here's some some scientific data on the subject: Green Flash

None. for dinner I made home-made pizza with Boboli bread & whole tomatoes, mushrooms, cheese, and it put me to sleep by 9......now I am undeniably wide awake.

I'm up! 1:10 am 2 hours of open eye, now I'm out of bed. More Sopranos re-runs on A&E. I think I'll wash the kitchen floor now.

No offence taken, sorry it came off as rude, I wasn't trying to be.

Now....back to the original subject. I was very dissapointed over the weekend after having developed a couple of rolls of 35mm film that I shot at the Newport Tall Ships, it seems that the camera battery died, thereby, causing the light meter to fail. Note to self: always use fresh batteries when on a photo shoot. I used a Pentax ME Super. However, knowing that mishaps do happen, I also took my Canon SD500 digital. The harbor shot is from the center span of the Pell Bridge. For those who have traveled this bridge, the view is quite majestic and breathtaking...only more so with square-rigged ships. The second is from Beavertail Point in Jamestown:

Long before "POTC-At Worlds End" ever made a big deal of the so-called green flash, I have heard stories in and around SW Florida about this phenomenon. Even the staff at restaurants that have a full panoramic view of the Gulf of Mexico that make their money on the "sunset crowd" (such as Gulf View grille in Englewood Beach) have always talked about it. But then again some inns inhistoric districts always have ghost stories. I have seen many a sunset in SW Forida, the Keys, to and the Carribbean, desparately awaiting the green flash and have yet witness such a phenomenon. ...still. But then again, I have never seen the Aurora Borealis either. Anyone ever seen it? ....anyone?

^ I have taken pictures off the wall and rearranged furniture. I looked back on said incidents and I have no reason why I would do such a thing. < I am now fully capable of sleeping on a hardwood floor, sans pillow. Personally, I think this is disturbing. V Ever sleep outdoors...with no tent?

Lady renee, you are not the only one. I have Gordon Lightfoot loaded up on my work computer, and this song stands out the most. ...and I'm a Gen-Xer, go figure! I lived in Chicago, right directly across from the Lincoln Park Zoo, between '99 and '01, and every time I see lake Michigan, even, I always think of this song.

Well, it's definitely pine.

....to be Lisa Gerrard (of Dead can Dance) and sing movie soundtracks in that dreamy medieval way that she sings. She is the one that started it all.

lady Alyx, you are bringing a tear to my eye.

For ten friggin' dollars!!! ($10) I was at B&N last night, and the sale area up front had The Great Sailing Ships by Franco Giorgetti (VMB Publishers). Great details, including mechanical drawings, illustrations, and of course, some great detailed photos form the salvaged Swedish 17th century ship Vasa, which I swear the Dsiney people referenced for the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman. I posted some links to the Vasa on another post (Black Pearl) in the Pyracy Pop forum, this is one of the links:Vasa Here's the Book:

May I suggest a ship called "Vasa". I think Disney designers eyed this particular vessel when designing the Black Pearl and Flying Dutchman Vasa Vasa Vasa Vasa

^In one particular job, I got set up by a number of other employees (in true Enron fashion), some of which were my supervisors. T'was a kind of traumatic experience. <Kids are so creative when they are young...

Worn out....and pissed. Yay, my product that I designed is going to be sold at Walmart., the greatest retailer on the planet. that Boo, my product I that designed is going to be sold at Walmart, those fuckers ( this is appropriate language) are destroying manufacturing and everything else on Earth to sell their dumb-downed product. I have chosen to design sneakers so I wouldn't have to work for Nike, another evil entity. I am desparately trying to go into business for myself. You walk into the sneaker department and you will know Matusalem, God save me. Now.

I've lived as much 1950's as I could ever want to....invested in vintage clothes, music, and even automobiles. I could supply Paramount Pitcures with enough stage props to do another "Pleasantville". I had the opportunity to see Elvis' first guitarist Scotty Moore play and, also be offered to play the bass for one of Elvis' ex-flame and rockabilly star Wanda Jackson (right when I broke my wrist). I apololgize for anything that seems like self glorification, but then again, you are not much different than me. Since I grew up in , Rhode Island, I would have been very curious to see the militia of Benjamin Church fight Metacomet in King Philip's War of 1676 (B&N now has a bestseller about the Mayflower, which tells all about it) . As a teenager, we used to party and get drunk & stoned in an obscure inlet called Mussachuck Creek in Touisset, which was famous for battles between the natives and the English settlers, complete with indian ghost stories and all. I went to high school with the descendants of said Church, and also Rhode island rum-runners/slave traders by the name of De Wolf. Both well-known names, so I'm not divulging private info. I'll leave it at that. Again, I apoogize for any self-glorification, but it's just a subject I read up on.

Yep, been there, done that. Here's the link: Key West Express That's what I was trying to tell everyone last year, I did this going to PIP'06. Basically the ferry leaves Ft Myers beach around 9 or so and arrives in KW around 12:30, then departs either 5 or 6 pm, everyday. It's best to book your tickets a couple of weeks in advance so you can save $30 . It cost me less than $80 for r/t because I booked in advance. newspaper advertises discounts (coupons). Many folks at PIP drive to KW because they can load up their cars/vans full of gear, camping equipment, weapons. But I imagine that the ferry can't be any worse than flying into KW. Below is a couple of pics from the last voyage:

Wow, that guy can out sing Louis Armstrong with a gruffer voice than a bag of dry tree bark. All day long today, I've been in the mood for Appalachian Murder ballads (Bill Monroe, Carter Family, Louvin Brothers)...songs like "Knoxville Girl". Right now I'm listening to ex-Throwing Muses' Kristin Hersh sing a very haunting "I Never Will Marry" The shells in the ocean Will be my deathbed And the fish in the waters Swim over my head" She plunged her fair body In the waters so deep She closed her pretty blue eyes In the waters to sleep

...and in your case, once you get out on the water, you could always attempt the old nautical term "Hudson River Jibe".
