I've been without an official position or job for going on two months now - been fairly happy with the freelancing stuff and working on my own projects. In a single day, I've been offered two longer-term, temporary positions, while not actively looking for anything of the type. One is to go back and clean up the mess my replacement made from my last position as a theatrical booking/tech manager - and likely taking the booking position again on an interim basis (not that happy with the place, but we did part on good terms), and the other is as a stage-manager for a small, relatively new theatre company. I'll likely be taking on both gigs, and can use the extra sudden in…

This morning we had a bit of a surprise here in Escondido. We don't get thunder and lightning very often, so keep that in mind. I woke up just before 5 this morning, so I decided to go and sit out on my patio. As I opened the door there were a brillant flash of lightening about a half a mile away in front of me. So I sat down in a chair to enjoy the show, then I saw the clouds coming down very low, I mean LOW around the apartment complex and then this whopping flash of lightening just a tad over-head and right in front of my face! It was so close I could feel the electricity from the forks. Well I quickly decided to exit stage left and as I was entering the living room…

A co-worker came in and brought me a surprise... A bag of "Pirate Booty" Robert Gourmet puffed carmel corn. It has a pic of pirate on the bag and the contents are pretty good. Here is a link to the "Pirate Booty" with white aged cheddar cheese http://www.taquitos.net/snacks.php?snack_code=346

It was rather eye-opening, as I am sitting here on the computer. Approximately 8:47 AM. Not big, but enough to make you go oooh.... Felt a small aftershock. Will have to watch the news later to see where it was and how big...

hi gang i got this at snopes.com (a site i can get lost for hours in) In Context The origins of April Fools Day are not clear but it is known that the tradition of practical joking and mischief-making dates back to Ancient Roman times. It would appear that the festival is closely related to the coming of Spring. Ancient Romans and Celts celebrated a festival of practical joking at about the time of the Vernal Equinox, as do millions of India's Hindus. The French also mark 1 April but instead of April Fools they call it Poisson d'Avril (April Fish). enjoy

seems like a new film is being released this month as a real-time account of the goings on an 9/11. i got this link to the trailers in my email today: IFILM - Clip of the Day United 93 (2:00 mins.) The trailer for this real time account of the events on United Flight 93 has been criticized by some moviegoers who think that's it's too soon for a film about 9/11. Watch and decide. http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2687799

I mean when you get a message like that from a seemingly nice guy that you used to date. What does it really mean? Is it to be taken as a threat of some type? If you received a message like that, what on earth would be the right response? I need insight!

...and Vivid Hearty Vardy Regarding the Value of a Venerable Visage of Validation And verily so indeed. I quote: Who was he? He was my father He was my mother He was my brother He was you He was me He was all of us. Oh my fucking God, what a movie. With the exception of Revenge of the Sith, it has been years since I'd walked out of a theater nearly breathless. I need to see it again ASAP. I am, of course, referring to V for Vendetta. Natalie Portman delivered the best performance of her entire career. Hugo Weaving gave one of his greatest performances, even though you never see his face the entire film. At first it's troubling to find you have to accept the…

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions. "How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!" You're never thirty- six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key. You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead. "How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . . . you become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!! But then you turn 30. Oooohh, wha…

Next time you have a bad day at work...think of this guy. Rob is a commercial saturation diver for Global Divers. He performs underwater repairs on offshore drilling rigs. Below is an E-mail he sent to his sister. She then sent it to radio station 103.2 on FM dial in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, who was sponsoring a worst job experience contest. Needless to say, she won. Hi Sue, Just another note from your bottom-dwelling brother. Last week I had a bad day at the office. I know you've been feeling down lately at work, so I thought I would share my dilemma with you to make you realize it's not so bad after all. Before I can tell you what happened to me, I first…

Here it is; I've had this old CVA Bluderbuss for many years. It's the brass barreled twelve guage. For those familiar with these you know that they are notoriously out of period in the lock and stock, and furnture. Mine is complete and in working order.( a miracle for most of those old Spanish locks!) I cannot decide whether to modify the existing stock and add a more authentic lock and guard, etc., or to build a new piece from scratch around the barrel. Suggestions? ( and don't say "you should give it to ME!" ) Thanx...Capt. Bo

Who would you trust more? I bought and sold alot of cars privately, but always wondered about those "carmax" type companies. Especially since the hurricanes from the mid-south and the gulf, I've seen reports of companies trying to refab those vehicles that have been waterlogged in the various floods. Some have even been reported as turning up in the Mid-atlantic states. Yes, buyer beware, but should we have to run a carfax for each vehicle we are looking a? So I put the question to you, would you fell more comfortable buying a used car from a used lot or from a private seller?

Gibson to Speak Ancient Tongue at Oscars Saturday, March 4, 2006 3:14 PM EST The Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) — Mel Gibson will give audiences a preview of the ancient language spoken in his upcoming movie, "Apocalypto." During a brief appearance on the Academy Awards on Sunday, Gibson will speak Maya, the only language in the film. His last movie, "The Passion of the Christ," was performed in Latin and Aramaic. "I wanted to shake up the stale action-adventure genre," Gibson told Time for a story on the magazine's Web site. "So I think we almost had to come up with something utterly different like this." "Apocalypto" is set in pre-Columbian Mexico and is being sho…
