I propose that on Sunday, 01 May, all available pirates spend the day at Mystic Seaport. If any of you have never been there, you're missing out. Hopefully by then, I'll be sporting the new sword I'm currently making at Mystic Seaport's shipsmith shop. This would be followed by moving to downtown Mystic to a great Irish pub, the Harp and the Hound. Every Sunday night they have sea shanties, and participation is strongly encouraged. I know the bartender fairly well (I'm turning in to a local there!) and could probably reserve a good table if there'd be enough of us. I'm going to look in to discounts for the costumed persons at Mystic, but would like an approximate nu…

This event is set round the legend of Dr. Syn who was a vicar in Dymchurch but was also the infamous pirate Captain Clegg. There is normally a Smuggler's Landing on Dymchurch Beach, events throughout the High Street in Dymchurch, a parade and, finally, events held on a green by the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway.

This thread will be to cover the items being sold in and discussions about the "Dead Man's Chest" auction to be held to raise money to help keep the Santa Maria replica on the Scioto River in downtown Columbus Ohio afloat. First a few details. After a fair bit of discussion within the Scioto Pirates, and plenty of idea brain storming, we decided to best way for us to do the auction was via eBay. Doing the auction through eBay will allow both participants AND those who are not able to make it able to bid on items at their own discretion. As eBay allows auction length only up to two weeks, the "Official" auctions will be set up two weeks before the event and from there bi…

It's that time again for the spring Escondido Ren-faire with a Pirate Flair. Course they know there's different time periods, but nobody cares just so long as the paying public is happy. I'm suppose to sell my wares, but I've had a bit of an accident: Last night Gilligan bit me hard just under my lower lip and now my lower lip and half my lower jaw are swollen badly. I'm sitting here having to drink my coffee with a straw! My lower lip is so swollen that liquid just flows right back out trying to drink out of a cup. Although this is funny in a bad way, I look like Botox gone bad (seriously!) I'm not for putting myself out to the public the way I currently am. Rumba

Avast there ye scurvy dogs! If any of ye swabs be on this side of the ocean, be ye advised that P.U.B.C.A.T. be doing their first ever pirate event. So if ye be in the area come and watch us make fools of ourselves. we have done many re-enactment events in the past but never as pirates. We are planning to have at least 20 people, several black powder users, and at least one cannon. The event will be in Leith docks, near Edinburgh, on the 23rd-26th of May.

The Santa Barbara Heart of the Forest Faire is back! The Faire is run by the son of the founder of RPF/N&S (Phyllis) Kevin Patterson. The dates are May 8-24. Here the info: http://www.forestfaire.com/index.html This site of this faire is more like the old Agoura site. A lot more trees nearer the ocean etc. The last few times it was held it was a far better faire than Glen Helen! So if you want t break from the heat of SRPF give this one a try! Maria

The info hasn't been posted yet, but this year the event will again be held at the DEMAS salle Saturday and Sunday May 12 and 13. There is a chance it may be moved to the second salle location in Morgan Hill, but that will be posted as well. Afer much work by Claire and myself trying to find a "piratey" venue Davenrich (Digger) has happily stepped back in to help us out. We either got no replies to our enquiries, got turned down, or got hit up for ridiculous fees which would raise the cost of the workshop for the students, which we are definitely not about. There will be a special rate for 10 or more enrolling all at the same time, and the cut-off point will be 30 peopl…

International Scurvy Awareness Day May 2nd, 2009 Many a sailor or pirate had to struggle with the symptoms of scurvy. Sad to say, scurvy still exists. The humble goal of LimeStrong is to wipe out what may possibly be the most easily preventable disease in human history, Scurvy. They hope to achieve this by bringing awareness to the fact that Scurvy still exists in the modern world, even though we have had a documented and cost effective cure for almost 400 years. Plus, itβs a great excuse to have some grog (rum punch with lime juice), or margaritas, with yer shipmates in the name of a good cause. Visit the website for some great ideas to promote the awareness of thi…
