I seem to remember reading that Guy Fawkes was sentenced to be drawn and quartered after being hung (but not until dead). While he was being turned off the ladder he leapt and broke his neck in the noose, thus denying the public the show they had hoped for.

I've got to go with Rob Roy. You see some interesting elements in the last fight seen with Rob and Archie. Archie does a lot of hanging parries which are rather like saying "You are so out of your league! I can kill you anytime!" Rob holding the broadsword above his head and bracing with the second hand showing signs of fatigue. Brilliant!

So what is the difference between what is called a jelly, jam, preserves, or something like apple butter? Is it a difference in name, manufacture, or content?

Recently I was reading about a type of weapon used to deter pirates boarding a ship. A smaller canon ball is wrapped in oil soaked cloth, ignited, and hurled on the ships attempting to board. I can't recall which book it was in and the name of the weapon seems familiar but now I can't place it.

What about those pirates (or pirate hunters like Kidd) who sailed off the eastern coast of Africa attempting to capture Mogul ships making the haj to Mecca? Might they take a Middle Eastern weapon or two (how about those lovely pearl covered muskets)??

Anyone make any cockades or rosettes they would like to share? I'm curious and would like to make my own but I'm not certain where to start...

I was just reading something about Newton and it suggested that he constructed a set of glasses with colored lens to see light break into the spectrum. I believe it was gold colored lens and the wearer saw everything with a blue haze.
