I know what you're thinking. You're saying, "Gee... I wish I could get some real period-appropriate canvas and make myself some sailor's slops/trousers/a watch coat/a tent. But no one sells real hemp canvas. Whatever shall I do?" Never fear! Reconstructing History is here! We are now stocking real hemp canvas. It's 59" wide, 17.7 oz to the yard, 100% hemp canvas in a plain weave, perfect for your slops/trousers/tent/watch coat. Lookie here: And for the stitch-counters among you: it has a twinned warp just like the sail from the HMS Victory. And at a thread count of 10 warp pairs and 8 weft thread per square centimeter, it's almost exactly the weave of the Vi…

Greetings, Any of you know where I might find cotton velveteen/velvet in lots of colors? And I'm talking some off the wall kind of colors - been able to locate more "standard" colors such as red, blue, hunter green, purple and brown. Needing assistance finding light greens (jade, seafoam), burgandy, a light orange, and a warm amber/topaz color. I'm trying to avoid having to buy up yards of white velvet/velveteen and having to then figure out how to dye it and get it all to turn out even (we're talking dying about 10yards of each color). Any leads or information would be greatly appreciated. Have a grand one Emerald

I'm looking to acquire one.One that is functional, workable, durable.I've heard good things about the Dutch cutlass from MRL,which is coming back onto the market next Spring. Can anybody tell me if it's more that just a wall decoration? What about the other cutlasses from MRL/Atlanta Cutlery?I'm afraid of getting something that will shatter in use? I talked to a knifemaker in Elyria,Ohio, who would make me a copy of the Dutch cutlass, and wanted $3,000. What about the Cold Steel 1917 Cutlass? Is it useable and viable?I was thinking of customizing one.

This search has gone on for a year now, with little success, so I'm going to post here about it again in case anyone can help me out with locating this style of shirt. What I am looking for is a wrap around shirt. I know Center Stage Costumes used to have it in their online catalog (I've emailed them about it, in case they might have the capibility of selling one of them.) I found a good example of the shirt I'm looking for. The example I want to refer to is in the Autumn 2006 issue of the Pirates Magazine. There is a segment at approximately page 79 called "A Pirate's Journal". The shirt depicted in the photos in that segment is the exact type of shirt I'm looking for…

Fids for sale
by Fox- 4 replies

Hey gang, I have a couple of huge fids for sale. I'm guessing that most of you probably don't have anchor cables that need splicing but these would make a great addition to a pirate encampment. I'm looking for £30 (sterling) each plus p&p, but I'm willing to negotiate with anyone who wants more than one.

Issue 2 came off the press over a week ago and should start to appear in mailboxes and stores worldwide in the next couple of days. I have only handled a copy for a couple min. while vacationing in FL. I dropped into the Clearwater Pirate Festival and checked out an advance copy at the Magazines booth. Don Maitz was there signing autographs along with my brother who brought along samples of our new cutlass for next year. Nicely expanded

I have had several pair from different companies and they all are either uncomfortable after a few hours or they slip and slide on everything you walk on. I put insoles in them and they still hurt. The leather soles even after being scored still slip even if i'm walking on grip tape. so far the only shoes I have liked are the ones I made myself out of an old pair of square toed hush puppies. All the ones I find are always black and they always have the flaps for buckles. Does anyone make a pair of comfortable brown pair of rough side out period shoes fitted for being laced? I'm not a shoemaker so please don't say "Make a pair"

Ran across this in my latest Radio Control Journals. It's an RC electric Pyrate Ship. LOA 40.5 inches with a 10.5 inch beam. 6 Cannon and a handful of crewe. Good for ponds, pools or other small slow moving water. Ready to run for a mere $300 US. Got one on my holiday list.

Well, this is my very first post on Pyracy Pub and I hope it finds you all happy and healthy! I have created a very unique hidden watch that I think many Pirates would like to see. Please check out my site www.clipclocks.com. As I grow to understand the Pirate-eese, I hope I will be able to contribute more to this site. Thanks so much!

Who says we can't get into Borders and Barnes & Noble? I just signed the ppwk and Ingram Periodicals will be distributing our own Pyrates Way to thousands of bookstores nationwide starting with our Winter issue! How GREAT is that? All I did was send them a copy of the first issue and they LOVED it! Thanx to everyone for helping us achieve this kind of initial success!

Circle ‘round mates and let me tell you a scary story. Scary, but true. True as the deep blue. Let this be a lesson for ye so that ye do not suffer my fate. There is a company out there in this cyber world call Pirate Mod. Now they claim to be pirate friendly. But they are just pirates of the worst kind. I ordered a framed “Pirate Scroll” from this outfit back on May 31, 2006 as a Father’s Day gift for meself. They immediately billed me Master of Cards and I had no further response from them for two months. After repeated e-mails, they finally responded to tell me that the frames were backordered. I accepted the response as truthful. About two weeks later, in…
