  1. Great goodies that ye have there. Oh an' the lass ain't bad either. I wish ye all the luck. Rumba Rue **Ship's biscuits, great for hitting enemy over head with**

  3. Hey, good job! Hope ye gets lots o' wear out of it! Rumba Rue **Life is what you make it, so make it happy!**
  4. I went last year. It's ok, but shade is very lacking. A hot day it t'was. That faire is extremely strict on the participants who work that faire - strictly Renaissance and nothing else. They won't even allow a pirate group to participate unless one is willing to conform to their rules i.e. must be Renaissance costumes, must be Renaissance look to encampment, and the list goes on. I know, because I checked into it for PRP and was given a flat no. There were some merchants that I hadn't seen elsewhere, but the prices were above the sky limit! Will I go again? Probably not, costs too much for everything. Rumba Rue **What part of arrrgggghhhh didn't you get?**
  5. Well I'd like to see your coat! Rumba Rue ** **
  6. Thank you Hawkins. Yes I've made costumes in the past for people, usually just bodices and skirts. Nowadays I just tell people to go buy stuff ready made, cuz the time and work involved costs more than ready made. Akasha, The coat is my first excursion into doing really, really difficult sewing. In fact I had a hell of time understanding the pattern. The use of interfacings drove me nuts! In fact the cuffs came out too poofy cuz I didn't understand the way the pattern called fo use of interfacings. Also, I didn't realize how tight the arms were going to be either. I don't do patterns well. I've got material cut out for another frockcoat which will not be as fancy and more to what is expected. And trust me I have learned from my mistakes on the first one, which gives me more mistakes to make on the next. Rumba Rue ** **
  7. I appreciate all the great comments. I have to admit I was a bit shy about showing this off, as I know some here are 'strict-to-the-code' of historical accuracy and thought I would be... well not well recieved. I've been asked if I would ever consider selling the coat- no, not at this time anyway. I'll consider it after I've entered it in the San Diego Fair next year. Rumba Rue **Smile and Let Your Spirit Soar**
  8. Well Pearl, if'n ye gots ta bring the young criminals-in-trainin' I suggest Ojai. More camping area available, an' more things for them ta do an' see. Rumba Rue **Smile and make people wonder what you're up to**
  9. Well it took me MONTHS and MONTHS to finsh this coat. Please note, I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL COSTUMER!! Also, don't expect "Period coat". This was made more for the costume contests that I tend to enter in here and there. As soon as possible, I'll put the whole outfit on, and have some pictures ready to show, just as soon as I can pin down me companion to take them. Frockcoat and Waistcoat Rumba Rue **My pride is in my work**
  10. Actually I did know that information. I was jest sayin' we wimmen didn't do that sort o' thing unless one is tryin' ta pass as man. Ye know, that Anne Bonney, Mary Read thing. Course nowadays there are some that like that kind o' look, I'm jest not one o' them. Rumba Rue **Always burn last**

  13. Ah, I t'was birthed in St. Louis, MO., then wound up livin' a chunk o' me life on Long Beach, Calif. Then traveled around various areas o' Orange County(Stanton, Anahiem, Westminster, Anahiem(again), Fullerton, Anahiem(again), Fullerton(again). Then I t'was moved up ta Tujunga (San Fernando Valley-Los Angeles), then ta Sunland, and finally made me way down ta the San Diego area o' Escondido where I've been fer the last 7 years. One could say I've traveled the seas o' dry land. Rumba Rue ** **

  18. A wise word here from me: If you don't want secrets or things known, don't tell others.. I agree with Christine, me thinks it t'was someone else. Unless of course you told someone things that even I didn't know until you said them in your posting here. Rumba Rue **Friends help friends move, real friends help move the bodies**
  19. Well, I can tell ye it wasn't me! I t'weren't at any pirate events since the June 5th PRP event. I've done kept my mouth closed! So it had ta have been the event o'er this past weekend at the Heritage Regatta, which I was not at. Hmmmmm..... Rumba Rue **My lips are sealed with duct tape**

  21. I would say that the Oil companies are doing their best to achieve that goal of piracy. I have strongly suspected for a long time that game is the same one that got Enron caught. Rumba Rue **Yup the cost of olive oil is going up all the time**
  22. I can only hope the doll is annatomically correct. It would certianly sell more! Rumba Rue **My wicked mind will never cease to amaze me**

  24. ...but what if ye WERE just keelhauled in a ligthnin' storm... ...and there be no blow dryer aroun'... Well, judging by your picture Phil, I doubt that's a problem for you. An' if'n ye still can't keep it together, use yer best pirate sash/bandana, or else ye could tar the stuff tagether. Rumba Rue **No problem that can't be solved by the proper application of silliness**
