  1. Well, you've come to the right gal, lads and lasses! I sew for all sizes, but it seems a large majority of folks are of the "big and tall" catagory, including myself. :) I started sewing because it was difficult to find outfits that would fit me in a flattering way, without having to spend a lot of money getting custom work done. I primarily work in Renaissance Style costumes, but plan to move into other styles, and ideas when I am comfterable with working with it. :) From what I've observed, Pirate gear is basically regular clothing of the day. Most folks think "stripes and silks" as a staple of pirate gear, but I've seen basics of peasant, with added touches, and so on. Here is a list of soon to be avaliable! Ladies: Hats: Muffin, flat, muffin with brim. Bodices without piccadills and with piccadills. Laced up the back, up the front, up the front and up the sides, and up the sides. Skirts: Gored, petal Irish Dresses Chemises: Hip length, knee length, and ankle length. Men (Coming Soon!) Pant styles: Slops, basic, and eventually short pumpkins. Doublets shirts Has as listed above Thanks for all your interest, I'm waiting on a shipment of finishing supplies before taking photos. It should arrive today, then I'll be finishing up seams, and so on, to show. :) Any other questions, keep posting them! It's helping me be able to thing out things I've missed!
  2. You are right there. Hubby worked with C&C Machines, and barloaders for years, while they do pretty work, it's not as nice work as by hand.
  3. The patterns rock! :) I've got some leather waiting to be used, and these pattens are awesome! Thanks you all your awesome!
  4. Thanks Honey!!! :) I need the vote of confidence! Huggles!!!
  5. Happy Berfday to you! Happy Berfday you!!!! Hope you are having a GOOD ONE! Huggles! Izzy
  6. Just as a FYI, our opening date got pushed back to March 30th. I am going to start posting photos next week of items I've been working on to give folks an idea of what I make, and how they can come plunder it from me! Izzy
  7. That's awesome! :) I respect anyone that hand makes them. But then I have casting metal envy! Thanks for sharing with us! :)
  8. I could have sworn Fellowship Foundry did a Scull and Crossbones. Maybe email them and make a request? Fellowships Bottle Stoppers
  9. Also let me look up in my big history of the Philippines book. They talk about tribal branding etc in there in the 1620's. I know some of the Spanish adopted some of it. :)
  10. This is a joke regarding the T*DD tattoo, other wise ignore in the flow of the thread. A woman decides she's going to get her husband's initals tattooed on her butt, so she goes and has it done. She goes home, and sets up the house for a romantic evening, and he comes home. "I've got a suprise for you!" She churps. "OH? What is it?" He asks "You'll see." So the evening goes on, and they retire to bed, and she says, "I'll show you your suprise now, winking. So she pulls down her pants, all excited to show him his suprise, and he asks, "Who's Bob?" Totally stupid...but fit to Todd story. *shakes head* Why wouldn't I be suprised if she broke up with him three weeks later? That's my husband's only rule. No names tattooed on the body. It's one of those "Doomed to break up" weird things he has. Don't ask. :) On Topic: I would think maybe they would have done things like whales or albatrosses. I agree definately with the sea theme.
  11. Not sure if they have pirate chanties. Concertinamusic.com If you can transpose music from one key into another, you could play regular music from regular books remember your standard sharps and flats for what would be your Concert C scale. So like when I played French Horn our concert C Scale has one B flat in it. So it was F G A Bflat C D E F. That was how we were tuned for playing with a group. I'm not familiar with concertina, but if it's like tuned similar to a piano with basic all available keys and tones, then you should be able to pick up any music and play it, ignoring the cords for piano, etc, enless they are used. Cool section on time line of them. :) If you need music transposed I can give it a try. I downloaded a free software last year that actually would record the notes as you played or sang. If you are good at your ear, you could play and figure the right sound of the songs, and then play it to the computer, and print out the sheet music. :)
  12. I got it for 6.99 at Best Buy, that's the price of a real movie, and you get to watch this one over again. :) I liked this movie, ironically her munky and the Munky in POTC look to be the same munky. Probably not, but stupid observations.
  13. ROFL! Zorg, I needed that chuckle! Thankyee!
  14. I don't normally collect Precious Moments, but Hubby got this for me as a early VD present. "You Arrr a Treasure to Me." Jolly Roger, the Parrot They were a speical edition released for one day only on the 7th. If you can find them on Ebay look. They are really sweet, and will be pretty rare. Izzy
  15. I went to Walt Disney Elementry in Anaheim on Orange street. They gave us free "see the park" passes where they took us through the whole park for our 6th grade graduation. A present from W. Disney when the School opened the year before the park did. :) Neat fact. :)
  16. Spent summers at Disneyland with Mom and ate there once when I was tiny, knee high to a grasshopper even! I remember the bad Pirate Shop at Disneyland...but it had cool flintlock cap guns!
  17. No problem Hon! :) I took jewelry courses in high school, and did a lot of cab jewelry, and bezel set jewelry. I help set a lot of opals. If I had equiptment now I'd do it for you, but alas, I don't.
  18. I got a Autographed Iron Maiden Christmas Card with all the band members in the band currently for 16.00 for Christmas for my Husband. That was my BEST auction ever. Izzy
  19. Wartooth, Hm...it could be bessel set into a ring, easily. It's not too expensive, but also remember, if you use your hands a lot, you might knock the coin and ruin it's orginal details. You may opt to have it set in a besel setting where the metal makes a "frame" around the edge of the coin. That would protect it. Also it could be set into a Jade or cab setting, with prongs that would protect it. Necklace Coin Settings Coin Ring Settings This place is pricy, but theirs always cheaper, if you aren't into gold, etc. A good jeweler could set it, if your willing to pay the price, and they will have more lost wax dummies than most places with just settings. Then if you wanted something speical like a ocean theme, etc put onto the ring also, they can add it. :)
  20. Das Cheap Munky! I knew you'd have a link up your sleeve! Paisley, Oooo yeah!! You ain't kidding. The 1970's peter pan collars and revival stuff is ultra good! :)
  21. Dorian, It's in Bradford, PA. You can't miss the place. I'll ask hubby to write up directions, or remind me of where he was at when he went. :) Wartooth, Well, I'll sit down and pick my teeth with ya, free time is something I currently have. *looks at watch* Times up.! The Izzster
  22. Hi ya Drunk! It's going to be hard to find one for under 30.00. The cost of the fabric alone in some cases is 30.00. Maybe you could talk to someone that sews and do a trade for a shirt, or if you know someone ask them if they could make one for you. I know the shirts I've made in the past were 30.00 for the fabric, but then you have to count in the costs of the labor also. From start to finish it might take five hours from cut, sew, trim and finish, but sometimes segnifigantly less time. I'll keep my eye out for someone that does inexpensive ones and let you know. :) Try doing a search on dogpile or yahoo. Maybe something will come up. Izzy
  23. Wartooth, Hubby got to go to the Zippo Muesum/factory in PA, and said they had more than the catalogue you get in the mail ever offered. Consider emailing them to see. My husband also has a Sheffield Tamper that is all metal, with plastic guards on the sides. His first one the guards broke off from daily wear. Maybe you could find someone to scrim what you want, and get one of these tampers? It's made in England, long oval in shape, with pick, knife, and tamper foot on the bottom of it. Really great for 20.00. It's the best tamper he's found. He got his first on in Canada, but Tinder Box started carring them. It's an idea, since you can shape bone/ivory to what it is needed for. Or maybe a neat project for yourself. :) Izzy
  24. Here's some: Dead (insert pirate personality name here) and the Dry Barrels Painted Sand Booty or Bust (Hm..that could be taking many ways!) Glass Dunes Empty Bottle Sandy Pete and the Lizards (wait that should be a Vegas show) The Landlocked
  25. *grins* There was so much, I would have gone broke getting it all! ROFL I collect those Zoopini charms, and I got a scull and cross bones charm for my berfday! I was stoaked!
