  1. Not Sure when it will be, or if anyone is interested, but a few of my mates have already expressed an interest. But the Devil's Brood Pyrates (Ohio Chapter) is planning a pirate photoshoot, sometime in the spring at either Squire's Castle or Mentor Headlands Beach (both are in Ohio, one is on Lake Erie) This event is still in the early stages of development, so if the event is gonna happen, I need to have enough people interested and planning on attending... it will probably be in the spring/summer of this year. There is NO entrance fee, or fee to have photos taken, or fees whatsoever, policys in regard to food/drink/props are essentually, bring you own, and donations, to keep the Brood running, are appreciated, but not required.
  2. linen was around, so I would think, that if it was found by pirates, yes they would use it. It is historically accurate, I believe, so linen would work.
  3. Black Bart's Articles dictated that everyone was allowed a 'shift of clothes' when a ship was taken, Black Bart himself, was reputedly, a VERRY dapper dresser, having died in a crimson damask waistcoat, large hat with red feathers, and a gold cross studded with diamonds. But in all honesty, I have read they would have had rougher clothes worn when at sea, and much finer clothes for Shore Leave, plundered from wealthy indiviuals. Although, I suspect that a pirate could have had the inclination to dress in a simple silk vest or waistcoat, but would most likely save their finest clothes for shore leave. I myself play the 'Gentleman Pyrate' archtype, so I dress in more elaborate outfits, beacause my character was raised an aristocrat in Charles II court. That being said, I am still considering an elegant, yet VERY toned down outfit for while at sea.
  4. I'm not sure to be honest, first I was interested interested in trains all the way, then out of nowhere, I found myself surrounded by, and part of the Brethren of the Coast. My current theory is seeing a trailor for Cutthroat Island when I was verry young, and thinking how epic it looked, and that's what did it. I honestly think I could be re-incarnated from a pirate, and I've been trying to place the pirate based on personality, and exploits, without much success. IDK maybe if I really wanna look into this, a past life regression would do it.
  5. Iron Hand be a Lowdly-Quiet man of Mystery. He runs his ship like a Mercenery Hessian with a Grudge against the World, but he treats his crew with respect, as long as they do what's required of them. He's honest to a fault and able ta lie his way out of any situation, I mean twist the Truth when necessary. He's a good Captain to have as a Friend but a terrible one to have as an Enemy. He loves ta drink but expects his men ta be able to act soberly. There's non meaner and non kinder. Slow and Sure he is and rarely made the fool, least not more than once...Savvy? I can add you to a group of pirates going to raid a chines-esque treasure port.... I need to know about your ship and it's armnement/class though.... also, since this is fantasy pirate novel taking place in an parralell universe, I can actually give your character an IRON hand say, cursed or magical. your choice.
  6. I can include you in fleet of pirates on a raid about to take place.... get me some info on your character's personality, and your ship (type, armnement, number of crew)
  7. If you want to be involved mate, I'm working on a part needing more Captains right now! However, Before I can include you, I will say, It takes place in Frenchesque waters, I will likely include you in a raiding party, and I need to know about your character, so I can accurately depict them for their 15 minutes of fame, that being said, I need to know A: ship you command (Name type, number of guns, number of men) B: character apperance and personality
  8. reworking beginning... I can reference a maximum of 7 captains in the raid that opens the series. Now is the time to speak up. also, please respond to messages I sent you about ideas I had to include you... otherwise I won't know if it is acceptable or not.
  9. I would think most carried blades, pistols fired one shot, then were useless, even with a brace of them, you would still be defenseless in the melee that was boarding combat... though if they were hard to come by, they probably stole them when the got the chance... though pistols could also be used as clubs, and boarding axes were also in use.
  10. I first heard this song playing on the old Dead Men Tell No Tales store site. It drove me nuts trying to find the lyrics, but eventually I did!
  11. Once I get some money... and some other costume pieces squared away.... we're gonna have to talk about my 'Sea Reaper' short sword design.
