in the hopes of using it for re-enactments. I do have experience in the medical field and I am hoping to expand upon it. I recently just started a thread on Plagues, Viruses and Diseases. I am hoping that there are some out there that are as interested in this as I am. I may seem moribid, but I enjoy learning the about the different epidemics as well as the medica treatments that were given for wounds and such. Are there any books that can be suggested that I study for this topic on surgeons? It would be greatly appreciated if some one could tell me. what books are the best to get since at the moment my funds are limited. I am hoping to put several books on me Christmas/Yule wish list.

It is a lazy, rainy Sunday. And I am enjoying cuddling on the couch. Dorian and I are watching a QED special on the War that Made America. Me thinks I will make a nice warm cup of tea with honey and maybe a wee bit of Drambuie and just snuggle down for a bit and enjoy the day.
