  1. Talk about a major plot twist, and very well written too. Nice job mate.
  2. This is a pirate roleplay set during the 1660s in the carribbean, anyone is welcome to participate, that being said, Here is the begining. Shadows danced accross the rooftops of Santiago, yet there was little light to cast them, as no moon hung in the sky. A Black shape pulled into the harbor and dropped anchor, a longboat was launched, when it arrived on shore, a tall figure standing at the bow walked into the nearest tavern, not even waiting for his men to fallow. He drew his cutlass, kicked open the door and bellowed "Where is that dog El Torro! He betrayed me to the dons and I shall have his head for it!"
  3. Actually, Barbossa's pistol was a little different, the buttcap was shaped like a skull for opn thing, and It had a lot of elegant silver fixtures on black wood
  4. Yes it was, Barbossa's pistol was the same gun used by Doug Brown in Cutthroat Island.
  5. There have been a couple of arcticles written about this, one such theory states there could have been a reason he couldn't get it. Personally, the story is Black Beard shifted the best part of his plunder to the sloop Adventure and left, You wouldn't be able to bring up chests of treasure from the hold, and swing it over on the boom without the rest of his crew, or fleet, noticing. It's also possible that it was his, and was just a trophy sword or he wore it when on the town, There are some accounts of Blackbeard dressing in Gentleman's attire when on shore leave.
  6. <P>Now that is a nice peice, Wish i'd thought of requesting a wood handle on my commission, but I didn't think about it, oh well, more's the pity. I'll have to remember it for next time, if I ask you guys to make me a dussagge.</P>
  7. I must admit, I'm a little hesatant about this one as well considering a lot of key players like Gore Verbinski and the Pintel and Regetti pair aren't in it, plus some of the plot points are questionable.
  8. Diver's working on the QAR wrecksite pulled up part of a sword they believe to be Blackbeard's cutlass, it's primarily the handguard, with part of the blade, here's one of the arcticles about it: http://www.theepochtimes.com/n2/content/view/49332/
  9. These are all really cool, eventually I'm going to commission a 17th century style bicorn, similar to the one Governor Ensley had in Cutthroat Island.
  10. I heard that Mr Depp loves to play Jack Sparrow and has said, "he'd love to play him again if the script was good" So an indicater of wether or not future istallments of Pirates of the Caribbean are gonna be good is if he's on cast.
  11. If you're needing a Spanish translation, just go to http://www.online-translator.com/ I have found it's the most accurate online translater there is.
  12. Division of plunder, compensation for wounds, punishment for striking another, duels, punishment for theft, various offenses penishable by marooning, as well as superstion associated with code. Black Bart, Edward Low, George Lowther and John Phillip's article are discussed in particular. It's also a useful book as it discusses in some detail buccaneer and pirate society in a couple chapters. I am almost to Chapter 6 in the book and have nearly finished reading about the Brothren of the Coast. There are 8 chapters in all. In order they are Piracy in the Ancient World, Viking and Barbary Pirates, Pirates of the Far East (which mainly deals with Japanese Pirates called 'wokou') Pirate Democracy, The Brethren of the Coast, Tales from the Caribbean, The Golden age of Piracy, and Piracy Today.
  13. Well It's been a while since I've read either of those books, my personal preference when it comes to piratical nonfiction is a book with illustrations from varying sources, diagrams of things pertaining to the passage and enough text so that what i'm reading won't make me consider wether or nat I'm reading a child's picture book. The book I'm reading now is fascinating for all these reasons in addition to the fact that it contains new information I haven't encountered before. The book is 'The Pirate Code; From Honerable Theives to Modern-Day Villains' by Brenda Ralph Lewis. It is a fascinating Study of how Pirate's articles of aggreement evolved starting with laws made by ancient pirate cheifs, working it's way through history by way of Vikings, Coarsairs, and Asian Pirates and into the Brothren of the Coast's Customs of the Coast, and how it influenced Pirates like Roberts, Phillips and the like, it isn't just the study but also a history of pyracy around the world from ancient times to today.
  14. From the album: Pirate Art

Organizations like the SCA and the like have Crests, I figured designing a Crest for The Devil's Brood would add a bit of flair to the guild. I incorporated themes from classic heraldry but also designs and themes of nautical and pyratical association.

My design for the Flag of The Devil's Brood, The Guild of pyrate crews I founded with Commodore BlackJack Brimstone who I met down in Virginny at the Hampton blackbeard Fest. Athough, Blackjack suggested I make the horns on the skull Bull horns since a bull has long been a simble of strength.

  16. I would love to join The Order of Laviathon, But I really haven't accomplished all that much yet. Plus The Devil's Brood, the Guild of Pyrate crews I founded, is just barely getting off the ground seeing as I only starting talking to the other founding member Cap'n BlackJack Brimstone about putting it together on the last day of A local renfaire's pyrate weekend last summer.
  17. So I see an expert, If he tells me it has these faults, I'll have to buy a new flintlock, and put this one in a display case. If It's OK, i'll take yor suggestions on cleaning it into account and fix it up so it can be fired. Thanks everyone!
  18. Alright, thanks mates, I'll have an expert look it over and see if it's safe to fire.
  19. To be honest, I haven't checked the inside, but I'm asuming it is.
  20. Yes, It looks exactly like those two, exept more like the lower one, and it doesn't have a belt clip. Maybe 'not as much kick' was a poor description, let me try again, it used to be able to keep the frizzen in place very easily, and was stronger and less bendable, but now the frizzen is easily bent and weaker, a slight tap will rattle it open. But I'm pretty sure It has a thick coating of rust beacause the barrel and fireing peice are a solid dark color, not exactly a redish brown rust color, more of a browinsh dark Grey, and rubing the barrel does cause red/brown rust particles to fall off onto your fingers.
  21. Me and old man need some buckled black leather shoes for an upcoming feast being thrown at a historical inn on the 16th of January. Which leaves only a week to get them. Are they on the market yet? You guys have any buckled leather shoes for sale?
  22. To answer your questions, 1. It was part of the last few batches of flintlocks made in China and Japan a few decades ago as part of a trade deal between those Countries and the US. 2. It was meant to be fired, I got a flint set in it by a member of Blackbeard's Crewe and it sparks properly. 3. I believe It's a sea service pistol, as it has a shorter barrel and a brass buttcap. 4. The rust is extenstive to the point that all the steel components, except the ramrod, are a darker shade of brown. 5. And by the Frizzen being weak from I mean it doesn't have as muck kick to it as when I first bought it, since some of my friends were playing with dispite my warnings. 6. But the hammer and trigger mechenism are in full working order. Sorry it took me a while to answer, but I needed to do an inspection for what you were asking
  23. Thanks, I've designed dozens of Jolly Rogers, this one had to be unique because it's mine, even though it shares some features of Calico Jack's Jolly Roger, it's completly diferent.
  24. played pirates of the Caribbean online again today, only with unlimited access. woot! will eventually return to the burning sea once I have my own computer and an updated system.
