Ouch!
-
The answer is yes, I recently found 8' an 12'+ banisters at my local box store - I actually like the idea of using something like this for the center ridge pole - thanks Captain Oatmeal!

When I first got the tent and put everything together, I used a 2x4 (could have used a 2x3) for the center beam and used 2x2s for the support poles. Cascabel made pins for the poles to connect everything together. Since it looks like I'm going to be making new ones, I'll likely go with the lag bolt method. At this point I've looked at or for round tent, closet & flag poles - none of the brick and mortar stores seem to have the wood ones in stock. I did find a lumber yard that had 4"x8' round poles - of course I need 9ft for the center beam and 4" is too big for the support poles. I've looked online and the prices are just crazy - not including shipping. A friend has invited me to come cut stuff (pine) down on his property. I've got a few scrub oaks growing here - I'll likely go with one of these options or a combination.

After a long thorough search of the garage, I'm at a total loss as to where my tent poles wandered off to... I've checked out Lowe's and a number of local lumber yards and still no joy finding replacements - suggestions are welcome, I need a 3in or 4in by 9ft pole for the center beam and a couple 2in or 3in by 7ft support poles.

I had setup a feature that allowed users to edit within the first 2 or 3 hours of making their post. But several folks have asked to edit their posts days and months afterwards.

All User/Members should now be able to Edit their own posts - someone please let me know if it works correctly.

I'd love to see your impression!

From my recollection, Peeps on the Pub are a fairly friendly lot. I only recall having to ban a few folks and even then it wasn't permanent. You know it's been a long time since I've reviewed our Rules of Engagement - at the moment I don't recall what they say, but I think you're right or correct.

Old conversations about Pub Status and Reported Bugs

Yes that has a problem, a few people would edit or even delete their posts after getting folks riled up. And with our current political climate... But some of us are adults here and you're not the first making this request. Let me talk it over with William and get back to you.

Excellent! A friend is offering to loan me a set that he hasn't used for years. But I like the set you have/suggested, much easier on the pocket book.

Today, 2023 0325 we updated the Pub's Software to version 4.7.8 That includes updates to the User Interface, Downloads & GraphQL enhancements (whatever that is). It obviously messed with our layout - I'll get to work fixing that. Hopefully it'll be fixed within the next few days. In the mean time everything should be working as before, but please report any connection, navigation or display issues. Thanks

Considering I have a (limited) background in printing - silkscreen, vinyl, plex/channel letters, neon, hand painted signs, xerox, pmt photo prints, surprisingly I've never noodled around with block print making. Does anybody have a suggestion for a solid set of gouge tools? These maybe a bit steep, but was highly recommended by someone on YouTube. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006FHM3G6/?coliid=I337Y3JZCMPW09&colid=2D7342J2H6MNS&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

This is such a simple-cool idea. With all the spare time on your hands (LOL), you've got to make one - please share your process.

Very nice! Do you have any plans to finish it (the outsides) with stain/linseed oil? Or are you going to let it just age with use? -

Wow Swab, as always beautiful work! Thanks for sharing images of the process.

OMG, it would be hilarious to make a period style city scape /day in the life type scene using these characters in block print.

Breakfast Waffles Over The Fire - 18th Century Cooking with Townsends
Stynky Tudor replied to William Brand's topic in Galley
I'm sorry, but NO you can't. Reheating homemade frozen waffles in a microwave is against all natural law and violates several (secret) Pyracy Pub Policies. Besides it changes the texture to yuk. As a PPM, Pyracy Pub Member, you are only entitled to reheat such things with either a toaster, toaster oven or open flame. -
No actually, right now the more the merrier!...I think. As for kinds/types of content, that's up to Duchess. But I think this first round is more about fun and becoming familiar with the tools and learning the process.

Buying books blind over the internet/off Amazon - not the best idea. At least not for visual media. Looks like it's time to visit my local/physical book store.

How long did it take to get parts? Do you have any in-process images of your build? I've been sitting on a Pedersoli Queen Anne kit for more than a decade, still haven't gotten around to doing anything with it. The lines on the Rifle Shoppe piece is beautiful.
