  1. How cool is that? I'm happy for him. I can't wait to see what Captain Sparrow is like in the second installment! Ooo baby! I'm countin' days!
  2. This is way beyond anyone's cost but neat none the less. Leg Pipe Tool It's funny I've seen other Tampers of Legs, and women from this time. :)
  3. Wartooth- Do you just want the knife? Or the poker, knife and tamper tool combo?
  4. I've seen some locally Wartooth, for about 35.00. My husband is a Pipe Smoker also, and can't be without his tools! He's a Captain Spice smoker, or a Black Cavendish. He loves the aromatic smoke, so it doesn't chase me away. He's also got a lovely Cherry Almond that makes my mouth water. My husband is a Peterson B*tch, that's his pipe of choice. He's got three, but one that he smokes everyday, that I need to replace it's almost 10 years old! It's time! We've seen some scrimshaw tampers/knives/tools from Zippo believe that one or not. We've seen some from a local man, that if I have mind too I'll take my digital camera when we go to the tobacco store next time to take a photo. Friend of ours works there, so he'll be oblige me. I'll look around. Neat guy in Kentucky that does Pewter Tampers that are amazing. Have you seen them? If not I'll pull the link. :) Capwill, that always scares me the lack of price. It's like my old X's mom said, "If you have to ask you probably don't want to know." Izzy
  5. I got some Pins, and patches. But the COOLEST was the Pirate Socks. I'm a weird sock junkie. And these are black and grey/white, red and black stripes both with Patch Eyed Pirates, and a plain pair of stripes. I was laughing the whole time I was buying them. The pin I got says: I'll swashbuckle any land slubber me sees, ye scurvy dogs! ! They are clerancing a lot of stuff so a lot of the pirate stuff went the way of the waste side. Munky: I got the Ultament Pirate Shirt from PirateMod fer me birthday! Haven't gotten it yet, but I was excited when Hubby told me! :)

  7. Wow, in bone or wood? I've carved wood, and stone before, but it's hard on my hands.
  8. That is my pet peeve also. I see a lot of people that figure it's not important to either prewash, or make sure the fabric won't run, i.e. Linen, which needs to be edge treated if the seams aren't sergered. Part of my first costume was a skirt I made and skirt I bought, I wore the skirt to a party that I bought and it was raining...and I was blue for two days and five showers, so I was taught the valuable lesson of prewash long before I kept up sewing.
  9. I've not washed me clothes in a period fashion for the 1700's or the 1500's, but have used a mangle, which was entertaining at best for 15 minutes.
  10. I stumbled onto this site tonight, and since scrimshaw is a history with travelers I thought I would share. He does amazing and beautiful work. http://www.pyrate.com/ Ironic how his site is close to this URL, eh? While I don't agree with whale hunting or harpooning, commerically, there are some aborignial people that depend on it as a right of manhood. You'll notice that he speaks about harpooning, etc, on his site, that's why I mentioned this. Beautiful pendants, and so. :) I respect this type of artistic ability. Isabella
  11. If ya have one near you, it looks like someone decided Pirate was posh. *laughs* They have some truely unique items including pink scull and cross bone girl pirate sheets. Those were funny and on clerance. Cool Patches like "Kiss me I'm a Pirate" and come cool Scull and Cross bone socks. Pretty funny if you ask me. :) I found this online..that was worth sharing I'm crazy enough to own this one.
  12. There are currently pirates that kidnap Malaysians and Filipinos alike in the waters off the Philippines and Malaysia. I found sites by putting in to a search engine "modern Day Piracy".
  13. CapWilliams, The Pirate Cruise is in October. The site says: Pirates, Wenches and Bountiful Treasure Chests! Are you ready for some rip roaring, rum swigging, skirt chasing, politically incorrect, swashbuckling fun? You’ve come to the right place! We’re having a fleetwide party celebrating all of the things that make being an adult fun. From Sexy Sea Hunts and Sea Battles, to finally learning the truth about which captain has the biggest cannon. These cruises are not for the faint of heart. Sign up now if you dare! We promise you a week of legendary partying you don’t want to miss out on! Aaaaaaaaaaaargh!! October 11, 2004 & October 18, 2004 Ships it's on: Mandalay Polynesia Yankee Clipper I'd be totally game, but would have to miss PIP, or do this next year in stead. :) Cruises cost between 900 to 1300 dollars depending on cabin.
  14. Dark, That's less expensive than what we found by 9 dollars! :) We're only staying about four days. It's all we can do with vacation time. I'll definately look into that one! :) Izzy
  15. Happy Berfday to ye! Have a great one!
  16. Munks, We need to clump your mother and my mother in law in the same boat. She kept saying over and over again, "My baby is 30! 30!!!!" I expected her to break into "what a world what a world!" Now if we could get her stop asking us when we're having kids the world would be a good place!
  17. I live in Jimmy Buffet Hell in Cincinnati, where when he rolls into town people cover their cars with "We love Parrot Head!" "Love Live in the Mayor of Margaritaville!" I just shake my head and try not to rear end them. But strangly, he's started to grow on me...*laughs*
  18. My husband is a pipe smoker, smokes a Churchwarden at faires. But you can get Irish Clay Pipes period to the 1700's and earlier. They do get warm, but are wonderful for the period effect. http://www.claypipes.com/UK.htm My husband has about 12 pipes from a Sherlock style that is a hour and a half smoke, to a small mersham that is a 25 minute smoke. :) There's a good guy at Ohio Papa Luchini that sells good Merchams, where hubby got his, but Ebay harbors some great ones. Remember, you can get a different pipe stem, they sell stone, shell, and wood stems. Also consider a really neat Birish Pipe called a Hawk, I think. It's got a metal stem, and cup, that you screw mersham, briar, or other types of bowls into. You can have one pipe stem, and six different tobacco bowls in a neat pouch to carry. Some believe you rotate your pipe every day, and others smoke the same. Bowls are 15 to 30 dollars per bowl, and the stem is about 20 to 40. I've got a small woman's churchwarden, that has a small bowl. Good for a pocket, from Peterson Pipes. Try Pipes and Tobacco Magazine also. My husband loves. it. :) Izzy
  19. Did you make the hat your wearing on your profile?
  20. That's so cool. :) I can't wait to hear what you have in store! :) Looks like I might be spending winters in Florda. I still would love to have something close to home, even if it were six people getting together to watch pirate movies. :)
  21. Thanks Hon! I appreicate the input. We were looking and my jaw was dropping. It was like twice my rent of my apt for 4 days! Yikes! I did find one good find, but I think basic is better, and vacation style for later. :) I'll drop her an email with more questions. Thanks your a Peach! Izzy
  22. Just as a fun FYI, Windjammer Barefoot Cruises does a Pirate week. Wouldn't it be a blast to get 15 of us on a boat for a week?
  23. I've been looking at the cost of hotels in Key West, and some are really pricey. What did everyone do last year to help from keeping their plunder heavy?
  24. I clipped this from a NG I read alt.sailing.tall-ships, thought some would be interested. :) Izzy Tall Ship 'TENACIOUS' to visit the USA for the first time!! Hopefully the great American public will welcome the tall ship Tenacious as much as they did the Lord Nelson a few year's back. Crewed by both able-bodied and physically disable-bodied voyage crew (including some in wheel chairs) the vessel is a true ocean going sailing tall ship. Indeed she was even BUILT by disabled people under the guidance of professional shipwrights. So can we all really push the publicity for her first visit to the USA to ensure that she gets a great welcome from the folks there. Maximum publicity on the Internet and emails to local newspapers should help - pointing out just how unique she is. And yes, you can indeed sail on her. And this is no 'foo foo' ship believe me!! Here's the web site and here's the schedule: Voyage Programme http://www.jst.org.uk/ .
  25. One other thing, that would be wonderful. :) Make sure those that have disabilities are always welcomed and allowed. My best friend found out that one Civil War Group near her, does not allow participants to be in chairs of any sort, even if they are in an inactive area of the Battle (i.e. they have a town on the oppsite side of their Battlefield preserved from 1862). I edited this, because of some confussion on how I put my words. :) This is important. Participation should be for everyone, and open to everyone. :)
