1. I've made them before for pistols and daggers. I'll check my supply closet and see if I have any leather left from my last project. Could you possibly sketch out close to what you want it to look like for me?
2. Pirate vs Santa huh? I'll give the list some thought.
3. I have a cutlass with a "simulated" brass hilt. You probably know the one I men. It has a sailboat etched into the curved hilt like a tried sculpture. Don't know what the metal underneath the simulated brass is but I'd be interested to try the amonia trick on it just to see what it does. Would this work for aging a blade as well?
4. As soon as I decide on the next worthy opponent. Pirate vs Ninja has been done to death. Suggestions?
5. Thank you so much to everyone who helped out. Out of all 83 people who raised the minimum $1000 only one of us backed out once on the roof. It was a blast and if you need something unique for a fundraiser to help your cause I would contact Over the Edge. They were wonderful to work with and they made it so much fun.
6. As promised Pirate vs Chicken is on YouTube. Just search "Pirate vs Chicken". You'll know which one it is, trust me
7. My tent is made from the painters drop canvas and treated with two cans of Thomsan Water Seal and I've had no problems. Does add a little more weight but only had to add two extra roped to help keep it tight
8. I've always used painters drop canvas from Lowes. If I'm worried about heavy rains I use the 5 ml plastic between two pieces of the drop canvas. Never had any problems
9. Heard the same thing but I also have someone in my crew who did some minor welding to it and it's lasted for a while now
10. It's a very fine line. You can look at it from both sides and I feel it is safe to say that the phrase "a few bad apples" can come into play here. Personally, I have always looked at Pirates, Merchant Seamen, Navy Sailors and all other types that made their living onthe sea to have their own form of religion to a point. This is from all the superstitions and general practices that would occur on a ship that even if you were not a religious person you still followed because it was part of being a sailor.
11. Thank you. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little nervous. Been years since I went rappelling and I was a lot lighter back then!
12. My time is set for 1:50 pm (Eastern Time) and will be live streaming at the following address www.livestream.com/shorelineproductions
13. My thanks to all who have helped and continue to do so. My son is truly blessed to be part of this community.
14. Thank you all for your support so far. The last roller derby girl hasn't made it yet but she's close....
15. Thanks to the help of many of my Pirate brethern already I now have only $345 left to go to hit my goal. The event coordinators still do not think I will make it in 8 days and I would love to prove them worng. There are so many of you that have proven my belief that we are, if not somewhat dysfunctional, a family none the less. I still have faith that the rest of my Pirate brethern will help me to reach my goal before the cutoff on Oct 1. On behalf of my son and the other children involved with the Special Olympics of NC I thank you for your continued support. Please visit www.firstgiving.com/chrissuttle and give at least $1 and then pass the link along to all your friends.
16. I'm getting beat by the Carolina RollerGirls! All 4 of their skaters have made it over $1000. Surely I can count on all my fellow pirates to get Blackbeard to pull more support than a roller derby team! (nothing against roller derby fans). Please don't let this pirate fall back on his word and give a few dollars for the cause! www.firstgiving.com/chrissuttle
17. Thank you Dutch for pushing me over the halfway mark! Only $470 left to go and 9 days to do it in. Even if it's just a dollar or two please visit my site or pass it along to someone you know who would like ot help out
Help Support Special Olympics
18. To all my Pirate Brethern, $20 is all I need to hit the halfway mark for my Special Olympics fundraiser. I am looking for 20 pirates to give $1 each or 10 to give $2. Just a couple bucks to help make the Special Olympics for my son and the other children involved this year one to remember. Please, just help push me over the halfway mark since I only have 9 days left.
19. I've got $545 to go now in 10 days. Counting on my Pirate brethern to help me complete this extremly difficult goal. Like I said before, even if I get $1 from a third of the pub followers I'll be set. Help me support the Special Olympics and go to www.firstgiving.com/chrissuttle
20. $600 in 11 days. This is gonna be a challange but I'm confident the help will come. Please visit my site and even if it's just $1 that means I only need 599 more people to do the same. Go to www.firstgiving.com/chrissuttle and thanks in advance for all the help
21. I just need 600 pirates to give $1 each and I'll hit my goal for Special Olympics. Or 300 pirates to give $2 each and, well you get my point. I need $600 more by Oct 1. It really is for a great cause and I am truly grateful to my pirate brethren who have helped out so far. Now I just need a reason to thank the rest of you. Please go to www.firstgiving.com/chrissuttle to help out.
22. Still have a chance to win a cutlass and support special olympics at the same time. $1 donation gets your name in the drawing. Go to www.firstgiving.com/chrissuttle
