  1. Bells. ( I don't wear fox tails. I dont think something should be killed just because its pretty, except for Brittney Spears. )
  2. I speak Typo-ese. Comes in handy once in a while. :)
  3. the ropes are for the awning I can make if I set up one side of the tent.. Like a big lean to for others to be shaded. I had a modern tent at Council Bluffs and the dang thing was about 2' off the ground during a wind storm. I slept in my car that night. The owner of the 13oz tied his tent down and it stayed put. I've also seen them put cement blocks on the ropes to hold it down. I talked to Pat for an hour today, asked her everything under the sun.. nice person! and panther primitives is about the same price for the 13 oz etc.. but Strinz is more local in case something is wrong. I didnt check Tentsmiths or RKLODGES for the 13oz, just the 10 oz and Crazy Crow is about the same price also. have to go and see someone.. back on later!
  4. just watch out for the little blighters that carry guns or stunners.. makes a person a bit dizzzy ta see a Glock in your face whilst trying to drum up a little gold.. and the language when alls you want is their purse!! damn little buggers.. I spend as little as possible elsewhere, and work the fests and faires where I can for free entry and food chits. I try to drive and stay with others as much as possible, and plan far in advance so I know how much I have to come up with.. Where I live, its 2 hours minimum to drive to a fest/faire.. I've bunked with some weird and wonderful people: driven 5 hours or more to get there before dark on Friday, set up camp, done faire, drove 5 hours on Monday and then worked 9 hours that day. and I call it fun.
  5. MB.. I also do Ren faires, and that is why I wondered about the bell back.. it also works for Rev war tents too... but I think I'm more inclined to get away from that now and just have the straight back. Less weight and doesnt make that much of a difference. BO-- this is why I'm stuck on this one... I've camped with the 13 oz more, and I was impressed with the weight.. no wind cutting thru, less lights (going inside in morning or also having my light showing out), 2' overlap on doors, and no "misting' in heavy rains. but, its also $500 total with set up. I can use that difference for a bunch of gas in my car. I can get both with the same additions: sod cloth, 2 doors, iron stakes that can be purchased, might have poles from someone free... I do like the ropes with the 13 oz, softer over time at $3 each (something manilla) and the ropes and stakes kits are $75 only with the 13 oz... Shipping is about the same, $30. https://www.strinztipi.com/index.php?crn=20...ion=show_detail (13 oz sunforger 9x9x7wedge) $500 with stakes and ropes, no puller no poles http://www.fcsutler.com/fccanvas.asp (10 oz sunforger 9x9x7 wedge) $300 with stakes and puller, no ropes no poles going around and around on these..
  6. indeed..and blue looks so good on me!! you both look great! I love your lady's plumes.. and I have the same pants. kewl!! Bo. I love the spearhead.. an awesome accesory for any pirate. :)
  7. I'm looking at buying a wedge tent, and there are 2 I've picked out. One is 10oz Sunforger, 2 door, sod cloth, 9x9x7h stakes but no poles for $280 and ship the other is 13oz Sunforger 2 doors, no sod cloth or stakes, 9x9x7 $400 and can pick up. also, does the bell back fit more periods or just a plain back? has anyone any experience with both those additions, and can steer me the right way?
  8. talk about tryin to do too much, I have a ren faire the first of May, another the next weekend, and my house is supposed to be on the market by May 1 too.. and if someone wants to buy the house out from under me.. there i go! I'll try to get some sewing done I needed, painting some banners, looking at a tent (Capt Sterling, I IM'd you) and I need advice about it.. I can get a 10 oz sunforger $280 with sod cloth and 2 doors and stakes 9x8x7h or I can get a 13 oz sunforger 9x9x7h for $400 no sod cloth, no stakes. I have someone maybe giving me their old poles I can cut off to fit. which one is best to get, does the extra for the heavier cloth make the difference? In the heavier tent, I noticed there wasnt any leakage or winds under the edging and it stayed in better shape.
  9. thank you muchly! I know this kind of work is very mundane and boring.. I"ll try to see about having someone buy you a drink at piratecon on me. bravo!

  18. Sorry about not posting, me mateys, I couldn't log on for the last week. I guess the IP was read as spammer and blocked it. I had to wait to drive to the library to get on another PC. I did have most of the complications from the anesthesia, namely not eatting much for a week and being dizzy for 2 days. I'm much better now, but I can't lift anything for 2 months and off work at least 6 weeks. I got 100-200 sheets for Port Wash done today, and paid all my bills yesterday.. and my doctor would have me head if he knew. I hate just sitting... as for what I had done, to make it easy, call it a hernia and also had some muscle repairs done. It was a long time coming but the timing sorta sucks.. ah well! I'm bruised from stem to stern but my sense of humor is right where it used to be... all behind me! B thanks for all the posts, and you made this no-hearted pirate sniffle.. thank you everyone! I missed this place like chocolate.
  19. I had the prescription for it from my surgery, but since I am sensitive to meds anyway, I stuck to the ibuprophin. I have a friend who is tremendously addicted to them. I think she would sell herself and kids to get more.. and she made mother of the year at her kids school.. just goes to show what they can do.. carry on, Bo.. and I feel better knowing you are taking care of #1.
  20. and if you can just aim it right about here... ( )@( )
  21. snowing?? good gods, woman, just who did you make mad?! :) its been a cold rain almost steady here.. glad I got all my stuff done yesterday. I did get 100 or 200 sheets of articles done.. I'm looking into a stamp or something for us. A bright spot of blood red would perk em up. I guess when I posted as guest, the ISP thought I was a spammer and shut me out. Odd how that happened.. humm. anyway, welcome to the midwest pirates, there's a grand group of pirates near Wichita. I havnt been to the Muskogee faire yet, but I hear its great! Envious I am.. Ray, put a mojito on the newbies tab.. and thank you for the drink!
