  1. Latest posting from Ye Pyrate Brotherhood's web page - Sounds if it isn't quite ready to be sewn up in a hammock with two cannon balls... yet. Jas. Looks like it could be a scene in the book Stranger Tides. Jas. Hook
  9. Ahoy Cap'Rob -

Tis' a great thing to consider but tradition dictates we sail into more frigid waters to rip apart a turkey with family on Lake Ontario.

  10. Syren - Tell the lad ther be a plenty o' folks pullin' for Ol' Broadside and the kin. We be redoublin' our words to the Big Admiral for ye and send ye all the best wishes in your fight. Jas. Hook
  11. Purles, no thankee but be that a Habana ye be smokin'? Jas. Hook
  12. Don't forget - Ye can cast one vote per day, unless ye have access to another computer. Keep the 'Eye' votes rollin' in. Jas. Hook
  13. What say ye, ol' man? Be ye headin' for the Isle o' Bones come end o' November? A fine place to complete yer third score years!

  14. So I guess when you use bison, it's Frontier Pie? Frontier Pie... makes sense to me. ;) This might sound sacrilegious but... has anyone made a chicken pot pie with a potato topping??????? Jas. Hook
  15. IMO leave it in the dish. I think that a lot of the eye appeal of the pie is the toasted potato topping. Jas. Hook
  16. The tin of corned beef as well as the mashed potato-carrot topping sounds interesting. One of our favorites veggie sides is turnip, which we usually mix with mashed potato it might be another hearty topping combination to consider. Although less traditional, one pub we go to actually tops the pie with a thick fillo dough instead of mashed potato. Jas. Hook
  17. Silent - A two pieces of plastic or wood cut to buckle shape, gold spray paint and some velcro straps around the shoe or even through the lacing may set you up for the evening. Jas. Hook
  18. We usually just go to a local tavern that serves pub food and ask for a shepherd's pie. I would be interesting to see some recipes though. Damm... now ye got my stomach a rumblin'. Jas. Hook
  19. Lady L - Welcome aboard! First off I'd skewer the bugger for not being more helpful to ye. Ta' find a lass interested in the sweet trade is its own treasure. Second spend some time reading the topics posted in the Pub to get a flavor of what we're about. Think about a period persona for yourself... how would you like to fit in, a lady, wench, pirate queen, tavern keeper, dockside shopkeeper, tradeswoman, seaman's wife or a smugglers daughter. Consider attending a pirate event... talk with the folks there. In spite of their pirate demeanor they're really nice folks. Pickup some books on piracy and become a bit o' a history buff yer'self. Ask more questions. Jas. Hook
  20. Ahoy Beowullf - For BGS (big guy sizes) check out Lady Brower Treasures or Ghost Forge. M'lady Ashley manages to cover my... errrrr butt with slops and breeches. Ghost Forge actually specializes in larger sizes There is a place in Nova Scotia that is developing a period resort on the water. Their name excapes me at the moment but... who says Canadians can't have fun. Jas. Hook
  21. Thank you ladies for your comments. df I believe is double face. For now, I just stitched black 1.25 inch silk ribbon across the hat and tacked it at the top center of the crown and both sides where the crown and brim meet.. The ribbon ends I just folded back and stitched down to prevent unraveling. Silk thread was used but I think I need to use finer needles. Further experimentation will follow. Jas. Hook
  22. Aye, mutinous deer... it's the only way to deal with them. Jas. Hook
