Scalliwags galore!! The Kuhn Theater (a completely rennovated 1930's single screen theater) will host a Hollywood style Premier for Pirates of the Caribbean Two on July 8th. All pirates wishing to "edutain" the citizenry before the 2pm, 5pm, 8pm, and/or the 11pm showing(s) will be rewarded by gaining free admission for themselves and their immediate families to any showing of the film on Saturday, or on Sunday. The real reward is participating in an event to support the family owned single screen theater concept. A pirate's heart is a lovely thing.......especially when it stays in his/her chest during a raid.....arrrrr. The theater will be decorated for the event wi…

I wish to report a Pirate Raid. Er, it was technically a Pirate Raid. Okay, maybe not so much... Anyway, last Friday (29 July) my family rented a couple of canoes and rowed down the Fox River. In one canoe were my wife and 16-year-old daughter. In the other was myself, my 11-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son (William the Bloody). My wife kept asking why I was carrying the 10-foot-long bamboo pole, and I kept giving her misleading answers. A few minutes after we were in the water, my son donned his pirate hat, I donned my (fluffy-sleeved) pirate shirt and bandana, and the (4' x 5') Jolly Roger was suddenly flying from from the pole. ...and this was how we went…

Would there be more than a few pyratical folk in the area of Richmond, Va interested in raiding one of our local theaters for the opening of POTC 2? If ye be mildly curious give us a shout. A proper raid on rivah city ain't been done for quit some time. Might be nice to know if there be any others in this port town that long for wider waters and a bit more adventure. Who knows - could find we have a start of our very own crew. but I wander from the topic at hand - the plan - raid a local movie theater for the opening of POTC2 show up as much in costume as ye can celebrate the event at one of the local pubs once the show is over specifics can be filled…

So I was out walking my dog when I happened to stumble upon a Ren Faire going on this weekend (7/23-7/24). They were all setting up when I was walking by. I had no idea this was going on. There has been no mention of it anywhere! It's located at Heartwell Park off the corners of Carson and Clark. Can't miss it! I was unable to attain any further info, but if you happen to be doing nothing this weekend and you live in Long Beach - stop on by!

What was originally billed as a "meeting" in the wilds of Pennsylvania was actually more of a non-competitive firelock shoot, with a prize handed out to the best shot. I slapped together a couple pages of pics. Hopefully the file sizes aren't too tough to handle.

Here's something you don't see every day: A pirate ship made from milk cartons! The big summer festival in Minneapolis is called the Aquatennial, and for the last 30 odd years, one of the big events is a race featuring boats made from milk cartons. (I think it was originally sponsored by Land O' Lakes, the giant dairy company.) The boats can have wood, foam and other stuff, but the primary flotation must come from milk cartons - sealed shut with duct tape, glue or whatever. Most of the boats make it just a few feet into the water before falling apart, but some people put lots of hours and money into building something that will really float. The captains of this ves…

The Pyrates of the Coast will be raiding St. Augustine Saturday, July 23. We have a large force of raiders (18 at last count). We'll be at the fort for the 3:30 firing of the fort cannon (one of our pirates is working undercover on cannon duty - argh!) and then we're off to town. At 8, we'll be at Taberna de Gallo... we'll be looking for all of our nautical and piratical friends there. -- Hurricane Captain of The Pyrates

It's after midnight here, had a late dinner and decided to go to the hotel's business center and check my email. Wow, I've only been gone since Wednesday and I feel I've missed a lot here. So far it's been a lot of fun, keeping busy by walking up and down the isles of the booths and all. Tomorrow is the big day, Saturdays are always crazy! Ugh, it's going to be a long day. Well, talk with you all some time on Sunday....that is if I don't run to Disneyland and use my annual passport to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Pirates ride. Yup, 50 years ago on July 17th Pirates opened it's doors. Woo-hoo! Anyway, see ya all laterz! Miss ya Phil!

I just got a phone calf from me mate and Baratarian brother, Capt. Rick, who has been working to organize a Piarate Fest for July 15 -16 here in New Orlean. Specifics are still up in the air, but there's talk of a reenactment of the jailing of the Baratarians; an appearance by the Bilge Pumps; a pirate Ball; and much, much more! I'll keep ye posted as I learn more! Also, Rick started a site: piratesofneworleans.com I'm sure that he will be posting info there Capt. William
