Thin fingers dug around anxiously in between the folds of her skirt as Jane rummaged for the recently received bounty. Closing her hand around the pouch she pulled it out with a grin. She tossed it lightly in the air, catching the small leather sack again with a noticeable jingle. A soft peel of laughter escaped her lips at the sheer luck of it all. "I got enough ta make a gerl believe lucks on 'er side. Kent say as 'ow much is in 'ere but tis all yellow n shiny. From an anonymous benefactor, fer tha luck o tha crewe" Jane smiled, a genuine smile of enjoyment at the current turn of events and the potential for the future.

I think Red Cat's a little behind. Luckily it's her birthday & I'll cut her some slack ^ I did wear my army boots to death. Actually split the soles in half. I even slept in them. ^beach? you mean the strip of dirt next to the river? < I should be sewing. I just don't want too. Whine, whine. V what should you do that you don't?

“Least it’s jest one stop. Then we’ll ‘ead round ta tha yards.” Jane said flatly to Ioan as they descended to the waiting boat. She dropped over the side before him, sliding hand over hand down the rope, with an ease that surprised the three Dane’s below and raised an eyebrow from her reluctant companion. Jane was furious over the Welshman’s accompaniment but knew better than to question a captain, especially one as stubborn as Striker. The scowl on her pink face & the glare she shot at Ioan, when she bothered to look at him at all, was enough to make her feelings quite clear. Despite her annoyance though, Jane rather enjoyed seeing him scolded. After all it was the least his cocksure attitude deserved. Perhaps the memory of it would keep his attitude in check, at least where she was concerned.

^ Giving new people a job. If the first thing that someone learns about a group is that there is going to be work & they are going to be expected to participate in that, then those that aren't willing to work are more likely to not get involved to start with. (I personally think) That new comers need to know that they can't just put on a costume & play with a sword without putting time & effort into doing it. The kinds of people that are willing to work hard for something that they enjoy are the meat of any solid group and can with stand anything. < Geeze write an essay about it already! And I still didn't make any sense. V Prefer to do creative writing (fiction) or report writing (non-fiction)

Add an ner onto the end of that din and ye've got yer self a deal thar Mr. Red Wake. Now speaking o which, besides milk n cake n ice cream, wots being prepared for the fair Red Cat's natal day meal? Ken ye tell I'm hungry!

^ Long hair if it's good long hair. Too many greasy headed half bald guys who think long hair looks good on them. But I also have a serious weakness for crew cuts. < I got chocolate covered cheese in the mail today! too bad I have to save it V What's the last good thing you got in the mail?

Content with the answer supplied by the others, Jane began to relax. She pulled her hands from her sleeves, casually resting them on a barrel behind her. Deep down she hoped she hadn't insulted Jacky with her skepticism. She knew it was better to have the answers than the lingering doubts, yet she also didn't want to cause undue strain on their tentative friendship. As their eyes met across the gathered circle he nodded, the subtle move confirmation that her speaking out had been the right choice. With that, the last trace of trepidation evaporated. At that moment Jane knew she'd join the adventure, no matter how the plans panned out.
-
^ Cost. 2nd choice would be how many friends will be at each. < Ack, now I'm up early (for me at least). V What gets you up early?
-
^ Oh you're asking the wrong gerl! I sat threw The Last Emperor ( yes all 3+ hours) in a theater. For just bad, I've seen too many zero budget indie films to start naming names. Lets just say, not everyone who can pay for film school, should be making movies < WHY am I still up? V What keeps you up at night?
-
Woohooo! Happy birthday Red Cat. 'ere's a bit o fresh milk jest fer tha birthday cat. I'll even doctor it up fer ye, seein as it's yer day n all.

Jane slipped out into the cool night air along with her companions, hanging back just long enough to be the last out of the pub. While the others gathered close together around a collection of battered barrels, she hung in the shadows. Mr. Tar was playing the diplomat again, attempting to smooth Ransom’s feathers without ruffling Red Cat’s. Jane found the entire thing rather amusing, having never fully understood either woman’s quick temper. She had known that there would be conflict, though this was sooner than she had expected. Part of her mind told her to keep quiet, while the other half saw a rare opportunity to voice her thoughts without repercussions. Jacky finished his questions briskly, turning expectantly for the answers, only to be cut short by Jane’s clear but quiet voice. “N ye Mr. Tar. Ken ye say tha same? Seems ta me yer tha one holdin all tha cards ‘ere.” Thin arms folded across her chest, hand tucking into the opposite sleeves of her dress against the cold breeze. She stepped out of the darkness into the flickering moonlight that surrounded the gathering. “Ye’ve talked wif tha Dutchman was it? N ye ‘ad tha bottle stashed somewhere around. Ye know where we’re ta be sailing n yer tha one offerin up tha ship. After all tha ken ye say ye’d ‘ave no trouble sailing under someun elses flag?” Jane raised a thin brow to the older man. One hand extracted itself from the warm wool, palm out flat, halting Jacky’s answer, the startled expression on his tanned face more than enough. “Please sir, jest think on it.” “Tha only leaves tha Cat.” Green site shifted to Red Cat. From the corner of her eyes Jane could see Robert’s tense again. She’d seen him angry once before, a site that she had no desire to see again. Despite the nervous pounding in her chest, Jane focused on the other woman, ignoring the large man looming at her side. “Best I ken see, we don need ta know all o it. Jest enough ta know tha there isn’t gon ta be someun commin after ye n getting a bonus wif us too. Aye?”

CrazyCholeBlack replied to Gentleman of Fortune's topic in Crafting Kit
you need to train them to sit on the fabric. Cats make great fabric weights. Is that wool gab Pete? I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product! -
^ Both. I wear both equally depending on my mood. Although I have more scarves than hats. < dinner consisted of brats, cheese, beer & ice cream. Only in Wisconsin V What is something that would only happen in your state?

Argh! I hate that too. Snow puddles especially. Of course I'm wearing 3 socks so that makes up for your one right.

Well....we're not hurting for plots & plans, at least I'm not yet Personally I'd like to settle a little after the storm, get that Spanish sabotage underway & maybe we'll get the chance to see that pretty little ship of theirs sometime soon. If La Alma shows up on the horizon, imagine the panic that it could incite in the city. Damaged from the storm, no sign of Sir Henry & a Spanish ship looming about?! Anyway, just throwing in my two pence against another story wide crisis right now.

^ Wolves bane. Arsenic you get a total organ failure death from enzyme breakdown. Wolves bane slows the circulatory system and death comes from your heart stopping. A little less gruesome and painful. < Agrees with Cheeky, the stays stay. Their essential for keeping everything in it's place. V everything in it's place or stuff all over the place?
