Dread Pyrate Greyhound

I have a flinlock pistol I got from a vendor at a medieval faire, problem being it's covered in rust, and the spring beneath the frizzen is weak. I was told by a member of 'Blackberd's Crewe' to heat the spring to a grey heat and bend it, My old fencing teacher told me a good way to clean rust off swords is to run some wet tinfoil own it, and I wonder if that would work the same, Any advice?

Yeah, someone does need to do something piratey for the inland states. I've toyed with the idea of building a pirate festival on Lake Erie, maybe Kelley's Island.

I know how to write in caligraphy... or rather my handwriting looks like a 17th century letter sometimes.... maybey there's a way to upload that?

Matt is actualy currently working on a custom cutlass for me, it's an interesting peice The handguard is the same style as their Long Jon Silver but it's heated to be a gold color to match the pronze skull pommel I asked him to put on it. I can't wait for it to arrive. I may also commision him to make me a custom dussagge cutlass later once I have some more money.... and a job.

I have read both the books Foxe is recomending, and they are very informative, both the authors are piratologists, and I believe David Cordingly was used as a reference/ consultant when research was being done for the first Pirates of the Caribbean. So I would advise reading them as well. A book I recently read and enjoyed was 'THE LAST DAYS OF BLACK BEARD THE PIRATE' by Kevin Dumas, It is a new veiw on the history of the notorious Blackbeard, and wether or not it is accurate the auther still did his research, looking into the dark corners of history and as a result the book is a fascinating read any way you slice it.

I know what ya mean when ya say that you're landlocked, I'm stuck in Ohio, and even though we have the Great Lakes, there's not a single pirate festival on them, sure there's the Niagra but that's in PA, and not even a pirate ship. I've actually toyed with the idea of building a pirate fest on Kelley's Island or something like that.
