  1. Wow, I had forgot. Back in 2003, there was suppose to be some sort of screening I think at the Pirates in Paradise Festival in Key West, FL. Though I was at the event, I don't recall if it actually happened, maybe @Hurricane recalls? Looks like I'm going to have to dig out my DVD.
  2. Welcome Morgan Dreadloke Back to Pyracy Pub!
  3. Found some wool at the thrift store for $10, it's not a full bolt, some pieces have already been cut from it - but I couldn't resist.
  4. Well my experiment (1 part beeswax and 2 parts boiled linseed oil) almost ended with real disastrous results this time around and I feel real stupid. I cooked/heated up the mixture on a propane burner (like I have done before), then applied it to what was suppose to be a ground cloth and shelter awning. I let it dry/cure for a few days - inside the shade of the garage. The ground cloth seemed to have a bit more of the beeswax on it, so I wrapped the cloths together in hopes the excess beeswax would rub off/melt into the awning. I set the bundle outside (in the sun) while I did some work in garage - checking on it every 15/20 minutes. After an hour or so of this, I noticed the bundle wasn't warm - it was hot - really hot. I unwrapped the cloths and put them in a tub of water - there was lots of steam with the water almost seeming to boil. After everything had soaked for a good long time, I could see that both cloths had serious scorch marks - parts were stiffened almost like a cardboard - the integrity of the canvas was obvious lost at this point and ruined. So I've decided to abandon doing weather proof cloth this way, I think I'm going to go with silicon and mineral spirits - per Picaroon Lagoon's suggestion.
  5. Noice, that sausage looks delicious! How did the bread turn out making it with the spent beer grain, pre-french toastifying?
  6. Shirt is looking smart! What a great - simple pattern.
  7. Excellent score! Loving the striped ticking/quasi canvas materials and nice job on the britches.
  8. Makes me want to plan a trip to the museum.
  9. I think it might be. Even though I can't afford it, I almost bought another today after posting this. Thanks William!
  10. Rob Gorrell's Lanterns are da bomb! I ordered an unfinished/antique Open Top Lantern. I sponged it with some oxidized vinegar that added a distressed look and brought out some rust.
  11. Yes! MarkG would be another great source - thanks Mary!
  12. We're actually in the process of hooking Mad Mike with his previous account/profile, https://pyracy.com/profile/1572-madmike/
  13. That's a brilliant idea - we should do that!
  14. I think William Brand might be a good source for this, I know he's occupied with other things just this moment. Dutchman would be another candidate, but as far as I know he hasn't made his way back to the Pub yet.
  15. Welcome aboard Mad Mike to Pyracy Pub!
  16. I've been dabbling with the idea of making another one, but realistically I've got too many projects I need to finish before starting another one. Keep us posted on how your search is going!
  17. I was thinking that looked big compared to the quarter in I purchased.
  18. Hey D B, any luck on finding yourself a waistcoat?
