aye, how can ye go wrong with duct tape?

tonight was a true pirates meal. beer tis me own fault for going out before havin supper.

aye looks much like the journey cap Townsend carries. A monmouth cap would be more appropriate to the GAoP. THose were worn well before period. Tis always safer to go earlier rather than later. Our own GOF has them avalible on occassion. Tis also an easy knittin project even for the beginners amongst us.

aye, me little swabs birthday just last Sunday was pirate themed. The invitations were on aged paper with burnt edges. I used text from an old advertisement for privateers with some of the words changed around. We had a treasure hunt, designing our own colors & treasure maps & played a rousing game of "captain says". We ate baked potato boats & orange juice for lunch. We set up our canoe as a pirate ship for the crew to play on. The sandbox served as the beach for them to storm. The cake was shaped like a treasure chest. Each crew member got a bag of loot with necklaces, coins, jewels & pirate tattoos to take home. Dinna have any grog though. Wouldn't want to send the little swabs home drunk.

House Style Chili. My verson is all red beans & chopped tomatoes with some onions, garlic & any red/yellow peppers I have on hand. Served over brown rice. Mostly though I just like the red beans. Now a shepards pie, that sounds good. I think I'll add that to the grocery list for tomorrow.

I noticed the red tricorn first thing after the lovely blue coat. Everything else I had to hunt for. Is that monkey riding a bear? Interesting picture indeed.

I know that eye glasses were invented well before the GAoP yet I don't seem to find many references to them during the period. I also can't recall seeing any images with someone wearing or even holding them. I am hoping that some of the more studious might be able to assist me in this tidbit of research.

Captain, are the raw edges of the brown coat left unhemmed as well as the black coat? This is a detail I have never heard of previously. It comes as a great boon to me, honestly hemming the bottoms is my least favorite task. The black coat is especially beautiful, the trim is outstanding. I already had plans to purchase the RH patterns but seeing that fabulous coat has sealed the deal. I only hope my limited skills can do them the justice your work has. I look forward to seeing the other Crew makeovers.

What the perfect thread for a new commer like myself to find. Such inspiration & creativity in everyones colors. Some of the designs have such fine line work involved, I'm wondering how much is being done on a graphics program vs by hand & scanned? I've never gotten particularly good with the graphics and am in a bit of awe. Thank you all very much for sharing.

TLAPD is my grandmother's birthday. I wonder how she'd react if I attend dinner that night in full garb? I wouldn't be the strangest thing I've worn to a family function. Otherwise I usually annoy the Swabbie with my Argh's and Avasts all day long. Chole

Such wonderful garb everyone. Makes me feel a might inadaquate. I'm sorely lacking in weapons if nothing else. Here's the beginings of a kit I whipped up for myself this spring before heading to the Port Washington Pirate Fest here in Wisconsin. These were taken after 2 full days of wear & entirely too much driving. I've since shrunk out of the bodice which is a shame. It was a lot of work to sew!
