  1. Welcome Red Dawn - Now herein is a plot for a cheesy story... pirate named Daniel make good of promise made to his uncle who raised him to give up the sweet trade and go to law school, he then becomes a pirate prosecutor for the crown, he accidentally hangs a childhood friend/pirate and full of remorse returns to piracy. Jas. Hook
  2. As my collection of Pyrate Rum bottle ribbons grows, (as well as Hoti medallions) has anyone come up with a use for them? I was thinking markers for tent guy lines, anyone else? Jas. Hook
  3. Then welcome aboard, lass. Jas. Hook
  4. Tis startin' to sound as if the MEKKA II crew ran afoul of a cargo o' cheap Antigua rum. Come Capn'Rob, time to fess up to your equine exploits. Jas. Hook
  5. Neat, kinda like a giant potato cannon. Imagine firing a load of grape shot , errrrrr... confetti from that gun. Tony, what do you use to actuate/fire the gas supply? Jas. Hook
  6. There has to be more to this story... Jas. Hook
  7. Zing - Have you considered a Mediterranean persona in the GAoP... say a captured wife of a middle eastern merchant who's vessel was taken, now making her way in the western world. Clothing could be a mix of cultures. Jas. Hook "Well behaved women seldom make history"
  8. That was my original take on the name. Besides Malcolm, Mal could also be Malachy or Malachias. Malachias Barrett was the principle character in the 'Brethern of the Coast' series by James L. Nelson Jas. Hook
  9. Welcome aboard Cap'n Tony and Lady Redz . We can always use some more malasses in the crew. Jas. Hook
  10. Yes, I kinda' like the blade but as the sword was a beater that I purchased used and fixed up a bit so there's no great loss. It might bear some experimental tinkering with a new hilt without any great expenditure. I'd rather invest in a Baltimore if more than a few dollars are involved for hilt and handle material. Thanks all for the advice. Jas. Hook
  11. Any thoughts on converting an reproduction 1860 brass cup hilt cutlass into a more GOP correct piece? Jas. Hook
  12. Mr. Roberts - Here's a thought... It's a bit more dandified than a pirate's cut and thrust but a lot of colleges offer fencing courses in their sport programs and may offer an adult ed class. Jas. Hook
  13. Just a thought to toss on deck at the water butt. I once went to a card reader as part of a fundraiser. Although I'd never met this person before some of the reading revealed different long time interests and raised some food for thought. Personal beliefs aside, could we be drawn to reenacting previous lives or occupations????? A sort of why am I drawn to this rather than radio-controlled airplanes or scuba diving. Hummmmmm....... 14. Ahhh... you've located the marker of Old Tobias Grinn. Jas. Hook
  15. Arrrrgh... That be one happy lookn' Flounder thar' Jas. Hook.
  16. Nighthawk - Most satisfactory! I think Mr. Rhombo is honored by your rememberance through your skill and crsftsmanship. "We are never gone... untill we are forgotten." Jas. Hook
  17. Aye, sir!

Certainly a turkey baby now and forever.

  18. Or, for the technologically feeble, when taking your photo, simply stand between the wind farm and the fort. (This is a tried and proven method by the way, and has been employed for years by people wanting to photograph Stonehenge without the main road 30 yards away spoiling their pictures.) Foxe - Tis one thing to be in a sheep pasture, tis another to be in a lake. Jas. Hook
  19. Fort Niagara looks just great without any wind generators in the background. Jas. Hook
