Teeth ground tightly together as Jane tried to calm her anger, slow breath drawn through her tight jaw. Green eyes fluttered closed as she exhaled, shoulders dropping in resignation. She knew a wall when she saw one, and there was no sense in trying to push against it. She’d have the final say with the brash Welshman, given enough time and patience. “Fine then. Jest keep quiet. I don’t need ye makin’ this any worse than already is.” With that Jane spun around, slipping silently through the back rooms of the tavern to the main hall, Ioan at her heels.

That's exactly why I don't sleep. I can't get my mind to shut off. The problem is I have my best ideas at night while trying to fall asleep. It's when I do all my writing. I usually lay there thinking out the words in my head & seeing the story as if it were a movie until it's "perfect" before committing anything to the computer. I'd shut my brain off and get more sleep, but I don't want to loose that creative side that comes out at that time either. Eh, what are you going to do, except sneak in a nap in the afternoon when you can :)

Well, since my own weapon is my wit, Mr. hand, I think I can safely fly with it on me Mary, yes please keep me in mind. We'll see what can be worked out as the time approaches.

I won't be 100% sure until July BUT.... put me on the trying her damnedest list. Closer to the date I'm going to need a bunch of travel help. Anyone want to volunteer to help me? I've only traveled once via plane & it makes me really nervous. I really love the idea of meeting up with people at the airport and traveling the last bit with others. I'll also need ideas etc about camping. There's no way I'm going to all the trouble of going to FL to stay in a modern tent or (gods forbid) a hotel, but I'm of course also a girl & there's the entire question of girls at the camp etc. Luckily there is still time to figure all that out. Anyway, long winded way of saying, I put it on the plan. Yippie!

As far as I know, knitting started in what, the 1500's or 1600's and was naturally applied first to things that needed stretch like stockings. But since our period is still early in knitting history, knitted isn't the only option. There are still cut cloth stockings in the period. I know Kass has a cut cloth pattern in an earlier period & I could swear there is a free one on-line but I can't find the blasted link. Cut cloth is easy to do, but doesn't fit anything like knitted stockings. They are saggier and have to be customized more to the size of the persons foot/calf. Also, don't forget to cut them on the bias. They really don't work if you forget that part From what I know the main problem with modern "re-enactor" stockings is that they are machine knit and the gage is too fine. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but the shaped heel wasn't applied at first, so stockings were straight tubes. Also I think they weren't knitted with circular needles but with double pointed straights, which gives a slightly different finished look than the constant spiral on a circular needle. Try Rutt's "History of Handknitting" for more information on knitted items.

That said, since this *isn't* Twill, if you like your bull whip & want your faire going pirate to carry one, have at it. :)

I'm not an insomniac. Nope, no way! I'm a major night owl though. I love the 24 hour stores & on-line shopping. Then I don't have to worry about it being 3am. Contrary to what others think, I really do sleep perfectly regular amounts.

What you do when someone drinks all your rum, Silkie. Speaking of which, I've got this nice new double handled mug that I understand is fer somethin called "sharing". If ya fill it up Mary, I might consider tryin this sharing thing. If not, I'll keep holding it with both handles, lest any o these others try ta grab it.
