I seem to recall seeing a depiction of a group of slaves chained together and tethered to a heavy object forced over the side of a ship. The slaves were alive at the time. The reason behind this cruel event I do not remember.

One idea you might consider is going in with another merchant on space at a larger event. Perhaps contacting a few merchants who sell pirate items (but different from castaway) might be an idea?
-
I've noticed that a few Pirate events post an application for vendors. Might that be a first line of attack for you gents?

Great tales gentlemen!

Curious as to why many of you decided to become pirates... can you place a reason behind the passion?

Thanks Pegleg!

Great images! Where did you find them?

I'm headed to Sarasota Florida late April/ early May and I'm looking for some pirate fun! Anyone know of pirate themed bars, tall ships, or historical events in the area?

As a side note silas: My stage combat training is through a Renaissance Faire group. They also teach small sword which is more GAOP. Perhaps your group does too?

Mama Juana

Good point! I did bring some of the herb and bark home in a bottle. Made it through customs but then again I didn't mention it.

When first asked if I wanted to try this beverage I thought they had offered me something to smoke...

During my recent trip to the Dominican Republic I was offered a local drink called "Mama Juana". Gave it a try and found it quiet nice. I guess it has origins back with the native Tanio who made a tea from herbs and tree bark. The Europeans introduced the idea of adding rum, red wine and honey. The locals claim this drink is helpful for lovers. I thought it had a taste similar to Port.

For modern pirates of a more fantastic nature I seem to recall a fellow who sold hand hooks that you could strap on your limb to give the appearance of having a hook. These items looked super cool but I have heard of faires and events that don't allow them.

I'm just finishing my last day in the DR as I write this post. Wonderful place! Punta Cana is beautiful! I would suggest it to anyone.

I was also a grounds keeper. Honestly I enjoyed the work!

Honestly I never thought the leper audience would be that aggressive to require a change in the film for sensitivity.

I have placed two Steampunk adventures on the site. Most of the tales will take place in either the Buccaneering or Golden Age of Piracy time lines.

Don't be shy my pirate friends. This is not a facebook game like Mafia Wars or Farmville. Rather it is a series of short stories where you determine how a tale ends. I start a mini adventure ("You are trapped in the Four Turns tavern in Port Royal by the rival crew of Juan "The Snake" Gomez! What do you do?"). I include a graphic and you simply comment on how you'd handle the situation. You can be funny, serious, or even post that you think that my tales stink!
Who knows it might amuse you...

New adventure posted with Francis Drake and his voyage to the great western ocean. Inspired by historical events.

Do you remember those "Choose your own adventure books"? You would read a story and then get a choice of what happens next. I got something similar you might enjoy.

the article mentions "teeth and worms" as a cause of death.
