Speaking of Thrift Shop finds... I thought I would pick this up to use as garment lining, but it turns out to be pretty substantial material - heavy cotton (queen size) bed sheets, that could use them to make slops or a waistcoat or even just use as a light blanket. I think this is a linen/cotton blend or maybe it's just cotton I don't know. But it's a good size table cloth with rounded ends. Not sure what I'll do with it, probably a jacket, waistcoat or maybe a flag.

Actually I was thinking about reviving one of Cascabel's old characters, the Rev. Testicleese, (suggestively) preach about the sins of the flesh, hellfire, brimstone. He also had a bible that would flash and shoot flame in the air when opened - I never did pay attention to how he actually did that...

Excellent and thank you!

I'm thinking most of us would prefer something that is actually edible, but Ship's or Sailor's Biscuits would be perfect for living history demonstrations. I had planned to make a batch before heading out, but if you're committing to make some - I won't bother. đ

Well I've happily destroyed one of my new fire bulbs! It appears the bulbs I purchased are different from the bulbs in the video example and aren't very happy with 9v/12v - especially when you try and by-pass the ICs (integrated circuits). I did get the bulb to light up/come on with a 9v battery, but only for a few seconds (not in animated flame mode) before burning out completely. I've now ordered some 12v specific bulbs, we'll see how that goes.

Noice!

The plan is to have some sort of food prep happening and available through out the day - we'll make sure covfefe is a part of that!

I don't know what you did either. đ¤ˇââī¸ As solid as this message board software has become, odd things pop up now and then. And why it wouldn't undo with the strike-through icon selected/unselected is beyond me.

It might get whittled down to eggs, toast and a kick in the..., but I am bringing the waffle iron.

Big thanks to Chris! I think the last time I bought a single can, it was $25/$28 - $35 is totally reasonable.

Or assuming that I'll have the space, I can take them back with me and drop them off at your house on my way back.

That That seems about right. Thanks.

Not a problem, I was curious as to the status of the other ones being made (not by you) - those came out beautiful by the way. I just talked with William, he told me that no one else came through. âšī¸

A while back we seemed to be having weekly conversations about them, but the topic fell off as more important things needed to addressed. What's the status of our linstock/lantern holders? How many do we have and where are they?

YES, that is so cool!

The answer is NO. Thus dashing our original plans to camp outside the Fort Gaines early/pre-event and staying an extra day. Anyone that planned to camp early outside Fort Gaines before the event needs to contact William Brand for alternatives.

Talking about how hot it's going be, I was thinking we could make some of this.

Excellent. Do we know how much Chris will be selling said black powder for? I assume we're talking 3F, it's been ages since I purchased black powder.

I can make a sort of spanish rice, toasted rice browned in butter with onions, garlic, tomato/mild salsa, peas, carrots, salt an pepper. It's nothing special but usually goes well with other things - adds bulk and is filling.

Can you share your process for threading the legs and joints?

That works too. In fact Amazon has usb rechargeable 9v batteries...

That William guy never seems to post the cool stuff here. đ
