While I couldn't say this is original to our period.... it definitely fits the type of Early Boarding Axes pictured and described in "Boarders Away" for the GAOP. http://tinyurl.com/35v4tr If it is a period piece, 700 Euros is about $1000 and probably not unrealistic for an original piece.

I have been looking for an old style onion bottle for some time. I have seen a few similiar bottles but none quite just right.....then I saw these unique 13.5 oz. Coke bottles that looked like Christmas tree balls...thought they were neat then thought "they look like onions"...Then I began to play around with some ideas. They might even make good replica hand bombs......a little black paint and a fuse...who knows....might look like one. here it is on my shelf. Have a Great Holiday....Hope you get all the plunder you desire. Joe

Anyone within 500 miles of Weatherford, Texas (about 20 miles west of Fort Worth) desperately needs to call Sarah Focht (call her Sarah) at 817-372-9241 and ask her about meeting her to see the "house full of pirate stuff." I was there yesterday and spent as much as I had in the "pirate account" on replica flintlocks, daggers, maritime items (I picked up a working bo'sun's whistle), and decorative pieces galore. What's still there is everything from an assegai to Wehrmacht prints from WWII. The man that owned the house had an extremely varied taste and interests and was a real character. I found the assegai in a secret room "behind ze bookcase" in the master bedroom a…

Okay, okay.... so at my core I'm really to *girlie* to wear a lads rig ALL the time,,,, To remedy this... I've had a bodice, skirt and top made that will do nothing but compliment my aforementioned Barbossa coat. For Pirate Faires and events I would not be wearing the stand-up collar of course... that is an option for Halloween fun! (Kind of a cross between a Disney wicked Step-mother and a Pirate) But it does have ribbon ties that go over the shoulder. The strong boning in all the seams makes it stay in place without the benefit of anything if I am so inclined however so on hot days... This picture shows an underskirt but I intend to wear it with the striped petal s…

Here's a chance to get some super high-quality pirate gear! I'm selling excess stock from our business as well as some of my personal toys in an attempt to come up with money for a down-payment on some land. :) I'll be listing some more items in the next week or so including another ships' carbine musket and TWO brass-barrelled blunderbusses! I also have boarding grenadoes and a cannon-lighter pistol to list as well. There's not much in the way of clothing right now, (maybe a weskit) but there are oodles of other goodies. Be sure to check back every 3 days of so for the next two weeks to see what else I've listed! GunBroker.com - Flintlock pistols/Long guns <br>eBa…

I don't recall seeing this linked here, and if it has been, my apologies for repeat. They're calling these latchet-style shoes a closeout -- I haven't made up my own mind on it just yet. From the picture, they're clearly not straight-lasted... I've had good dealing with Museum Replicas before, but has anyone tried these particular shoes? MRL latchet shoes.

Doing my annual clearing out of the fabric bins and look at the beauties that I found in there! Maybe if they sell, I can get some more fabric http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZcholeblack While these aren't really "right" for the historics, they would certainly make smashing Hollywood inspired outfits. 2 yards is enough for a mans waist coat or a womans petticoat in most sizes.

I've been contemplating a fur felt hat blank to make my own hat from. I like the dove gray. But was also contemplating the black as I want to make a new, updated Barbossa hat. Anyone have a fur felt hat? Would you be able to state the pros and cons of it. And also the pros and cons of the wool felt (I have two, but finding they are in need of some reworking). Also, with the one wool felt blank I have, I'm wanting to reshape it so to speak. More pull it to have a wider brim. Is it possible to totally reshape it? And how can I do that if I have practically no equipment to steam and reblock? Friend of mine suggested to go to the dry cleaners and have them redo it. Go…

Below are two simple cheapie projects I made. The beer cap is for size reference. One is a tobacco pouch sewn up quickly from a scrap of canvas. The toggle button is also (obviously) made from the same piece. The tie is a piece of hemp beading cord. To get that stained and weathered look I actually put some old (the company I bought it from years ago is no longer in business) dried out and forgotten about pipe tobacco in it then good and wet then gave it a couple of squeezes. Two days of drying in the sun later and what you see is what you get. The other picture is of a blackjack (or lifesaver if you will) that was cobbed together from some old chafing gears leath…

So...At the funeral home I am a partner in, it was decided that we need to have offices worthy of our positions. One of my partners has the Aviation thing going on..But I wanted that Nautical feel...So...I tore down all the wood paneling, ripped up the brown carpet, scrapped the Popcorn off the ceiling and even found a secret room (which was a closet) behind some book shelves. The old tile had asbestos so I didn't tear it up and just laid wood planks down...here is what it looked like! So then I put in a chair rail and painted and painted and painted and then I painted my nautical compass on the ceiling and then busted into my secret room behind my book case …
