We'll probably be able to use the clip on the PIP site.... I'll call The folks at the PR firm that did it.... They're cool folks.... Heck, they are the ones who got me down to PIP in the first place 4 years ago.... I was a reporter.... Hurricane was my interview subject..... next thing I knew I was in a bodice and married to the guy....

Thanks so much for those! Wonderful Pictures! I wish I had taken more, but I was so busy dashing around I missed many of the shots I would have loved to have. Thanks to everyone else for coming to the rescue with them!!!!

Hmm....Sorry you had a bad experience with someone.... I probably was snipped at by someone about being late with weapons, but chances are I just shot back some smart comment..... I agree that there needs to be better communication.... I believe harry has made a great step with a nightly captains meeting. if at the close of fest (or some other convenient time) we all have a 'here's what's happening tomorrow and where your people need to be' meeting, that will help with a lot of this. I too appreciated Harry, Spike, Nigel, Scarlett Jai, and everyone else who was always trying to lend a helping hand. Next year we just need more people in the know who can make sure everyone with them knows what's going on too! Diosa

ah Harry, we know better than to go after ya with the cat' o nine ,you'd like it too much :) I know a lot of stuff this year was likely because the fest grew too damn fast. last year, there were a few handfuls of us and everyone was able to communicate.... so... growing pains happen.... no prob... we managed to run over, grumble at braze if he picked on us for being late, then get approved :)

I'm right behind you waving that communication banner!!!! Just know it was not only you all out in the careening camp. Our crewe all had weapons and wanted to be in the battles and no one told us what was going on. Being a nosy reporter I saw everyone in the mess tent and started asking around to find out there was a safety meeting happening (On a funny note... I pretty much said the opposite of what you said, and thought it was crappy that only the careening camp people seemed to know what was going on and those of us who were camping in the fort were ignored) I believe part of this is growing pains. They've never had this many people fighting in PIP battles before, and I have a feeling there were just a few things lost in the communication field. This is one reason I am pushing for a 'crewe' schedule so we have a little idea what's going on.... the Bone Islanders seem to want that as well. As for water, cold drink, our 'tavern encampment' always had a barrel of cold drink (be it water, crystal light, etc) for anyone who needed it. I tried to tell people as I saw them that it was available, and any time they came by we would fill them up with an iced drink to keep hydrated. We will be doing that again next year...and I will make sure it's on the 'crewe notes'(that i hope will exist) so everyone knows where we are and what we offer. I don't want anyone to become dehydrated (that's the pyrate mom in me coming out ).

TOO COOL!!! Thanks for the Photos Stynky!!! I was hoping for a good pic of the reverend!!!!

Agreed Fayma, people seemed very careful for all the things that could have gone wrong.... our EMT saw only one person, who hit his head on a rock during battle. We had a fully stocked jump bag in our booth, and I am sure we will have that again this year....

Or better yet..... As it is currently Anne and Mary are dragged down Duval to the fort from the area of Capt Tony's. It's only another block to pirate soul, so I don't see why we can't be dragged from pirate soul to the fort. I don't mind wearing the shackles a little longer....I get used to them after a while...and I am sure Anne wouldn't mind either.... :) I even have some ideas where we could have started at the museum...have the red coats find us, shackle us, and drag us away...... By they way, we also already have a Anne & Mary presentation we are going to be doing at the fort after the trial and throughout the weekend this coming year. Consider that checked off the list :)

Very fun!!! Now I see what I was missing by not being shackled and taken off to the camp

Oh not to fret dear Lady, the scenario will very much rely on the "locals" that live and work in the Fort area. We hope to tie all together so everyone gets their "moment in the spotlight!" Several locals will be leading people from the Fort down to the beach during the appropriate times... and several "arguments" will be settle in the Fort amongst them that be shipwrecked and also between the shipwrecked and the locals... after all we VERY MUCH still want those battles to continue... The map is a much needed item... Fayma should print it up when Master Studley is finished with it along with a schedule for handouts to be given to the spectators. A large edition should also be posted at a center point for them in the fort and them in the camp, where any conflicts or necessary changes can be quickly posted as well for all to see.... If one is concerned that the folks may skip out on purchasing a ticket at the fort and just make their way down to the shipwreck camp, we could have the camp there as well, contained with someone there on the "gate" as well, with a stamped hand, showing whether or not a ticket has been purchased... as to caged skeletons, since they seem to be such a hit, I would suggest a total of four then... one in the fort entrance and three others strategically placed through out the grounds... maybe we could make a hide and seek type of game out of them for the kids....they had an excellent questionnaire that was given to the kids at Paynetown... they had to talk to many of us in order to answer the questions and then receive a small prize... Ah, wish I could volunteer my time to help out in some of that, but I barely found time to leave my area the whole fest(except when I was being shackled) ...Sadly, I was only able to make it out to the careening camp once..... I must say though, the more you guys bring into the fort to tie the two areas together, the better a look I get at what you are doing. :) I just mainly wanted to toss that comment out there about the ticketing to make sure that people go into the fort gate and hand over their money to the fest organizers. I know the kind of money they put out for this thing, and I just want to make sure they get as much as possible back on their investment. After all, while we're having fun, the whole goal of this thing is to make $$$ for the fort and keep it looking great and open for us to play in. Diosa

Fabulously done so far! Can't wait to see the rest!!!!

I think a different cut would have been better....say an A line skirt.... he could have shown off more leg...on second thought..... ground length was just fine....

Hi all, I wasn't completely sure which of the threads to put this in, but... I love the ideas coming for the 'shipwreck' camp next year.... however.....let's also work on a way that we make sure people come through the fort FIRST before going out there. The only way the fort gets their $$$ for this event is if people go through the gates on the fort grounds and pay for a ticket. We need to make sure they get their money so they keep inviting us back to the playground :) Maybe a herald (with bell and all) announcing the explosion or something and pointing people in the direction. It would of course also be on a schedule...and our ever-so-talented Master Studley is working on a map of the grounds that would explain to visitors how to get from point A to point B. By the way, we have a buddy skeleton that we would volunteer for gibbet duty..... Diosa

If we can't get more Royal Marines because of their schedule, can we get some of the costume pieces? maybe we could 'draft' a bunch of pirates to take on those roles to make the filed look more even.....
-
Thanks much for the kind words. Mad Dogge has said he would teach me to take a musket butt to the back for future shackling endeavors which will add to the fun. My favorite picture thus far was from last year.... I am hoping someone has a shot from this year of Iron Nigel tossing me down and putting a knee in my chest to get the shackles on me....

How kind of your to sacrifice yourself to be sure of the quality of the drink

Whomever lost a very nice bodice out on the beach, I hear it found it's way to the Bone Island Buccaneers..... although... the wenches on that crewe were eying it..... :)
-
Well said all! WE can 'act' like booze-soaked pirates, but let's leave the real thing out until after hours. This is especially important since all people don't know how to properly behave after a few drinks. we happened to be nearby as a few were being tossed out of the pub, and such. Sure, we pirates can take care of these things after hours, but we don't need the public seeing it....
-
Not true, there were plenty of people who were not historically correct.... not to mention I know where the electrical outlets are so you can charge your 'ship' as needed :)
-
Yes, we want it all...and we want it now :)

Here Here! Capt Sterling, you have a mighty fine crew, and while I only had a few seconds to chat with you (As I was swamped in both our booth and tavern) everyone I encountered in your crewe were a pleasure to chat with! I too am looking forward to next year, and a chance to expand on the great things I saw over the weekend. I do believe Harry has spoiled us, now I'll be going to other events throughout the year thinking 'this is nice... but no PIP...." Diosa

I will post pictures (and video links) soon, but let me just say I have done 5 years of PIP and this was by far the best! Major kudos to the Bone Island Buccaneers! While the festival has always been great and had the best of intentions in the past, there was only so much the handful of people could do alone and the Bone Island crew jumped in(and gave up a large portion of their lives in recent months) to take the festival to a completely new level! By the way...anyone from the Bone Island Gang, how many injuries does Nigel have after his tussle with my alter ego, Mary Read? I came home with new scars and bruises, but it was damn fun!!!! If anyone has good picks of me falling on my arse (with Nigel in tow) or the rest of him trying to drag me into the cell, I would LOVE them!!!! Harry, as always, a pleasure to be allowed the chance to visit your fort. I loved waking up to the sunrises over the fort walls, truly a sight to behold. Thanks for making all this happen and offering so much hospitality! William, Great job on coordinating this pub to get their butts moving and set up camp, it was a fabulous turnout, and a joy to meet so many people from here. I was only sorry we could not stick around to take the pub photo... we had a long drive (got in around 7 this morning.... ugh....) I hope you all enjoyed the souvenir wines that we did. We thought they were cute and hoped you would too. I will have more thoughts to come! Diosa De Cancion Pyrates of the Coast

Due to the sensitive ears of certain captains
Diosa De Cancion replied to Capt. Sterling's topic in Fort Taylor
Just from a legal standpoint.... any black powder fire after 10PM is subject to charges under Florida noise ordinances. Truman Annex is not far away and there are people living there who may not be appreciative of lots of booms in the night. Hate to kill the party, but I just figured you should know the law....
