Since the Raids forum does not allow us to post events, thought I would stick this one here. Tomorrow is Carnevale in Venice Beach California. Here is the website for information: Carnevale - Venice Beach Patrick, One of the troupes performing is Mutaytor (Grand Finale)...thought maybe you would be familiar with them, since they perform and steampunk type of events and at Burning Man. My beau and I are going to attend in traditional Carnevale type of costuming...with a pyrate flair to it.

A blonde lady motorist was about two hours north of San Diego on the 5 when she was flagged down by a man whose truck had broken down. The man walked up to the car and asked, "Are you going to San Diego?" "Sure," answered the blonde, "do you need a lift?" "Not for me. I'll be spending the next three or more hours fixing my truck. My problem is I have two chimpanzees in the back that have to be taken to the San Diego Zoo. They're a bit stressed already so I don't want to keep them on the road all day. Could you possibly take them to the zoo for me? I'll give you $100 for your trouble." "I'd be happy to," said the blonde. So the two chimpanzees were ushered into the bac…

MSN Story of Witch Bottle Copy of story is below 17th century urine-filled 'witch bottle' found Discovery provides a unique insight into witchcraft beliefs of that period By Jennifer Viegas During the 17th century in England, someone urinated in a jar, added nail clippings, hair and pins, and buried it upside-down in Greenwich, where it was recently unearthed and identified by scientists as being the world's most complete known "witch bottle." This spell device, often meant to attract and trap negative energy, was particularly common from the 16th to the 17th centuries, so the discovery provides a unique insight into witchcraft beliefs of that period, according to …

this fella (maybe, i dunno) landed on the ledge outside of the office tonight. as its my turn to babysit the cameras, I was rather alarmed when the screen blotted out for a second and then cleared. I kicked the camera around and saw this sitting on the ledge next to it. He saw the camera move and hopped over to take a look. I was eyeball to eyeball with him for about a minute. I had him blown up to cover the whole 42 inch monitor. He spun around and looked over the yard, so I turned the camera to see what he was looking at. Never did see it, but the next building over said he caught a squirrel when he dove off the roof. we were both watching from different views. not pira…

Ok, so I was reading about this psychology experiment they did and I thought it would be interesting to see what pirate re-enactors thought. How it works: Two people are randomly assigned to each other. You do not meet and your identity is never revealed. At stake is $100.00. One person picks how the money will be divided between the two of you and the other chooses whether to accept the deal or not. There are 2 rules: 1. You are only given one opportunity to play. 2. If the second person declines the deal, you both walk away with nothing. Since we don't actually have the situation described, I have created a poll which asks for the lowest division you would ac…

Welcome to The Whine Cellar. Here you can indulge in self-pity to your heart's desire. Just a few rules: 1.Whining only - no insults, name-calling or nit-picking. 2. Not sure if you are truly whining? If your complaint begins with "oh, poor me" - you are whining. Remember, you are the victim here. 3. Please keep your whines to a reasonable length - we all have a lot of whining to do. If you feel a long tirade coming on, you will need to take it outside. 4. If you are having a wonderful day, stay out. OK, time to taste some fine whines, people. Get out your glasses...

I debated putting this topic in Captain Twill. It's not really about what women did about pain from wearing bodices centuries ago, tho, I'm sure it will come up. This is about what any of the women here on the board do to help prevent back pain from wearing a bodice or corset? I got a lecture from my chiropractor about wearing a bodice. How the spine was not meant to be constricted like that. I got him to at least admit that my low back pain was not from the bodice alone. I need a better mattress for one and also turning wrong in my sleep caused further pain. I've been doing better since seeing him on Friday. I still tho wake up slightly sore, but at least there'…

We lost a true life Disney legend yesterday.... Wayne Allwine, the voice of Mickey Mouse for over 30 years died Monday afternoon. He was only 62 years old. He was the sweetest, nicest, most gentle guy and you could ever know and WHAT a sense of humor! And the best part of the story... Wayne was married over 20 years to Russi Taylor, the voice of Minnie Mouse. Some people that you know… just cannot be replaced.

Yaaar all! I have not come by the pub in a little while and I have to make this short but sweet. As you may or may not know, Pirates Magazine is making a “dirty dozen”, giving honors to those most piratey. I have not idea if anything other then “These guys are awesomesauce” honors but I urge you all to send an email to davenichols@piratesmagazine.com and vote for your favorite captain. “Who would that be?” you may ask. Stynky Tutor, of course, the man who puts a ton of effort into this very pub every day. When all was said and done there was only one Pirate who came to mind. Not to put any Crew Captains down, but I’d like to see this title go to someone who h…

I was so saddened to hear this news: As some of you may or may not know, Mickey Mouse's voice actor for the past 32 years has died. Wayne Allwine had worked at The Walt Disney Co since 1966, starting in the mail room before he became the voice of the famous cartoon mouse in 1977. The Walt Disney Co said Allwine died of complications from diabetes. His wife, Russi Taylor, the voice actress of Minnie Mouse, was by his side. His voice can still be heard at Disney theme parks around the world. Allwine also voiced Mickey in Mickey's Christmas Carol and Who Framed Roger Rabbit. He won an Emmy Award in 1986 for sound editing on the NBC series Amazing Stories. He was the …

Today, May 16, is Armed Forces Day. I'm stuck working, but I'm still marking the day in my own way by putting up a relevant book display (employed in a library, right?), wearing me "Military Brat" pin and Army pin...and I shall be dining at Mariachi Locos after work. (Okay, it has nothing to do with the military, but it just sounded good) But its nothing like the Armed Forces Days we had when I was growing up in the Army. They were almost as much fun as Christmas...all sorts of weaponry on display, firing demos, rides in M113s (this was in the 1960's), big picnics with lots of food...I miss those days...

A good friend of mine (who is very active with VFW,VA and all of the local Veterans groups) asked me if I would help him this weekend..... OK... putting up flags on the graves of the fallen.... that is an honor.... but he also wants me to help with a kinda "demo".... I had to look-up the manual of Arms(It's been about 30 years since I did that.....I can remember almost alla it tho...(U.S.Army Infantry 1976 - 1980) , and I kinda-sorta have a WWII uniform (well other than the shirt (1)) But my question is.... I've kinda grown attached to my beard..... Now Ompah/Robert says that the old vets will be happy enough seeing someone making an attempt.... But if I'm going to do …

However, never trust a pirate..er...no wait that's never trust wikipedia. -Greydog AP Article on Hoax Student hoaxes world's media on Wikipedia Phony quote appears in obituaries for French composer Maurice Jarre By Shawn Pogatchnik updated 7:50 a.m. PT, Tues., May 12, 2009 DUBLIN - When Dublin university student Shane Fitzgerald posted a poetic but phony quote on Wikipedia, he said he was testing how our globalized, increasingly Internet-dependent media was upholding accuracy and accountability in an age of instant news. His report card: Wikipedia passed. Journalism flunked. The …

I got this link today, and it's worth checking out. Mostly horrible 70's hairstyles mixed in with terrible artistic choices in album cover design. I'm sure the music is great though.

Going to the movies dressed as yourselves- pirates that ye are? Just what will you be doing? And if nothing perhaps it's time we start celebrating in May as well as September.

I don't open messages from individuals I don't know so it is sitting there because I am not going to take a chance on downloading anything harmful to my comp. So my question is does anyone know anything about some new forum rules? If so why not put it up on the main board instead of a personal IM? Let me know cause if I dont recognize the name sending I delete it without opening it. Thanks

BBC Saturday, 29 November 2008http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/mpapps/pagetools...ent/7754622.stm 'Mummy, can I phone the pirates?' One of the biggest frustrations facing journalists is being unable to get through to people on the phone. But as Mary Harper discovered, contacting the Somali pirates on the Sirius Star turned out to be child's play. It was a cold, dark, wet and miserable Sunday afternoon. I was in my car, driving my 12-year-old daughter and her friend back from a birthday party. I was tired and fed up from being in the car. "Mummy, mummy," trilled a voice from the back. "I want to phone the pirates." My daughter had heard me repeatedly trying to get throu…
