  13. Legendary “pirate” Tom Lewis will perform live in concert at the Calvert Marine Museum Auditorium on Friday, April 2, 2004 at 7:00pm. Tom will be singing songs from his newly released CD, 360°, All Points of the Compass. Tom Lewis will perform a children’s concert, “Songs and Lore of the Sea” live at the Calvert Marine Museum Auditorium on Saturday, April 3, 2004 at 10:00am. If you like songs and stories of the sea, new and old, you’ll enjoy Tom's works and his singing. Tom is a 25-year veteran of Her Majesty’s Royal Navy. He now resides in British Columbia, Canada. His songs cover a wide range of nautical topics from life onboard ships, through the loneliness and lure of the sea, to the very funny tail of Bunts, a canine ship’s mascot. Ticket prices are $8 for museum members and $10 for the general public. For more information, or to purchase tickets, please contact Melissa McCormick at 410-326-2042 x41 or by email at mccormmj@co.cal.md.us. Calvert Marine Museum Auditorium
  14. i'm not versed in the tall ship directory, but i do know of a few little nautical gems out there. The Heritage of Miami is a two mast topsail passenger schooner operating under the U.S. Flag. She is 85 feet in length, weighs 47 tons, and is fully Coast Guard inspected for safety. Her design was inspired by 19th century cargo and passenger schooners which once sailed the waters off Miami, the Florida Keys, Gulf of Mexico, Cuba, and the West Indies. (i was booked on this, but they stopped the tours to bad weather) Wm. B. Tennison is a nine-log sailing bugeye hull converted to powered buy-boat, official number 081674. She is homeported at Back Creek, Solomons Harbor, Solomons, Calvert County, Maryland. Tennison was built in 1899 by Frank Laird at Crabb Island (near Oriole), Maryland. She is 60 feet, 6 inches long on deck, has a beam of 17 feet, 6 inches and a draft of 4 feet, 6 inches. Her wide beam and shoal draft, typical of the bugeye type, is ideally suited for oyster dredging on the shallow waters of the Chesapeake Bay.....Enjoy a leisurely hour with a relaxing sightseeing cruise. On your cruise, you will sail the busy Solomons inner harbor, See Solomons Island and the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory. Cruise past the U.S. Naval Recreation Center at Point Patience and pass underneath the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge. Pride of Baltimore II was commissioned in 1988 as a sailing memorial to her immediate predecessor, the original Pride of Baltimore, which was tragically sunk by a white squall off Puerto Rico in 1986, taking her captain and three crew members down with her. Both ships were built in the Inner Harbor as replicas of 1812-era topsail schooners, the type of vessels, called Baltimore Clippers, that helped America win the War of 1812 and finally secure its freedom. Sailing aboard Pride II is a perfect opportunity for those who have a sense of adventure and the desire to sail a traditional vessel. Fee listed include room and board, the opportunity to become part of the crew of a traditional sailing vessel, and the memory of a lifetime. Even if you have never sailed before, aboard Pride II you will fall in love with the magic of traditional ships and the mystery of the sea.
  15. ahhhhh such a great feeling!...brings back memories looking drunk, but being sober lol
  16. let me know what i can bring to the party....dessert, drinks, etc
  17. more good news from salter...that weekend is wide open for us!!! yeahhhhhh seadogs is a good name....(i love their teeshirts) our crew: paisley + 1 zorg capnwilliam + 1 stynky tudor + 4 silverhearted maggie - not confirmed lady elaina and casabel are in the hotel
  18. MORE IN FROM SALTER CAMPGROUND: Okay, I know this sounds a little ditzy, when were you coming? Sometime in May? We're inventorying new stuff for the store and setting the store & office up after having the entire place packed up for the winter. It's a little hectic. I think we probably have the sound sites open. Memorial Day is the only weekend where it is getting full. Sea service pistols are fine as long as they stay in the case and in the trunk. We do not allow firearms so if y'all will keep them out of hand and out of sight at all times I think we'll be okay. I'm not sure about how they feel about pistols on the streets especially after 9/11. I think steel will be okay. I know that when my ex was pirating, they only wore their pistols when they were attacking (although there was that one instance in the Oval Office during Tall Ships....). sounds like permission eh fellas???? current headcount campers: 10! wooohoo hotelers: 2--you know who you are!
  19. THIS JUST IN FROM SALTERS PATH CAMPGROUND: just emailed them back again and asked how they felt about weapons. i think silverhearted maggie might be joining us from atlanta. just bought henry every's flag...i'll bring it. modern tent for us too. i'm bringing some freeze dried camping food if anyone cares... mostly breakfast stuff...so far group name????? help us out william!
  20. how do you computer geeks do that??????
  21. i'll commit to the sound side 117, 118, 119-ish sound good. as it stands now i'll drive down friday night. stay fri and sat (14th & 15th). maybe stop at teach's hole on the way back. so we each have to call in our own spots? i can't reserve 3 sites???? : ( the pug dawg is staying here....with all the other creatures. looks like salters path campground capn.....hope you'll join us! headcount for campers is: 8 hotelers: 2 (elaina & casabel) i'll bring the marshmellies and the blue skyy! (hey...i'm a girl...what do ya expect? )
  22. HOTEL????????? come on elaina!!! come join the crowd! if you think i'm really roughing it, you're wrong.... bringing my inflatable mattress, and freeze dried pasta primavera! yummmmmmmm all the same....i'm very glad you are going!!!!!
  23. i'm thinkin 3 sites at least (maybe 2...do you snore zorg????) not sure how many stynky is bringing. or if anyone else is going... either site is good for me. ocean- alot of sand to deal with in your tent, but not as many mosquitos. i don't plan on swimming, but bonfire (if poss) on beach would be awesome. i can look for shells for hours. sound- less sand! usually more mosquitos (i camp at assateague on bayside) and ticks...lol...i think the view would be cool, watch the boats go by. if we got those outside point sites, would be great too. maybe i can reserve 3 sites next to each other? can always cancel, but i'd like to have a decision by the 25th so i can call on the 26th.
  24. we are going to have sooooooo much fun!
  25. *heehee....revenge....listen to your captain lady b!*
